Despite his villainous behaviour, anyone feel a teeny bit sorry for Andrew?

Before I get totally flamed, I despise his attitude, and the things he appears to have done - particularly the subsequent lying and apparent determination to shield/ hide misdemeanours. However, seeing the photo of his release today looking a broken man after such huge public downfall , plus thinking of him going back to an empty house on his birthday with no family support - even though I initially felt he deserves every indignity and consequence - there’s still a teeny part of me that just can’t help feeling just a little bit sorry for him. If it’s true that he was taken to a brothel at age 11 , whilst it would in no way excuse abusing others , it means he has also been a victim of abuse. Additionally it seems the Queen and his entourage have never ever said no to him in his whole life- so to reach his 7th decade before any consequences hit makes me question how resilient he will be able to be. Obviously main sympathies are always rightly with any victims , but even the most hardened and perpetual criminals often retain family support, he seems to have nobody. ( albeit if his own making ) or am I just being too soft?!

No, but have to say I think it’s been rather more a case of thick and stupid, than actual bad. All too easily used and manipulated by much cleverer, seriously unpleasant people like Epstein.

Plus of course the sense of entitlement, and being (as he thought) more or less untouchable.

He’s thick? Really? I thought he had a PHD and served in the RN?

I don’t feel sorry for him as he has to take his punishment like everyone else. But I do think the public are on a witch hunt now and he will have nowhere to turn. I can sadly see this ending badly for him

Nowhere to turn? What does that mean? Where should he be turning?!

This expresses more or less what I was coming on to say.

I have a feeling that he won't be here this time next year and I don't think the press and social media will stop the hounding of him until he's 6 feet under. Just waiting for all the TikTok detectives to come out now.

So you'd also argue that the press "hounded" Epstein until he was 6 feet under? That these powerful white men were actual victims of the media?

Squirrel60 · 20/02/2026 09:10

How anyone can even feel just a tiny bit of sympathy for that vile, egotistical, evil creature is beyond me.

I did feel a pang of pity when I heard he was arrested on his birthday. I don't think it's a failing to feel compassion even for the most awful of people. It reflects on your ability for compassion, not on their crimes.

You can feel that way and still condemn what he's done, feel angry on behalf of his victims, and want him to face justice. I think he should be in jail.

Isitreallyworthitnow · 20/02/2026 09:07

I would love to see that face on every man in the Epstein files. Can’t come soon enough.

I doubt this will ever come to trial because it would be impossible to swear in a jury as so much has been said, written, implied about these events that he would not get a fair trial.

I was meaning badly in the sense of Andrew harming himself.

Panshon · 20/02/2026 09:06

Andrew has always been the cuckoo on the nest in my view (Lord Porchester..) His mother tried to make up for this, but sadly just enabled disgusting behaviour.

No sympathy whatsoever but we wont see justice, he will get away with it as always, one way or another

EdithBond · 20/02/2026 09:06

It’s just a bad photo, from an unflattering angle and flash red-eye. Looks to me he’s slumped down to avoid being photographed.

It shouldn’t be seen as a sign he’s a ‘broken man’.

If he’s committed no offences, as he claims, he has nothing to worry about.

If he’s committed offences, and there’s enough evidence, he’ll be charged and tried. Like any offender.

The survivors have photographers around them all the time. They’ve been broken. But they’ve found their strength and fight on.

PaperTyger · 20/02/2026 08:41

@Freya1542 personally I don't feel sorry for him at all but people can feel two and more things simultaneously. We are not ai robots just yet.

"We are not ai robots just yet" robots have zero genuine understanding of context, ethics, and emotion.

The human tragedy borne out of his actions and all of those who perpetrated these immoral and debauched activities cannot/should not be defended, in any shape or form.

Come on now! who on earth is voting "YANBU" 😩

Summeriscumin · 20/02/2026 09:04

He deserves what the law says. I have little time for him.

