To think Queen Elizabeth's legacy is going to be seriously harmed by this?

I mean I doubt he bounded into the palace shouting 'you'll never guess what I did last week'. He will massively have played down the extent of his friendship with Epstein and may even at times have lied about where he was when he was away. It seems his protection officers have some serious questions to answer around this. I doubt anyone in the RF had anything like the full picture. But QE stood by him and I can't see her coming out of this well.

@Blossomtoes
How did you expect her to ‘hold out for justice’?! With the entire weight of the legal system of the royal family against her?! The lies, the smears, the corruption- she stood no chance.

People don't mention that as part of her settlement she got him to apologise to her for for the frankly, slut shaming behaviour of AMW's lawyers. Presumably because that was all they had. I suspect if it had gone to trial, it would also have come out that he was using RPO's inappropriately, despite what the Met said.

SpottyPott · 24/02/2026 17:00

Yeah, I don’t believe she was a naive little old lady, she was the Queen of England for 70 years.

Mother defends son, more news at 12.

It’s not exactly a new phenomenon that mums protect/enable their badly behaving sons. The fact he was an entitled twat that seems to be universally disliked including by his own staff speaks volumes.

Boomer55 · 24/02/2026 16:29

According to her closest friend (lady Anson) she knew what he was like and just wouldn’t listen. She just closed the subject down.

And, apparently, she paid at least part of the money to VG.

She colluded - as simple as that.

Problem is, I think people are slowly starting to realise that the whole monarchy is laughable. They’re finally questioning why we allow people to born into power and wealth when their blood is the same as ours. Why are we looking up to people who are the same as us? It’s alright saying they work hard, so does the rest of the country and they don’t get the same luxuries. If she did pay that £12 million to bail out her favourite boy Andy then her legacy should be harmed. How vile

Yes

I thought much less of her when she allowed herself to be bought off.

Did you really? Do you even think of how much she suffered and endured during the years of trying to bring AMW to account?

Yes I did which was why I expected her to hold out for justice and not accept money.

I've been wondering about Edward. He's certainly kept his distance from the RF.

You what now? The D of E is described on the official website as a full time working member of the RF. Well, someone's gotta do now Andy and Harry are off the scene. I'm guessing he just gets on with it. 🤷‍♀️

He's being quizzed about passing sensitive info and possibly Govt .documents his sexual impropriety doest come into it unfortunately .

That isn’t the point. If he’s subject to the law for one crime, he’s equally subject to it for others. In any event Giuffre’s was a civil case. I thought much less of her when she allowed herself to be bought off.

KimberleyClark · 24/02/2026 09:10

It’s always a risk with a royal family that one will turn out to be a seriously flawed individual. Prince Andrew was for long time the spare (Princess Anne unfortunately didn’t count).

Clearly not in light of subsequent events.

Good. She was a very rich old lady who had delusions of grandeur fed by sycophants.

Carla786 · 24/02/2026 00:11

She didn't seem confused to me. And why do you say Philip went dotty? He always said rude stuff & age exacerbated that but I didn't notice cognitive decline particularly.

She’s making stuff up.

Carla786 · 24/02/2026 00:11

FiatLuxAdAstra · 23/02/2026 18:00

She didn’t personally authorise the payment. It came from the “royal family” which Charles was in control of by then.

I saw a confused old woman not understanding why Andrew was being excluded whenever there was a video of the family attending church or some ceremony. Her financial assets were being abused by her own children to try and cover up Andrew’s crimes. We all know Phillip had gone dotty before the millenium.

VG was probably better taking the money getting a result against the Establishment would be akin to pissing in the wind.

Clearly not in light of subsequent events.

The money was paid in 2022 when QE was still alive and every single news report credits her with it. She might have been old but she wasn’t dotty enough to need anyone else to “control the purse strings”. I’d have a lot more sympathy for Giuffre if she’d turned the money down and fought the court case.

She didn’t pay the £12m.
The “royal family” did.
By then, Charles was controlling the purse strings for both QEII and PP

canklesmctacotits · 23/02/2026 18:08

The point is, the insitution thought that paying VG off would get them out of this trouble. Which tells you everything you need to know. They’ve been burying incriminating evidence for centuries: it’s how they’ve survived (amongst other means). The real question is what else they’ve buried that hasn’t come to light. Hints are all there in the public domain.

EdwinStarrTheBackStreetsNSoul · 23/02/2026 18:00

None of them come out good in any of this.
12 million was damage limitation cash🤮

FiatLuxAdAstra · 23/02/2026 18:00

Ukefluke · 20/02/2026 02:15

She knew it was bad enough to cough up 12 million to pay off somebody "he never met"

She wasn't a doddering 82 year old though. She was a fit and healthy 82 year old, with no sign of cognitive decline.

My mum is nearly 84, she would absolutely be able to understand this sort of information. Many people in their 80s can deal with complex information.

I don't believe she would have paid out millions of pounds without understanding what she was doing.

VanessaSanessa · 21/02/2026 09:03

The Queen must have known what the RF were paying 12m for.

Apparently 7/8m was from QE, 2/3m from Philip and the rest from the wider family. Oh they all knew.

Lets pay up guys, must keep the massive billion pound show on the road!

Arseholes the lot of them.

Andrew is exactly what their like produce when he's not reigned in and thankfully with media coverage today, more lack of deference, he's been investigated. Lets hope it's just the start of investigating the whole murky lot of them.

JennyForeigner · 21/02/2026 07:46

It's like people think a US-based lawyer just saunters up to the Queen's private secretary and says 'I have a client with a story about your kid and that'll be a very public 12m pls'

They know what they paid for.

pastaish · 21/02/2026 00:30

I do wonder what she may have known but she's not here to answer that, so just focus on holding the man himself accountable. I very much doubt she knew how far it went. Maybe just saw him as a party boy.
