Just blew up at DP

5 hours of my life invested in a tv series.

Major cliff hanger!

Literally the suspense music is on. Someone’s about to be shot in the head. Big drama moment.

DP sitting there decides this is the moment to tell me about the City of London and how much gold is there and how much trade goes through London.

I say dont care. Please. Not now

Keeps on! I say shuttttt up!

A bang goes off. Screen cuts away. Subtitles roll. About a millisecond passes before ‘the Bank of England blah blah blah’.

I am like SERIOUSLY! You have all flipping day and night to talk to me and you chose now! Fucking now. When I told you I don’t care. And you are continuing on.

Honestly I was harsh but wtf. But I just feel it’s absolutely no respect! I am fuming. He’s now stormed to bed.

I ask for 4 minutes of peace during the Final Chase on ITV every night jist before the 6pm news but DH absolutely has to tell me all about his day right there and then. Does my head in.

I still remember losing my shit at my dad who's come home drunk whilst I was watching a pivotal moment in Buffy the vampire slayer .... I screamed cried then stormed upstairs to watch it peace.

Lol - something similar happened to me with the last season of Slow Horses which DH watched before me. No spoilers but there’s sight of something at the very end of the last episode, as in the last 30 seconds. Gary Oldman, who DH KNOWS I think is beyond amazing in this - just marvelously doing his thing. Camera pans across his office, gentle music playing, his feet up on the desk, polishing his shoes or whatever musing over all that’s gone on this season, camera continues to pan and it takes a second for the viewer to register what they’ve just seen. The LITERAL SECOND the camera shows the thing he goes “did you see it?? Did you?? That was the whole point of the whole thing - isn’t it awesome??”

WELL I MIGHT HAVE HAD YOU NOT BLOODY JUMPED DOWN MY THROAT TO TELL ME!! I would have come to the incredible realisation myself - it takes a second - and I would have had that goosebumps moment. But no, he had to tell me and spoil it all 🤦🏼‍♀️.

So. Annoying.

You should have told him there is not as much gold as he thinks, then get him to google gold rehypothecation. That would have kept him quiet for a good while.

It’s one of those, ‘oblivious to other people’s internal life’ moments. I think some of us have learned to read body language in babies, angry adults, threats, and so automatically read the room and behave accordingly. We look for the moment the other person is going to be receptive rather than assuming the world moves around us.

Other people men haven’t!

'find the channel changer' (remote!!) does not compute. Mine lives right next to me. I'm often rewinding, pausing etc it's the joy of modern tv. I definitely would have paused & asked him which parts of 'I'm not interested' & 'STFU' does he not understand?

but if I hadn't used my pillow last night I definitely would have this morning after he asked that!

I hope you at least asked him WTF he was on about as it was him that owed you an apology!

I can’t ever imagine being a hooked on a TV Programme, that I would speak to my spouse in such a horrible way.

It’s just TV .. you can pause it, rewind it, watch it again.

No it was Lead Children on Netflix

Really incredible watch. Frustrating and anger inducing too. As much about the soviet socialist life than the science discovery. Recommend