But I'm disgusted by the slavering lips and rubbing of hands of journalists. They are enjoying themselves - and it's bullying.

They disgust me more than him. He's been brought lower and lower and people are already dancing on his grave. Very unattractive to see.

PaperTyger · 20/02/2026 09:03

Prince Philip was a scoundrel but not that we know with women who were prisoners.

ThiagoJones · 20/02/2026 09:02

Catwalking · 20/02/2026 08:58

Yep sure… his big bro didn’t set good example -committing adultery (that we know of), did he!

You think committing adultery is comparable to what Andrew has (allegedly) done? My mum had an affair when married to my dad and I’ve managed not to knowingly socialise with a convicted paedophile, have sex with victims of trafficking and commit misconduct in my professional role.

PaperTyger · 20/02/2026 09:01

@Bellaunion I agree.

I can't see how in any way shape or form Andrews life experience ,having only recently as an old man himself lost his parents who were solidly together for decades be remotely compared to the trauma and tragedy that is Harry's experience.

DeepBlueDeer · 20/02/2026 09:00

Strangerhings · 20/02/2026 02:06

what about holding a weapon to his pregnant girfriend, etc yea the guy was such a saint

How are you still failing to get this?

One person was murdered, by law enforcement.

One person was charged with a crime he seems very likely to have committed

Regardless of their merits as human beings, there's an ever-so-subtle difference in circumstances, wouldn't you say?

Catwalking · 20/02/2026 08:58

TallulahBetty · 20/02/2026 08:58

Is that you, Lizzie?

Bellaunion · 20/02/2026 08:56

TimeForATerf · 20/02/2026 08:20

FFS are you illiterate? I was referring to them both having a shared sense of privilege with no consequences, NOT the crime. I even referred to Crack on twisting what I said.

I also said I had absolutely no sense of pity for him.

Weirdo.

But why was there a need to bring Harry into it? What's he got to do with it? Why does Andrew even need to be compared to Harry?

It seems the Meghan and Harry haters just can't help themselves from dropping their name into things like this when it absolutely nothing to do with them.

Echobelly · 20/02/2026 08:55

No, he's only crushed because he really believed he could do what he liked. I feel a bit sorry for the daughters though.

PaperTyger · 20/02/2026 08:51

There are talks of him being neuro.diverse but I've not seen any evidence of that ?

Unfortunately he seems impervious to any self reflection and I also think he has a low moral code as widely evidenced. So what bar is he judging himself against ?

What about the queen and prince Philip ? Did they have good moral values ?prince Charles has made some extremely dubious decisions but he seems to have more emotions and understanding of pain but I'm sure that's inspire of his family not because of them ? Because of his awful early experiences himself
He knows what it's like to be bullied ?
They seem like.a very hard cold family to me and it was Diana who infused it with some emotion and kindness and thinking about others.

Many people share very different values

I don't believe Andrew is at rock bottom yet and I'm not sure at what point he will truly understand everything he has done esp with the girls.

I don't feel sorry for him nor do I feel glee at his arrest (as many posters seem to).

What I do feel strongly is that no one above the law and he is entitled to a fair trial.

He should be found guilty or not guilty based on the evidence. He shouldn't be convicted simply because he is a member of the royal family or because he is wealthy (as some posters seem to feel).

I also feel that certain recent cases have shown that juries are becoming more inclined to pass judgement based upon how they feel about the defendants and how they feel about the crime, rather than the evidence before them.

Based on that I am now starting to see a strong case for getting rid of juries based on economics and continuing to provide an impartial judicial system.

Surely a jury is at least a shade more reliably impartial than a single judge's opinion, judges who have displayed skewed judgement on countless occasions themselves

BlueJuniper94 · 20/02/2026 08:46

Sitonyourdressmavis · 20/02/2026 08:41

Genuine question OP - when you look at his victims do you feel the same?

OPs point is that he is also a victim.
