Are you now more likely to vote for REFORM (the party)

NC for this and apologies if Q already asked. My quick search yielded no result.

Reform plan to undo the reversal of 2 child cap benefit. Are you now likely (or more likely) to vote for them? There have been endless threads about the welfare bill.

How many people do you think there are in the world that are unsafe and would like to come to the UK?

We know there are 8 billion people in the world. We know there are a lot of people living in areas that are unsafe/oppressive. So how many do you think? I'll start with every woman in Afganistan having a legitimate claim (not allowed out without a chaperone, must be covered up, must not be seen even in her own house or garden....)

We also know that 110,000 (I think was the number quoted) wanted to come enough to physically get themselves here to claim asylum whether that was on a small boat, a student visa or some other physical route into the UK.

I think a billion people would have a legitimate claim. That's assuming that 1 in 8 people in the world live in an unsafe /oppressive regime and would like to come to the uk if all they had to do was fill in a Web based application.

I work with a lot of Nigerian people. They have sold up small holdings, left jobs and paid £££ to move here because they feel Nigeria is unsafe for them. The population of Nigeria alone is over 230, 000, 000.

How many people do you think have a legitimate claim for asylum to live here?

I’m sorry, do you think I’m the Home Office?

Lots of people live in oppression, not all of them want to come to the UK.

I am not going to guess how many people want to seek asylum in the UK specifically, because that would be a guess and nothing more. Just like what you’re doing, plucking numbers from thin air to exaggerate something you don’t even the facts for.

You can’t know that millions of people would use a system that currently doesn’t exist, and you cannot know how many of them would be successful in their claims.

I think you missed the point on your Nigeria comment btw. You work with a lot of Nigerians. They’re not in the asylum system, because you can’t work when you are. They’re migrants, who are contributing to our workforce - many of them will have come on student, sponsored or other work visas. Which isn’t asylum.

No I think a "safe and legal route" would be absolutely swamped with applications (millions of applications) with no way of actually determining who to grant asylum to.

That makes zero sense. Do you really think there would not be interviews and screening in the way that there is for those who are actually on our shores? Nobody would accept a system being set up to work that way. You're actually fearmongering yourself here.

You also make it sound as if the UK is the only place people will want to go to, which is ridiculous.

vote for the party who want to abolish our NHS and bring in the American health insurance system- not a chance!

Oh dear yet another conspiracy theory to shoot down.

So exactly what Farage Russian links are you referring to?

Apart from Farage appearing on the Russian state-affiliated television channel RT prior to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine .

Alex Salmond, Jeremy Corbyn, George Gallaway and David Davies have also appeared on RT - do you suggest that they have Russian links as well.

Farage's comment on Putin was in 2014, in response to a question about the current world leader he admires the most, Mr Farage said: “As an operator, but not as a human being, I would say Putin."

Do you equally object to Obama's compliments on Putin?

What about Nathan Gill for example?

Can you explain the conspiracy theory?

If you think that those who fill in a form online would just be put on a plane to the UK because they'd ticked all the right boxes, you're the one who is naive to the point of ridiculous. You probably also think those who arrive by small boat are only given a few forms to fill in and then being allowed to stay.

110,000 wanted to come enough to physically get themselves here. So you don't think many multiples of this number would apply if all they had to do was fill in a form on line. Naive to the point of ridiculous.

You do know that the absolute vast majority of refugees stay in the nearest country over to their country of origin, because they want to go back when it's safe? You do know that those countries around the world's powderkegs take far, far more asylum seekers than any European nation, the UK included? Your 5 million is a strawman argument.

I have absolutely no idea where you’re getting your numbers from - the top of your head, perhaps?

There has to be a limit, for sure. But that limit is not 0, and the application should be possible safely and legally. That has to be the bare minimum.

I'm not worried about Farage's association with Epstein. I accept his statement that he never met him.

I'm very worried about Farage's associations with the likes of Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, Viktor Orban and others.

I'm worried about Farage's track record both as and MP and an MEP. Ditto Richard Tice - the ultimate WFH proponent, the ultimate hypocrite. It takes a special kind of person to look at that (and all the other grifters, people with records for violence, people who post overt racist crap online) and think 'Yeah, that looIf that's the choice you make, you are one of two things and I can't say either of them without being moderated.

