That’s what I came to say. Sometimes you have to start somewhere easy to prove.

Yep. And with a charge like this, it's likely that he will get a pretty hefty prison sentence. That will surely be of some comfort to the Epstein victims, regardless of the charges.

I hope that he lives out the rest of his life in a prison cell.

Well, he was in the forces. I´m sure they have plenty of plastic crockery and microwaves. With Andrew, don´t forget, it´s not the physical discomforts, it´s the humiliation of being seen as less than, people not bowing and scraping and doing his bidding, to him that is hell on earth.

I agree, that's the main point. The loss of status and deferential treatment. Good.

We don't know if there was any payment.

The following was reported by the BBC on 8 March 2022, along with other respected news agencies:

“The Duke of York is paying a financial settlement to his accuser Virginia Giuffre - formally ending a civil case brought against him in the US, according to court documents. A judge in New York signed the court papers on Tuesday, marking the final stage of settling the sex assault case. The latest "stipulation of dismissal" court papers showed the case being concluded, following the agreement reached between Prince Andrew and Ms Giuffre in February, which stopped the prospect of a courtroom battle in New York. The signing of the papers by US district court judge Lewis Kaplan marks the end of this high-profile legal claim.”

So the BBC as well as District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan and State/Court records are all lying then are they? I mean, were you under a rock when all this happened.

I love the fact that the Thames Valley Police say in their press release that as per national guidelines they will not be naming the arrested man😁

Yes, finally, did take a while though.
I heard one of the victims (bbc news) when Andrew was stripped of title/chucked out that they wish American was treating it as serious as the UK.

Edited

America will not because guess who's number 1 implicated?

I wonder if he’s ever had a microwave meal before, or instant coffee from a plastic cup.

Or had to shit in a bog in the corner of the room he's sleeping in?

And how will he sleep without all the teddies?

😆😆

This has nothing to do with his sexual antics. This is his behaviour as a trade envoy.

I agree. Let's hope this is the start of the elusive nobody being above the law. I hope Starmer remembers his reiteration of the premise.

Watching the news, I'm so tempted to say "excellent" in a Mr Burns voice.

When the Royals fess up as to how much the settlement was and where all the dosh came from, please let me know
As usual it is just smoke, mirrors and obfuscation

Yes, I'll let you know. 👍

Don't call anything for me. I'm just interested in facts.
I'm glad this odious man has been arrested and I hope he faces justice. I'm just sad VG isn't around to see the news today 💐

I think that's a good point.
At least there's action against AMW.

Whammyammy · 19/02/2026 11:09

The £millions in hush money his late mother QE2 paid out didn't protect him then 🤔

ElsieJay · 19/02/2026 11:09

Natsku · 19/02/2026 11:06

Although they're only arresting him for misconduct in public office now that doesn't mean other charges aren't coming later. Fingers crossed they do.

This, a million times over ! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Or perhaps just like verified facts rather than conspiracy theories, which don't help.

Are you saying it’s a conspiracy theory that Virginia received a settlement?!

The Royal Family aren’t know for being transparent when it comes to finances…

deadpan · 19/02/2026 11:07

Queue someone making a video of him being interviewed by AC12.
Trouble is, he'll just sit there with the most expensive lawyer Charlie can buy saying "No comment".

There is no evidence that she gave him money for this pay off, and certainly no evidence for the sum of £12m

Is there evidence she didn’t?

Is there evidence you didn't??

KatyaKanani · 19/02/2026 11:07

simpsonthecat · 19/02/2026 11:05

OK. I'll call it £5million just for you!

It is obvious it was a huge amount and it's obvious QE2 contributed or paid it all. And me saying that doesn't undermine a single thing.

If you want no figures talked about or QE2 paying it, there are probably 500 news reports on this, you might need to contact them!

Don't call anything for me. I'm just interested in facts.

@KatyaKanani would the BBC have printed the below?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60667111

Why would theTreasury say the below?

“A statement from the Treasury, in response to a Freedom of Information request, ruled out any public funding: "No public money has been used to pay legal or settlement fees."

Prince Andrew, Virginia Roberts and Ghislaine Maxwell in 2001
