Despite his villainous behaviour, anyone feel a teeny bit sorry for Andrew?

Before I get totally flamed, I despise his attitude, and the things he appears to have done - particularly the subsequent lying and apparent determination to shield/ hide misdemeanours. However, seeing the photo of his release today looking a broken man after such huge public downfall , plus thinking of him going back to an empty house on his birthday with no family support - even though I initially felt he deserves every indignity and consequence - there’s still a teeny part of me that just can’t help feeling just a little bit sorry for him. If it’s true that he was taken to a brothel at age 11 , whilst it would in no way excuse abusing others , it means he has also been a victim of abuse. Additionally it seems the Queen and his entourage have never ever said no to him in his whole life- so to reach his 7th decade before any consequences hit makes me question how resilient he will be able to be. Obviously main sympathies are always rightly with any victims , but even the most hardened and perpetual criminals often retain family support, he seems to have nobody. ( albeit if his own making ) or am I just being too soft?!

I find this OP in such incredibly poor taste given that at least one of his alleged victims is actually DEAD.

Is that you, Fergie?

eventhekitchensink · 19/02/2026 22:38

Absolutely not. He is a sex offender and a grifter with a massive amount of entitlement and arrogance. He and his cronies have destroyed other people’s lives without a second thought. I hope he goes to prison for the rest of his life. He probably won’t though, unfortunately.

Are you also with Alison Hammond who suggested they could have avoided arresting him on his birthday? Feel sorry for him? I couldn’t be further from that statement.

I think Alison just tried injecting a smidgeon of humour but now getting her arse whipped

Yes I do slightly, he really did his bit in the RN during the Falklands conflict, he deserves respect for that, but sadly he’s made some very bad choices. I just feel saddened that as part of our RF he didn’t have more decorum.

I’m sure he did aye ……from afar, well protected from any real harm

fuck sake

It's not really the fact that she was 17 - it's that she was forced into it. Trafficked.

Did he know she was trafficked?

FreeWheezin · 19/02/2026 22:37

No.

Parisian14 · 19/02/2026 22:37

You are having a laugh surely?

“apparent determination to shield/ hide misdemeanours”

I don’t consider having sex with trafficked young women or passing on governmental information a misdemeanour!

They are both abuses of power and he should face the consequences of his actions.

We all call him oaedophile etc, but the girl was 17. Yrs it’s below age of consent in America but not in UK. Or are there others we don’t know about?

To be honest, it doesn’t matter how old she was. If she was trafficked then it was sexual assault/rape.

Sufferingjaysus · 19/02/2026 22:36

Sorry for him my ass

a pompous entitled thicko, privileged on the basis of the taxpayers keeping the likes of him in luxury

wise up. He needs to be treated the same as any other citizen who commits a crime, and I hope the legal defence is not paid for from public funds

anotherside · 19/02/2026 22:36

I don’t feel sorry for him but it does bother me that so people only think he is rotten while conveniently ignoring that he was raised inside a bizarre and rotten institution. The whole things fucked up and regularly produces fucked up people. Raising kids with that level of press intrusion, social pressure and wacko privilege is tantamount to child abuse.

Don’t be so ridiculous.

No.

"Misconduct in public office." Yet to be proved, of course, but it seems beyond doubt that he passed over confidential govt info to his rich mate in America. I feel so angry. He's let his country down.

I mean, if that actually is true, it's properly traitorous. A born prince doing that to the country whose titles he held. And not even for politics, because he had genuine concerns of conscience over the country's governance or workings. Purely for personal gain.

Yes he he could be a suicide risk.

Oh well 🤷‍♀️

Bloozie · 19/02/2026 22:35

No. He could have avoided all this by simply not being a sleazy corrupt nonce.

People manage not to be arrested every day. It’s not hard and he’s really not special.

I feel no sympathy for him, he’s a vile person by all accounts.
I do think he’s also a very easy target / useful idiot and is being used as a distraction from the really big, powerful players, ‘they’ know he’ll get massive worldwide publicity and it takes focus off others.

I think he is very, very stupid but over - priviledged. And I absolutely agree with this opinion that he is an easy target. But should blame be also based on the fact that he was approved by various UK governments? And whose mother really knows what their kid's friends are like, what their influences are? Do you think anyone who knew would have told the queen?

Is this akin to jimmy Saville did a lot for charity?

So fucking what, shame he didn’t get killed, because many a good man died in that war and he went on to make other living hell!

This 👆.

I feel very uncomfortable about it because, as others have said, he seems to be the fall guy for the whole despicable affair, and is probably a bit player. No one in the US is going to face any kind of consequences. I feel strangely pissed off that only British people are being punished for the malevolent deeds of this American bastard. And I don’t even like any of them!

This is how I feel.

There is too much pointing at Andrew and other British people. It is distracting from those who have done much worse, been more deeply embroiled. His issue here is not sexual offences, it is betraying his country, something he should have been beyond reproach on. That is far more disturbing to me than his known sleaziness.

Yes he he could be a suicide risk.

I’m not normally one to to think things like this, but I think that would be the best thing for the future of the monarchy. He won’t be convicted of anything but the public won’t put up with him being given a gorgeous country house and all expenses.

I think the institution needs to be dissolved now. William and Catherine and all the other Royals (not Charles and Camilla but never mind) will I’m sure be perfectly happy not being ‘Royal’ - They’ll all still be incredibly wealthy, they just won’t have to do dull work any more. Win-win.

Absolutely not. He's reaping what he sowed. Brought it all on himself.
