Al Capone was jailed for tax evasion; this feels similar.

The crimes AMW has been arrested for are easy to prove (relatively speaking). They’re a matter of facts, dates, emails, paperwork etc. And they give the police a way into pulling his life apart in enough depth that they could find evidence for any illegal sex stuff. You arrest on the easy charges first, to put you in a position to move onto other potential charges.

This is clearly Epstein related though; the files did say he shared info he shouldn’t have.

But this morning I'm 90% she was in front of me in Greggs on services M4, she bought the bacon bap meal deal and a cup of tea (she actually asked for a pot of tea but they do not offer this)

It can’t be her if she paid!

Playingvideogames · 19/02/2026 15:24

Apparently princess anne is visiting a prison today 😂😂😂

treeowl · 19/02/2026 15:24

don’t mind the Royals, they are my favourite soap opera.

I think a lot see them like this hence why the infighting and drama gets more comments & interest vs the actual charitable work they do.

But I don’t get it when we have so many things to stream! Having said that I’ve never liked soaps

I THINK I'VE JUST SPOTTED SARAH FERGUSON

Please do not share this and keep it confidential but Sarah Ferguson has not publicly been seen since 25 September 2025. But this morning I'm 90% she was in front of me in Greggs on services M4, she bought the bacon bap meal deal and a cup of tea (she actually asked for a pot of tea but they do not offer this). When it was my turn to be served the lady on counter said 'was that who I think it was'

Was she on her way to the chip shop with Elvis? :-)

I can't say how much this news brightened my day. It's given me great pleasure to think of that awful man sitting alone in a cell on his birthday 🎉😆

Bet he’ll be home by tonight!

sittingonabeach · 19/02/2026 15:23

@PeachOctopus if there is any justice there will be a hell of a lot more people. All the talk about Andrew and Mandelson is helping other people hide behind all the publicity about them

I agree. I am British but aside from the late Queen, who served for over 70 years and was Queen by default and I have respect for her because of how she conducted herself, I see them as a bunch of freeloading, lying, up their own backsides clueless capable of anything arrogant twats. NONE of them are squeaky clean, not one of them and the deflection going on here is maddening. It baffles me that so many of the British public think that Charles is capable of doing no wrong because he is king, it's ridiculous. And the hatred given to Meghan and Harry is ridiculous given what Andrew has done. Meghan has clearly been used as a deflection tool in the hope that the Epstein scandal would go away. In a day when most people live from paycheck to paycheck, it's a complete disgrace that we have this establishment living in palaces. It's unacceptable to any decent human being.

All this has soured my opinion of the late Queen, unfortunately. She must have known what he was like and chose to ignore it, hoping it would go away. “ Never complain, never explain” The family motto needs changing!

Laundryblue · 19/02/2026 15:17

No one else to blame but himself.

weegielass · 19/02/2026 15:17

I'm glad William is next in line as Harry is just as likely to make the wrong friends in his pursuit of money and fame.
To anyone who disagrees with me - I am sure I will be proven right in time.
(note I'm not saying Harry is any kind of sex offender though, just bad choices)

treeowl · 19/02/2026 15:15

I am not British but I have always been AMAZED that for a country that has contributed so much to literature, art and science, that this bunch of inbreds was what made so many proud to be British.

I think it’s a very small % of the population that actually feel like that hence the constant PR fluff pieces to boost . And they belong to a dying generation

The British do themselves a disservice thinking it's this family that draws the tourists and interest.

This is a rather poor way to look at it.

It's not that we're "fine" with AMW having sex with trafficked girls, it's that - as far as we know at time of writing - there is little hard proof of that beyond he said / she said and innuendos in emails. A number of people involved are now deceased. Securing a conviction on this basis would be nigh on impossible.

It is going to be orders of magnitude more difficult to convict him of a sexual offence than it would be for this where the evidence is (apparently) from the horses mouth by way of his own emails.

Unless video footage is found or some sort of inadvertent confession from Andrew e.g. by way of an old email, I think it highly unlikely any prosecution for a sexual offence would even make it to court, let alone succeed.

None of that means what he did was OK.

Completely agree, but I think questions are now also being asked about how much was done and by whom to prevent investigation when the people involved were alive.

What delicious timing on his birthday.

I hear there's a table unexpectedly available tonight at the Pizza Express in Woking.

An American colleague commiserated with me about it!! I thanked her, but told her not to. The royals mean nothing to me. This is yet another example of what a bunch of ugly, vulgar, arrogant, entitled gargoyles they really are.

My national pride is rooted in Shakespeare and Jane Austen and George Eliot and Dickens and Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin and the Brontes and Wordsworth and Keats and Wilfred Owen and Virginia Woolf. Any country that can produce Bertrand Russell and Aldous Huxley and George Orwell in one generation is alright by me. I’m proud of Oxford and Cambridge, of Alan Turing and the discovery of DNA. It’s this island’s contribution to the life of the mind, to the world of literature and science, that gives me pride, not that bunch of ghastly imbeciles. Harry is basically a chav with a posh accent. In fact, I doubt any of them have ever finished a serious book. Even P. G. Wodehouse and David Bowie and the Beatles give me more pride. All we ask is that they behave with a bit of dignity and grace, and they can’t even do that! Ditch the lot of them.

Edited

If the French can have national pride without a monarchy, there really isn't any reason why the British can't.

I suspect they will carry on for at least a few decades because people like to know what the Princess of Wales is wearing and they like a gold coach, but if the Prince of Wales's big thing is mental health, you have to wonder why he would inflict such a toxic concept on his children.

ITMA2000 · 19/02/2026 14:59

What delicious timing on his birthday.

It's magical! I bet for one split second he thought it was a joke and if there were any WPCs amongst the officers, he probably hoped it was a strippergram. I'm guessing they were plain clothes and in unmarked cars but they would stll have annouced they were the police and he must have been incredulous given his levels of arrogance and entitlement.

I don't think pride really comes into it.

For many years we didn't have a choice, and now it's really just all about the drama and the glamour, so a bit like the Kardashians.

The main justification is that it keeps the role of head of state a-political, so it's also a bit like having a mascot.

And everyone likes a bit of Zadok the Priest.

Allseeingallknowing · 19/02/2026 14:56
