So what do we think will happen to Andrew, could he actually go to prison?

I just don’t believe it could happen. Also I’d like him to go to prison for the sex offences, that seems more important than his sharing confidential information problem.

I think that's why they took away his gun licence. I think it's very likely he will do something.

Agree....if he is bailed pending further investigations and charges then I would imagine he is a very significant risk to his own safety. I dont want that to happen. If he has committed a crime then I want him to face the consequences of his actions

Shadeflower · 19/02/2026 16:53

From the information currently available I don't think he's committed any sex offenses. Obviously he's behaved very badly, but I don't think there's anything illegal, that we know about? Id like to think k theres a legal process to pay for what's gone on but I don't know what basis that could be on.

Sharing market sensitive and national security information is huge. I don't know if it could ever come to court, but it should certainly be more than 5 min investigation, which has led me to wonder what bail arrangments might be. Presumably, with connections all over the world, nothing to keep him here, and significant means, he'd be a flight risk, so what might bail be set at and who might pay it?

My understanding of it is that it is an offence to have sex with a trafficked woman now, but it was not an offence at the time Andrew is accused of having sex with Virginia Giuffre.
So, even if the fact they had sex can be proved it was not, in fact, against the law at that time.
I’m not defending him, by the way, merely trying to clarify the law.

Sadly, that is correct as the law only changed in 2010, I think? But who knows what else he has done that might come to light now.

I haven't heard that there's any evidence of him SA underage girls?
Is it a criminal offence to have sex with trafficked women? Is there evidence that he knew they were trafficked if do?

This. They’d need proof he knew they were trafficked. I’d imagine in these rich circles there’s always a lot of young, beautiful women around through choice so to prove he knew would be difficult.

I don’t think he’ll go to prison, but I do hope this hurts him beyond repair reputationally and financially.

I think people need to spend less time focusing on Andrew (not least because discussing this at this point could prejudice any trial if there is one), and more time asking why Andrew is being singled out here. What is it that people are using him to cover up?

There are three million pages in the Epstein files. And all the emphasis seems to be on Andrew. Why?

I don’t think there’s any doubt that Andrew is a sleaze. but IMO Andrew is by no means the main character here. And yet he seems to be being portrayed as such.

Who is this covering up and why?

And why are people on here lapping it all up in the way they are?

And why are people on here lapping it all up in the way they are?
It's playing on people's feelings about the monarchy being a drain/outdated etc etc.
He is abhorrent but I agree he's unlikely to be H (if I may use Line of Duty references).

MauveLibrary · 19/02/2026 16:49

If he is convicted he can be jailed just like every other criminal. Same prison cell confinement as any other inmate. No need for a private wing. He can be banged up and treated in exactly the same way as all the others. He is an ordinary person and not entitled to any special treatment. The law must take its course and if he is charged he will probably be remanded in custody. Nobody is above the law.

viques · 19/02/2026 16:46

No he won’t go to prison but with any luck his daughters will realise that they need to be a lot more circumspect about who they get into business bed with since it now is clear that having a royal connection is no guarantee that they can mix with gun dealers, people traffickers ,paedophiles and despots like their parents are happy to. And that is in the present tense because I don’t doubt that both AMW and SF will continue to accept favours, money, accommodation, flights and holidays from any scum who offer. They are both grifters and it appears they have brought up their daughters to be the same.

It will also mean he will not be so keen in the future to wave and smile at journalists as though he really is just an honourable man who is unfortunately going through a bit of a rough patch but will come through in the end because, well, because he always has. He is sunk, and his big brother has locked up the life rafts and thrown away the key.

CosyBungalow · 19/02/2026 16:45

AMW has been arrested for Misconduct In A Public Office, which may, or may not be linked to Epstein and his 'business interests'
At the time AMW had sex with VRG she was not a minor in either the UK or US, and also at the time, having sex with trafficked women was not an offence. The trafficking of women was an offence, and that links to Epstein - now dead - and Maxwell - already convicted, and in prison.
I would think it very unlikely that there would be enough evidence to prosecute AMW for any offence relating to trafficked women, and more likely that he be charged with Misconduct In Public Office when he was a Trade Envoy, which would also have repercussions for Peter Mandleson, who is also rumoured to have passed UK state secrets and information to Epstein and others.

I think this arrest will finally open the floodgates for his arrest in relation to the SA offences etc. I do hope he’ll end up in prison sooner rather than later.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2026 14:56

No. My hope is that how they fall goes like this...