So when let's say an extremely conservative 5 million people apply for your safe and legal route (let's assume it's a web based application), and let's further assume that every one of them is telling the truth unsafe/oppressed so we don't even have to consider they might be lying, how do you propose to select those that can come to the uk? A lottery? Or we allow 5 million people to come?

I have absolutely no issue with either Farage's name or Winnie the Pooh or Paddington Bear's name being mentioned in connection with Steve Bannon, large pots of honey or marmalade sandwiches.

Despite the desperation of the conspiracy theorists it still doesn't detract from the facts that neither Farage nor Winnie nor Paddington actually met Epstein.

I'd like to know why the mainstream media or even reform themselves haven't put all the mentions out there to exonerate him.

Until then, and with the millions still left unpublished, I'll keep asking the question.

Because Farage has actually put out a statement saying: Farage said: "I never met Epstein and I didn't go to the island."

Interestingly neither Paddington Bear nor Winnie the Pooh have put out statements saying that they have never met Epstein.

Are you going to keep asking the question on them as well?

I don’t know anyone with an ounce of humanity who wouldn’t prefer a safe option, as a minimum. We cannot think it is justifiable in 2026 for people to cross the sea in a dinghy.

We also can’t have it both ways. Those who are against immigration make a great deal out of people arriving illegally, when there is no legal alternative route to follow.

What we need is safe and legal passage, and an asylum system that works, and works quickly - those who are granted stay, those who aren’t leave.

Until we have any of those things, unsafe and illegal routes are all that’s available.

So when let's say an extremely conservative 5 million people apply for your safe and legal route (let's assume it's a web based application), and let's further assume that every one of them is telling the truth unsafe/oppressed so we don't even have to consider they might be lying, how do you propose to select those that can come to the uk? Also, being is you are so worried about grooming gangs, please can you explain why you are not concerned that Farage is in the Epstein files? The rich white man's grooming club.

You don’t know anything about my life so refrain from saying I’m bullshitting, because of my living arrangements I was in Band a, it was going to take years, band b and c no hope. Everyone in my town knows this and it’s the same in most parts of england

Did he go to the island? You know thousands of people were mentioned who had nothing to do with it. The files are thousands of pages long

Yes that's with people having to get onto UK soil in order to claim asylum. How many do you think would claim under "safe and legal routes" from outside the UK. How many people in the world do you think are unsafe? How many do you think live under oppressive regimes. My guess is a billion people in the world are unsafe and thus eligible for safe and legal routes - that guess is based on 1 in 8 of the world's population.

I don’t know anyone with an ounce of humanity who wouldn’t prefer a safe option, as a minimum. We cannot think it is justifiable in 2026 for people to cross the sea in a dinghy.

So let's turn to facts again and let's shoot down yet another bullshit conspiracy theory.

Farage name does appear in dozens of Epstein emails, but these mentions consist of Farage's name appearing in news articles, newsletters, or press cuttings shared in email conversations between other individuals.

There is no evidence in the files of any direct, personal communication or meetings between Farage and Epstein.

So yes Epstein may have mentioned Farage's name just as he may have mentioned Winnie the Pooh's name but there was no communication or meetings between either of them.

No bullshit conspiracy theory here.

I'd like to know why the mainstream media or even reform themselves haven't put all the mentions out there to exonerate him.

Yes there are class factors involved. Similarly to Brexit where class influenced whether you thought of membership of the EU as primarily allowing little Timmy to study in Europe or saw it as allowing an unlimited amount of people to compete for your job.

Similarly for some people immigration means unlimited people to work in care etc for others it means not wanting to walk down their street because of groups of men hanging around. People in different classes have different experiences of immigration.

That's not necessarily borne out by fact. Lots of working class people (my friends among them) are offended at being lumped in with Reform/Brexit voting. I've got all sorts of experience with immigration and I don't want to hear that it's understandable that I should turn towards the far right any more than I want to hear that I'm too privileged and rarefied to understand other people's experiences.
