Are you now more likely to vote for REFORM (the party)

NC for this and apologies if Q already asked. My quick search yielded no result.

Reform plan to undo the reversal of 2 child cap benefit. Are you now likely (or more likely) to vote for them? There have been endless threads about the welfare bill.

I think the question was why isn’t Reform wanting to prosecute Jimmy Saville? Is it because he is white?
I think the most obvious answer is because he’s been dead 15 years.

I think it was “why do Reform only care about Asian abusers?”

The answer to that seems to be that they’re “worse,” but I didn’t realise we were ranking paedophiles and sex abusers.

Unforgettablefire · 18/02/2026 21:53

I won’t be voting again there’s not one of them can be trusted.

I’m not so sure about this..in an interview situation wouldn’t it better to have no track record and great answers like reform than an absolutely diabolical recent track record and answers that contradict themselves and just saying ‘I’ve been clear’ and ‘far right’ over and over again?

They do have a track record. Leicester and Kent councils, and their leader in Wales being imprisoned for selling secrets to Russia. For a party that's only been around a few years that's pretty impressive.

Edited: Taking bribes from Russia obviously! He didn't know any secrets fortunately...

Am I living in an alternative universe or is this thread somehow discussing how Jimmy Saville might be bad but he’s not the worst?

That was not on my bingo card for this year. Or ever, really.

Vote for the man who wiped billions of the economy through Brexit, only to repackage a bunch of tories and ruin the country once and for all? This is the man who said our NHS would be stronger and everything better if brexit went through. He is a fraud and a bully. Reform is being run by billionnaires. Does anyone regard £75000 spent on flags in Notts by Reform as good use of public money? Or the millions spent on a waste consultant in Leics?

Rituelec · 18/02/2026 21:47

Nope

ProudCat · 18/02/2026 21:47

I won't be voting Reform.

Look, I'm a teacher and whether we think it's ok for people on benefits to have lots of kids is irrelevant. The biting reality of the cap was that kids (who made no decision about whether they came into this world or not) were badly affected. It's just too much when I have to feed my pupils so that they can learn because they're literally going hungry. This just showed me that the wrong people were being punished.

Also Jenrick is a questionable character himself. He was Secretary of State for Housing and didn't do much to solve those issues. Alongside this, he's already been Secretary of State for Health and Secretary of State for Immigration and he didn't exactly do those jobs well, so not sure why anyone would magically trust him now.

Goingfor · 18/02/2026 21:47

I’m either going to vote Conservative or Restore.

Studyunder · 18/02/2026 21:43

Greenwitchart · 18/02/2026 14:50

No. I don't vote for grifters and failed Tories with hate fuelled policies.

First post nails it. I’d vote for no one before even considering them

Dymaxion · 18/02/2026 21:42

Between 1980 and 2013, the United Kingdom had five different Prime Ministers, with the Conservative Party in power from 1980–1997 and 2010–2013, and the Labour Party from 1997–2007
Between 1997 and 2013, girls were abused by grooming gangs of predominantly Pakistani men.

Those dates seem to implicate both the Conservatives and Labour ?

Dont forget; reform want to take over your womb as well; indirectly. By giving tax breaks to those who have children, they are enforcing higher taxes on those who remain childfree (by choice or design).

No kids? Higher taxes.

Policies of Handmaid's tale

And as someone who is struggling to conceive, this has upset me no end

Oh I would say you are very honest that you are voting on this single VAT issue and that you don't care about their other policies.

Maybe a tad selfish?

Good, glad we finally managed to get there.

Dymaxion · 18/02/2026 21:36

God No ! They aren't even a political party, they are just a limited company set up by a very experienced grifter. Fair play to their PR team though, that's some graft for a grifter !

LunaDeBallona · 18/02/2026 21:31

JLou08 · 18/02/2026 19:47

What's factually incorrect? Jimmy Savile was the most prolific abuser. Can you name me a perpetrator who has had over 450 reports of sexual abuse made against them? An individual, not a whole demographic.
It's not a competition anyway, there are men of all ethnic groups who sexually abuse children, but Reform and their supporters only care if the perpetrator is Asian. Why is that?

One man - approx 450 victims.
Many Muslim men - estimated 250,000 victims.
I think we can safely say the Muslim raping gangs have left many many more victims in their wake.
I’m not sure if Jimmy Saville impregnated girls, forced them to have abortions, drugged them, forced them into being raped by multiple men night after night, beat them, tortured them and murdered them.
I don’t know if Reform can do anything for these girls but I would hope that any more girls who are reported (because it’s still going on, don’t kid yourself otherwise) to social services in Reform run councils will now be given the support they need to report to the police and be removed from these evil evil men’s clutches. I hope they wouldn’t throw these girls back to their abusers because they were too scared of
a) being called racist
b) loosing the Muslim vote.

I’ll say it again.
I don’t know how any woman can vote Labour knowing how they left white working class girls to be repeatedly raped so they could keep votes.
I suspect many of those girls who are now women will vote Reform - probably fill the ‘not educated women’ demographic flung out on this thread.
They may not be ‘educated’ by mumsnet standards -but they are educated on a side of life and humanity that Labour MPs deny an enquiry into.
I wonder why.

I don’t mind school fees, I’m pro/education choice. I have said several times I’m a single issue voter on reversing the children aged 5 to 18 education and vocational training tax, there’s no point in telling me I’m not to be honest. It’s quite a weird argument to try and have with someone really

Whut?

Theres such a thing as society, if everyone voted literally what suited them short term without any thought for others then where would we be?

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 18/02/2026 21:24

A vote for Reform is a vote for racism, xenophobia, economic recession and poverty. The only thing that might ever change my absolute no on voting for them would be a policy so out of keeping with their usual rhetoric that I could believe I had misjudged them. A legal way to apply for asylum in Europe without making dangerous boat crossings in the channel perhaps.

JHound · 18/02/2026 21:23

I’m still very far from it, but Jenrick’s economic platform was a pleasant surprise. So, yes, “more” likely to I guess.

Fiscal conservatism combined with supply-side reform.

Simplify and reform the tax code to remove disincentives and cliff edges, but with overall tax levels to fall only once the deficit is eliminated. A sensible, technocratic move that can unlock some growth without additional spend.

Welfare reform, in particular targeted at rolling back the recent and large increase in anxiety-and-related benefit bill. Surprising echos of Gordon Brown.

Adjusting BoE remit: I could take it or leave it, but good to see recommitment to the OBR process. Discussion of superforecasters very interesting.

Energy policy: a major win. We have the highest industrial energy prices in the Western world, going into an economic revolution that will be very energy heavy. We can either be AI-makers or AI-takers. Makers is best. I like net zero, but think how we have done it (through domestic policies) has been absurdly inefficient and politically, not ecologically, motivated.

Much respect for your post, as this is the first time I've seen someone actually make a coherent post as to what might encourage their vote. Usually it's just arguing and deflection, 👌🏾.

There is nothing they would do that would make me vote for them. My existence offends them so why would I?

justtheotheronemrswembley · 18/02/2026 21:17

My lack of admiration for the Reform party is infinite.
