FFS. It’s a very bad cartoon iguanadon. There’s no point matching it to other potential species. My son is 22 and I still have rage over this shit.😂

pteromum · 16/02/2026 21:39

Reminds me of this, when DD was 3. We were those parents who sent it to the company and did receive a colouring book in exchange for her proof reading. She was furious.

Gallimimus or ornithomimus

Why in the name of all that is holy are people saying Iguanodon?? There are no thumb spikes which are the main identifying feature of an iguanodon. I will die on this hill.

You are quite right. I stand corrected!

only got halfway through the alphabet on the nhm website but it looks like this to me. Great half term activity to I’d it!

You got there before me. 100% hypsilophodon.

Purplesparklyhippopotamuses · 16/02/2026 20:52

Ok, from my austistic daughter who's special interest is dinosaurs when I asked her if she had any input...
"It's like a mix between t-rex, raptors and sauropods, long story short no clue and that picture shouldn't exist" pretty sure I saw an eye twitch when she saw it 😂

guinnessguzzler · 16/02/2026 20:47

Is OP even coming back, or is this just another drive-by dino id request? You can tell it's the school holidays 🙄

Only joking, I love mumsnet for this sort of random request and the expertise in the replies. Nothing useful to add.

Google Lens says this.

Sprogonthetyne · 16/02/2026 20:36

DS said its probability meant to be Plateosaurus, as they're the most well known soropodimorph, but it actually looks more like a sarahsaurus.

He's 9 years old, autistic, and dinosaurs have been his special intrest since he was 2, so pretty much an expert in paleontology.

Is it not a cartoon velociraptor?

PainterInPeril · 16/02/2026 20:19

Roarasaurus....I'm DEFINITELY an expert! 😉

Somersetbaker · 16/02/2026 20:14

I was expecting a picture of Robert Lowe!

biteysaurus · 16/02/2026 19:40

Gallimimus

menopausalmare · 16/02/2026 19:28

Google lens thinks it's an anatosaurus.

Goose8080 · 16/02/2026 15:29

Gallimimus would be my best guess as an untrained mother of boys who like dinosaurs

InveterateWineDrinker · 16/02/2026 15:29

I sat on one of those once and it splintered - a mega-sore-arse.

TheAutumnCrow · 16/02/2026 15:27

Cartoonasaurus. Roamed the earth during the stereotypaceous era.

GasPanic · 16/02/2026 15:26

I don't think that is supposed to be an accurate representation of a dinosaur.

As people say, the iguanadon the prominent feature is the thumb spikes.

The head is too small for a T rex.

It looks to have the head and next of a sauropod. The body pose (on its hind legs) of a t rex type animal but the arms are too big.

the lower body is pretty fat, more like a sauropod with the legs looking too puny to hold it up and an unrealistically short and fat tail (a longer tail would be needed for balance I think if it was predominately on 2 legs).

I don't know enough about other types to even guess whether it might actually exist.

It's a sad reflection of how unrealistic fridge magnets are getting these days.

NoTouch · 16/02/2026 15:20

It’s just a generic cartoon. Closest would be Iguanodon but it is missing many elements.

Too fat to be a raptor, front legs too short for a sauropod, and legs too long and not sharp enough for a trex or raptor.

can believe I remember any of this nonsense when I barely remember what I had for lunch, ds is 22 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oooo, that's definitely a strong contender!

VioletBees · 16/02/2026 15:19

Is it polite to just ASSUME its identity?

😉

HeadyLamarr · 16/02/2026 15:18

Even a shit rendering of an iguanodon world have prominent thumbs for thumb spikes.

I'm going with gallimimus, but a really naff one.
