There is no direct harm to the survivors. The harm lies in the fact that through this act Rupert Lowe has gained some credibility amongst those who don't see further than this one act, as being supportive of women in general.
A closer look at the man reveals he is anything but, and if he managed to turns his ideas into reality the world would be a worse place for countless women.
I'm not a fan of the 'at least he...' defence of misogynists.

Sometimes a stopped clock can be right.
The most extreme historical example I can think of is the support for the abolition of the international slave trade that came not just from abolitionists but from slave owners who wanted to keep the price of the slaves they owned high. Very much supporting the right cause for the wrong reasons.

What gets me is that there were many people (many of them working class women) who fought tooth and nail for years to drag the grooming gangs into the spotlight and have something done. Finally, after it had been front and centre of peoples consciousness for years (the BBC now talks about it a lot. It absolutely isn't still covered up by the MSM even if it was once ignored) Lowe gets involved and we hear "noone has done more to draw attention". Ummm... No

Absolutely no shame on the women using Elon Musk offer of financial support to die their abusers or using Lowes platform to demand justice. They were treated appallingly and have every right to use any tools/resources available to them. That doesn't stop Musk and Lowe being awful people however.

I felt the same about Russel Brand making himself the face of those housing protesters years ago when he was in his lefty god phrase. And look how he turned out.

I think there needs to be an inquiry into the gangs (specific to the gangs in addition to the wider one into CSE generally) and In glad that one is finally happening. However, I can remember when there was a sudden upsurge in pressure for this inquiry and it coincided exactly with a government bill going through parliament to finally put some of the recommendations of the earlier report into CSE into practice. Some very opportunistic politicians egged on by Musk announced at the last minute that they were going to try to stop the bill if it didn't also include an add on about a new inquiry.

Which is just some of the most shameless politicking I can think of. Inquiries matter, but so does putting the results of the inquiries into practice. Otherwise you end up kicking issueinto the long grass by having inquiry after inquiry after inquiry so that politicians can say "lessons will be learnt" while learning absolutely nothing. It felt incredibly cynical for some right wing MPs to suddenly jump on the anti grooming train at that point. Especially because in doing so they were actively trying to block actual positive change.

The fact that the bill that was passed also included provisions about making large tech corporations more responsible for preventing abusers might have had something to do with Musks intervention of course.

That doesn't mean that, by association, pushing for the inquiry is bad now or that the inquiry shouldnt be happening. It's still a good thing. But how things are done does matter sometimes.

Nah I read those emails, musk was like “erm nah I’m busy” and then “I’ll probably bring my wife”.

Probably shouldn’t accuse people of doing stuff if they probably haven’t.

That’s an extremely generous interpretation of email chains that involve Musk requesting to go to the island after Epstein’s conviction in 2008. He literally asked to go on the night with the best parties and said a quiet island life wasn’t what he was looking for.

What is the ultimate harm in survivors of grooming gangs seeking the prosecutions that they’ve been denied?

They’ve been used as political pawns by both sides but that’s meant most of the perpetrators have been denied rightful punishment.

So for me, I don’t care if it causes a political earthquake if victims get the justice they deserve. I’d also add that if it DOES cause an issue then it’s most likely an issue of worthwhile awareness.

Musk also pushed for the files to be released continuously when Trump tried to say they were a conspiracy theory. So it’d be an own goal if he was in them begging to partake in criminal activities.

The (non fake) emails I read were exactly as you say.

FFS he is supported by Musk who is all over the Epstein files begging Epstein for an invitation to paedophile island.

His obsession with 'grooming gangs' is due to the ethnicity of the perpetrators. He couldn't give a shit about CSA committed by white men.

It's the same with him banging on about banning halal meat. He is in favour of blood sports so he actually doesn't give a shit about animal welfare. It's just another campaign motivated by racism.

That’s technically incorrect.

Whether you like Lowe or not, I respect that he’s given the victims more of a voice than the many govt inquiries and allowed them to speak openly. He’s now supporting them with private prosecutions.

I’m glad for the survivors that they’re able to at least be supported to do something. They’ve been left to rot by previous govts because the subject is so distasteful. If the attention around this causes more convictions then I for one am glad for them.

