DH and I were assuming the half pipe commentators were absolutely stoned on weed as everything single thing was SO amazing and WOW and Incredible and Can’t Speak and and and ….. it was literally Bill n Ted on the microphones.

I love them. They get excited about everyone regardless of nationality. They just enjoy great sportsmen and women.

ApolloandDaphne · 13/02/2026 21:03

Woohoo. He was fabulous!

OMG how good was Matt? You could see as he went down how fast he cut those corners. So slick.

DS is up for it! He plays rugby, it can’t be any more dangerous than that, can it…?

Does your average prop forward run into a scrum at 80mph with a set of blades attached to his shins?

VaxMerstappen · 13/02/2026 21:01

He smashed it! Nearly nine tenths difference is incredible.

Arraminta · 13/02/2026 21:01

Ah yes, The Baking Tray Death Chute. Love it. See also 'Falling Down A Precipice Whilst Happening To Be Wearing Skis' otherwise known as downhill ski-ing.

Don’t you remember Lizzy Yarnold winning Gold twice? She’s in the studio with Clare B.

bookworm14 · 13/02/2026 20:56

Here comes the German flying ace again!

edwinbear · 13/02/2026 20:56

What’s so impressive is the amount of funding these athletes get, in terms of Team GB and sponsorship, is minuscule in comparison to what summer Olympic athletes get. They are doing it on a shoestring budget and it must be so much more expensive than training at the incredible athletics facilities summer athletes have access to.

And Amy Williams the time before her. We have a good track record in tea tray madness.

What's the difference between luge and skeleton?

Skeleton face first, lying down

Luge toes first, lying face up

BennyHenny · 13/02/2026 18:49

How do you even get into this sport?! I’d give it a go but no idea where you’d even try it! 😂

Bath University has a short skeleton course I think. They practice the most essential parts where they can pick up speed.

LemonLymanDotCom · 13/02/2026 20:47

Uh oh, maybe I’m the nutter cos I keep watching thinking it looks like amazing fun. What a rush!

I think a Georgian athlete died in Whistler. Was that 2010? He went too high, flew off the track and hit a pole.

There wa someone who died doing Skeleton but it was because a bob sleigh entered the track during training - the blades!

doesn't bear thinking about

thenightsky · 13/02/2026 20:41

sittingonabeach · 13/02/2026 20:39

Who is going to volunteer? Well support you 😂

I'll do it. Never mind I'm 66 with 2 hip and 1 knee replacement, I was a fair sprinter back in the day...
