I thought that my neighbours were moving their furniture about when it thundered. I thought that the moon was made of cheese. I thought that periods started on the first day of each month.

I was a huge Abba fan as a very young kid (still am!). My db hated them. He told me that every time I played their records (showing my age!) it forced them to sing, and sometimes they really wanted a rest. I believed him for a while then wondered what would happen if 2 different Abba songs were played in 2 different houses. How would they manage to sing 2 different songs at the same time? 🤔

I thought the roadworks sign: 'Heavy Plant Crossing' meant just that. The only heavy plants I knew of were trees. 😂

In the years of The Triffids, when much younger, those signs did indeed conjure up images of triffid type plants crossing 😆

I thought every song on the radio was live and performed at the moment it was being broadcasted.

I thought red grapes got their colour from the dead dogs that were buried under the plants, thats what my great grandad told me and I didn't eat red grapes for years because I was horrified and it upset me so much.

I think about how silly I must have sounded every time I chuck them in my trolley 🤣

😂😂 That’s insane!

That when you flush the loo on an aeroplane you will get sucked through. Still nervous now.

I thought Henry VIII's second wife was called Amber-Lyn. Never saw it written down. Thought she must be like Madonna and didn't need a surname as she was famous.

My brother convinced me that all the sheep that live on the Welsh hills are called Sprogglegrommits and have 2 legs longer than the other so they can stand up on the hills.

I thought if you turned on the switch on an electric socket without there being a plug in, the electricity would run out onto the floor.

For a while, I believed that my uncle Brian and Brian Ferry were the same person. They have the same name and are actually quite similar-looking. However, i was very blasé about having such a famous uncle because i was only about 4 years old…

I thought that if a character died in coronation street the actor died in real life.

I thought God's name was Peter because at Mass we said "Thanks Peter God" (non-Catholics, the line was Thanks Be To God!)

I thought my dad knew almost everyone who had a car because he would wave to so many people.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 14/02/2026 15:53

That everybody who died was mentioned on the news upon passing.

I was very confused when someone said their family member died as I hadn’t seen it on the news before (luckily I didn’t voice that!)