One woman managed to get a 200k settlement from a private prosecution, the fucker who raped her is going to have to sell his house. I look forward to all the private prosecution to come (hopefully). Elon Musk has offered to help fund private legal action, which again I completely support. I am equally happy fir anyone wanting to pursue legal action against white rapists to do so as well.

I don’t understand women who are anti-raping kids until it’s politically inconvenient to them that people are talking about it. It really shouldn’t be about politics, it should be about justice.

Also I don’t understand what harm can come from survivors talking about their experiences. Except to the perpetrators of course, which I am extremely comfortable with.

It matters. Beause if a good thing is done to further a harmful cause, the ultimate harm done may outweigh the good.

I dont see why it matters what anyone’s motivation for helping up an enquiry into rape gangs is. It’s led by the victims (remember them).
Is it that the right thing can only be done by people with pure intentions? The outcome doesn’t matter as long as all the correct opinions are intact?

Of course it matters.

The only give a shit because it gets them money, not because they give a flying fuck about the actual victims or the outcome of their faux outrage. They aren't supporting victims in court or supporting organisations who care for the victims, it's all about the grift.

I think it’s great that Lowe has set up in opposition to Farage. Anything that splits the vote is positive.

Rupert has done more than any of the other parties to highlight the abuse of British girls by "grooming gangs".

HRTQueen · 15/02/2026 23:51

No not Lowe I don’t think he is a concern to Farage he has a loyal support base

but he will now he has a number of big player egos in the party have to watch his back

I think their shall be some infighting soon and hopefully Farage shall go off the the US and Reform shall fold as its really his party

The issue with negative migration is that when you look at the statistics the people who are leaving the uk (British citizens not temporarily resident) are highly educated and wealthy. Those arriving here are generally less educated and have few financial resources so despite working can often be reliant on state support with universal credit and access to social housing. This is not economically sustainable.

So are those people (educated and well paid) sneering liberal elites who don't understand the working class or are they the only ones supporting the country and it's poorly paid benefit scrounging lower tier? Its hard to keep up.

Well many are also leaving because they don’t like the direction in which the country is headed with the upsurge in racism and fascism, including skilled workers.

Reform and Lowe's new even more right wing party are not parties for ordinary working class people though, they are Parties run by and for rich people exploiting poorer people's anxieties.
I was born and brought up in a council house, my family is firmly working class, I resent the implication that all working class people are concerned about is immigration and therefore drawn towards these far right parties. Most of us are not.
Most of us are much too intelligent to be taken in by the rhetoric and more concerned about the price of food and rent to worry about the very small number of asylum seekers.
Besides latest numbers actually suggest we could have negative migration soon anyway and we will probably have to beg people to come over here.

Do you think that premiership footballers came to Britain illegally in small boats and were housed in hotels prior to getting their contracts with their clubs?

You make no distinction between anyone who lives and works here who wasn't born here and you think people who support Reform are stupid and racist?

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of either Farage or this other guy but the snobbery and viciousness of the Mumsnet class about ordinary working-class people's concerns is so vile that I don't blame anyone for voting for them.

I'm working class. Plenty of racists don't care why or how someone is here, and would like all non-white people sent 'home'.

Well this is a thread about Rupert Lowe.

Edited

And what? You quoted the numbers as if they were fact and also confidently said ‘Rupert Lowe will be the next prime minister 2029’ less than 24 hours after he’s publicised a party and 3.5 years away from a GE. Get a grip of yourself.

It’s an audacity to take the piss out of what other people say after that bollocks. No doubt if Labour got rid of all the immigrants over night you wouldn’t believe it anyway, people like you never do and you’re never happy, you’ll just carry on being in a state of perpetual anger and wanting others to suffer because you think it will somehow quell your own misery.

Labour have cut immigration by half and are on track to get it down to net Zero by next year. Reform and others no longer serve any purpose beyond a rather empty protest vote.

32 million people have viewed Lowe's manifesto over the last 48hrs and he now has over 50,000 paid up members to his party. Have a look on X.

I and many of my friends viewed it, and none of us would piss on him if he was on fire, what's your point?