Andy gives up information to stay out of prison.
He gives up a load of smaller players. Some of whom are under the UK purview.
They get arrested.
The UK gets any small fish, drivers, pilots, chefs, waiters and turns the screws.
They now have a lot of information.
They get bigger and bigger fish.
They work with the US democrats to make it intolerable to continue.
The whole shitty boiling of them either kill themselves or get arrested and thrown in prison.

The End.

Didn't know the Dems were innocent in all of this, sure I've seen Clinton's name and image in the files.

mydogisthebest · 19/02/2026 16:35

The only female that we supposedly know he had sex with was Virginia who was not underage.

Not saying he is innnocent but what about ALL the other men? Is he really supposed to pay for all their sins? Pretty sure a lot of them did far far far far worse than Andrew did.

HarbourClankCat · 19/02/2026 16:34

When the files were released around his special trade envoy work, I immediately said this could be the thing that actually holds him to account.

The police obviously have enough to make an arrest, but there is also a lot of work to take this to court proceedings and a prosecution.

I think firstly, it needs to be proven he was in public office. I am sure I read somewhere last week that the position is not actually public office, but there’s a line in the role specification that says a person is accountable as though they were in public office. Could this be argued by his legal team?

Secondly, proof that he was “wilfully” neglecting duties. Could it be argued he did wrong but with good intent for UK trade?

Then was it an abuse of the public’s trust and was it done without reasonable excuse or justification.

I’d be really interested in hearing from legal minds on this and what a defence might be.

thebabessavedme · 19/02/2026 16:34

I think AMB will be relieved to be charged with this offence, so much better to be a spy than a nonce, it will take years for this to come to court, by then his dementia will mean that he is not fit to plead, then of course any files will be put under order not to be revealed for 50 years due to 'national security fears'.

The events of today are all bullshit. We are being treated like idiots. The RF plainly didn't learn a bloody thing after Diana died, They where shocked then at the public for displaying anger at their behaviour, we may be happy to keep them if they toe the line but fuck the public about like this and they are doomed.

Yes, it is.

Doesn't need to be according to the legislation.

I really really hope he pulls the other predators down with him and they end up in prison. There has to be some justice for these children and women.

Failing that he needs a two up two down terrace and a minimum wage job to find out how hard life really is.

Sex with a trafficked woman is rape. Evidence? He apparently ordered from a catalogue. I know he is thick but does he think it is normal to order women?

Fearfulsaints · 19/02/2026 16:25

I also think its for show. So it looks like it's been taken seriously but wont go further.

Randomchat · 19/02/2026 16:23

Andrew is just a performative scapegoat and one of many MANY powerful men involved

This. Nothing will happen to him.

I heard in passing on the BBC something about him having been appointed by the Queen rather than the government so the rules he had to play by might be different. But I wasn't completely paying attention so I don't know all the details.

Wriggling off the hook already.

No sex offences have been proven. He had sex with an apparently willing much younger woman who was over the age of consent in the UK. And a 26 year old woman flew to the UK to have dinner with him (and probably a bit of hanky panky) again apparently perfectly above board, no reason for him to think she wasn't perfectly willing and she was hardly a child. Is that really the best they can do with the press of the world poring over every detail? Half the relationship threads on here are much more gory.

On the other hand giving away sensitive information to Epstein and other people likely for money or favours is a really serious crime possibly treason if they can prove it.

Cakeandcardio · 19/02/2026 16:11

😅😅😅 are you a man? Go away

No and No.

All this pitchfork waving is pretty stupid.

As far as I'm aware he had sex with VG who was 17 - according to her own account.

So where is the criminal offence?

Seedy and sleazy - YES but not illegal
Vomit inducing - YES but still not illegal

HelloPossible · 19/02/2026 16:15

It’s going to be very interesting, will we find out who Epstein was working for as part of Andrew’s defence? If Epstein was an asset it might have been legal to pass information to him. How much did our own security services know about Epstein, hard to believe they knew nothing. He obviously had some protection for his dealings with business, does that still apply? I expect it does.

Catwalking · 19/02/2026 16:14

He hasn’t been arrested for the sex offences, so he won’t have to answer any questions on that subject.

Basquervill · 19/02/2026 16:13

I hope he tells the truth. I hope he and Sarah Ferguson shed the armour and tell the truth. They could be the ones that break the atmosphere of collusion. I hope they take that opportunity.
