This is absolutely ‘just for fun’ on a wet Sunday, so please take this in the spirit that it’s intended!

I was at an 18th birthday party a few weeks ago. I went to the buffet and there was hot and cold food (think curry and sandwiches) so I had a plate of both. A lovely young man behind me, asked where I was sitting and whether I needed help, carrying one of the plates back.

Im able bodied and 44 😆 but appreciated the sentiment

Your turn!

Telling the young people at work about a time before halloumi and avocados were mainstream groceries

Haha indeed. I remember when ‘avacado’ was simply a colour option for bathroom suites 😉

At a wildlife park, looking at the armadillos. I said Oh look, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside!

Everyone there looked at me as if I was an actual serial killer. I was probably a good fifteen years older than the oldest person.

Over the summer I went on a weekend break with my goddaughters - let's call them Mary and Katie and their parents. I really can't remember how the conversation came up - I think we were talking about birthdays. Mary then realised that I was born 'in the last century' - and thought it was the funniest thing ever and suddenly I felt ancient! Luckily Katie then chimed in with: "But Arlanymor is MUCH younger than mum and dad aren't you?!" I'm seven years younger than their parents. So then THEY felt ancient and I felt surprisingly young!

I don’t feel old, actually, but I increasingly feel that people younger than me have a very limited scope compared to me… they just have less experience, and that looks like a disadvantage.
