Are you now more likely to vote for REFORM (the party)

NC for this and apologies if Q already asked. My quick search yielded no result.

Reform plan to undo the reversal of 2 child cap benefit. Are you now likely (or more likely) to vote for them? There have been endless threads about the welfare bill.

@MikeRafonedo you not think they would shift back in an instant when they get a smell of power? That’s what they are chasing.

shift back to what?

LBFseBrom · 21/02/2026 02:53

No, never.

MikeRafone · 21/02/2026 02:33

Now all the hard right Tory’s have shifted out to reform

The Tory party would be a better prospect than before, not that I usually vote Tory. It’s working like a glycerin suppository and could help the Tory party improve

scottishgirl69 · 21/02/2026 02:33

Let's remember that the two child cap made women have to declare that they had been raped to conceive a child to get money for a third child.

Sorry but well done to the SNP for having the balls to say they were going to lift it which put pressure on labour to do the same

I would drop dead before I voted reform.

The only good thing as far as I'm concerned is that the vote will be split between them and restore Britain and they can then hopefully disappear up their own backsides

Lowe is even more odious than Farage as far as I'm concerned

rainandshine38 · 21/02/2026 02:27

No. If it was part of their policy to give me a million £ I still wouldn’t vote for them.

Zanatdy · 21/02/2026 02:24

Absolutely not. Farage is full of hot air. There is not one policy they could suggest that would change my mind. Friends would think something was seriously wrong health wise if I announced I was voting reform.

Yes, not all of the NEETS or the 9 million economically inactive people are in a position to take up paid employment, for a variety of reasons.

But many of them are able and willing to work and those are the people who need to be supported into work.

Yeah let's pick on the unemployed and disabled, immigrants too - folk at the bottom of the pile - people like me when folk like Farage sups his pint and pretends to be man of the people when he's an out of touch multi millionaire who doesn't even live in the UK

scottishgirl69 · 21/02/2026 02:19

Reform are racist - I couldn't care less about a single one of their policies. They are racist. Just like UKIP were. They are also apparently useless in the councils they are running. My council is a Labour council and they are worse than useless but I won't ever vote reform.

I don't care what their views are on trans issues. I don't care about what they think about the two child cap. I care that they are whipping up hate and hysteria against immigrants

Restore Britain too.

Reform are clear that men can never become women (unlike the WI) and I like the idea of restoring the 2 child benefit cap.
And yes, let's give tax breaks to working families with children. Why not? It's the same as paying them additional UC but with the encouragement of work.
And I believe they'll reduce immigration. This govt. are just as corrupt as the last one.

Immigration is down already.
And it makes no sense to give people with children money with tax breaks while taking it away with the other by bringing back the cap. Reform logic.

hulahoopingtoday · 20/02/2026 21:00

let the state of the US, its current corrupt govt and MAGA be a warning to anyone thinking of voting for reform. same idiots and traitors sit behind reform as sit behind the US administration.

Sirzy · 20/02/2026 19:51

To tackle things like youth unemployment we need to invest in proper mental health and SEN support. We need to ensure children are growing up with positive working role models. We need to break the poverty cycle. We need ongoing support to tackle the barriers to education and working.

these things don’t happen over night and they won’t happen with punative measures.

persephonia · 20/02/2026 19:46

Also, if young people not going out to work all day is always bad for their mental well-being, why do we want to encourage young women to have babies and stay home raising them? Either they are not normal people. Or their mental well being doesn't matter.

persephonia · 20/02/2026 19:44

5MinuteArgument · 20/02/2026 18:53

Yes, all these are sound policies. We have enough people in this country already. We have almost a million NEETS (young people not in employment, education or training).

I'd vote for any party who can find a sustainable way to get these people into work, get them contributing and benefitting society as well as their own mental wellbeing.

But some of those NEETS (not all) have caring responsibilities. Some of them might be staying home with children. Its odd because on the one hand you have Reform saying we need to educate teenagers on their fertility Envy and encourage young women to have children early. (Also they want to do away with legislation designed to protect mothers/pregnant women from being discriminated against in employment and encourage mums to stay home with their children.) But a 22 year old woman who does exactly that - married young, has children and stays home with her toddler and baby while her husband works is part of that doom laden statistic.

There is a problem with youth unemployment in this country. There's also a problem with mental and physical health stopping people working. Instead of seriously tackling that Reform are going for soundbites about "economically inactive people" without looking at the why. There isn't anything automatically morally wrong with being inactive economically. want women to have babies and be nurturers but there's a strong element of despising people who aren't "net tax contributors".

Well of course they don’t want men to become women as they wouldn’t want to strip any rights away from men would they ! Whereas it seems they want to tax childless women, tell girls to have babies young and their opinions on abortion are hugely concerning.

Edited

Their leader also admires Trump, the man who grabs em by the pussy, and paid for a childs beauty pageant so he could watch the young girls changing.
Yep. Great ambassadors of women's rights.

What is the plan re taxing childless women?

Lower tax code? What about menopausal women or those on State pension who are childless (and obviously can't gave kids now)? Are they going to be taxed more as well?

I don't think there actually is a plan. It was just being soft launched / floated to see how it played and how far they can push things.

And the loss of women's rights through the scrapping of the equalities act? The nhs going to an insurance based system. Your treatment being determined not by clinical need, but by the whims of a capricious insurance company?

You ok with that?

It's not just the loss of women's rights either. Ironically the equality act also stops employers discriminating against white straight men for example. And yes there have been cases brought. For all people love to talk about American DEI policies and positive discrimination, that is illegal here as of now. If Reform gets in, scraps the equality act and other employee rights, any scary radical left party elected after them could do what they wanted re trans rights, or anything. It really is turkeys voting fir Christmas.
For all their dodgy views in some areas the Greens aren't likely to make scrapping employment rights/the equality act part of their manifesto (and it would never get through the lord's without). So they would actually be far more hamstrung by existing legislation. Unless another party bulldozed the legal ground first.

All good with abortion rights being stripped away then?
As I said, it's generally people who aren't that good at thinking in the long term who agree with the two child benefit cap. I wonder what a venn diagram would look like there?
