To think the way MN lets anti trans extremists hijack a tragedy is pretty despicable

I’ve read several threads full of hate filled anti trans ideology diatribes with zero thoughts for the victims, Canadians upset asking for some empathy and making it clear they as a nation just need to grieve, anti trans hate speech….

Jumping on a human tragedy to push your extremist agenda whilst MN just sits back and lets it happen on multiple threads is as low as you can get.

One wonders how low MN is going to sink. It’s such an unpleasant place now. I guess all HQ cares about now is getting a good price in the sell off.

People who shoot their mothers, step brothers and school children are mentally unwell, yes.

Pretending this was a teenage girl, when it was a boy, is a lie.

The overlap between the mental health status and 'trans' what ever that is needs to be discussed, yes.

Why people are trying to pretend that the 'trans' whatever that is effect needs hushing up is mind-blowing.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:39

What is the relevance? Yes, 4 boys were killed, his own stepbrother for one. Along with his mother, a female teacher and 4 girls.

I don't think most people on here are 'extremists' or 'anti-trans activists'. Most of us are just regular mums who don't want our daughters to have to share loos and changing spaces with blokes.

People are annoyed about the reporting of that crime because some outlets were suggesting the murderer was female. This is not a woman's crime. The murderer was not female.

Of course we are concerned about the victims. Too many women and children die due to male violence. Including here.

This isn’t about toilets and boys were killed too.

Seriously- you’re pushing this agenda still over the victims. Boys were killed too!!!!

This is a general point about women’s spaces, privacy, dignity and safety. I don’t even know if this young man used women’s spaces. But your ideology maintains that he should be able to, no?

NumbersGuy · 13/02/2026 07:31

The supposition that all trans persons are mentally unwell is a continuing opinion for many people, no matter what the age. Unfortunately what will happen is nothing because people will be focusing on the fact this individual was trans identifying. It will never be known as to the actual reason(s) they committed such a horrendous act, but what's more distressing is the fact a teenager without enough mental wellness checks by adults in their environment could have possibly prevented this tragedy with the loss of so many lives.

The UK recorded only 499 homicides ending the year in September 2025, 45 were done by juveniles under the age of 18. Canada had 72 juveniles commit homicides, out of 788 in 2024. Mental health checks for young people are needed to avoid this type of tragedy. It's also never helpful for ANYONE to use associate people who are different than society's standards, should be labeled with some mental imbalance. Without some drastic changes for more mental health wellness for ALL young people, this will just increase. There will always be people who thrive on hating on others and never take accountability for their actions, as you can never fix ugly on the inside.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:20

Exactly. The rights issue for women is that we are expected to welcome mentally unstable, hair trigger tempered violent and resentful men (a proportion of “trans women”) into the specific spaces where we are most vulnerable.

Seriously- you’re pushing this agenda still over the victims. Boys were killed too!!!!

Its common behaviour when a tragic event occurs that people talk about issues linked to the event, rather than confining themselves to expressions of sympathy and sorrow for the victims, surely?
The death of Charlie kirk prompted much debate about freedom of speech and gun laws. The killing of American citizens by ICE has prompted much talk about immigration and Trump. We have discussed male patterns of sexual abuse of women and children following the Epstein files and the conviction of the most recent male pedophile nursery worker. Members of the trans community are focusing on their fear this will make their lives harder, and expressing positivity because Canadian news outlets have not 'misgendered' the killer.
Whether you consider such tangential conversation disgusting, disrespectful and weaponising victims for your cause, or a necessary conversation in order that we might seek to prevent further harms will depend entirely on your own politics and values.

Seagullstopitnow · 13/02/2026 07:28

If the shooter HAD actually been a woman, the TRAs would have been all over it using it to push their agenda, ignoring the victims.

So no. I think we will discuss the violent males in our spaces thank you.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:27

Blu3Shoes · 13/02/2026 07:00

We all know the anti trans bullies would sweep in and take over any threads about victims.

The point is common decency means the victims is all anybody should be thinking about not glee that it’s a great opportunity to push extremist ideology.

The thing is, as was pointed out on other threads, that threads about tragedies aren’t just about saying how tragic they are. Obviously that’s true but they tend to focus on how the tragedy occurred/what can be done to prevent similar. So any thread which doesn’t mention the background and previous life of the perpetrator is IMO ignoring the elephant in the room.

Chersfrozenface · 13/02/2026 07:23

Agree OP. In the last twenty years this has become a very different place but then so has society in general.

That will be because Mumsnetters and the general public have become aware of the enormous harms caused by gender ideology, particularly to women and children.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:20

And as you say this was not a female crime, and yes it does matter.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:20

KillTheTurkey · 13/02/2026 07:05

This has nothing to do with ‘trans rights’.

We are not anti-trans ‘bullies’. We believe that women and children are at risk from male perpetrators of violence, and how these male criminals identify makes no difference to their criminal profile. We simply do not accept male crimes as our crimes, and would like them reported as such.

Exactly. The rights issue for women is that we are expected to welcome mentally unstable, hair trigger tempered violent and resentful men (a proportion of “trans women”) into the specific spaces where we are most vulnerable.

@Shedmistress YES and we want to discuss it, Amy Hamm case going to the Supreme Court. Hopefully that opens the door.

Lets hope so. Amy is incredible to just keep going.

How about this; the victims wouldn’t be dead if BOYS didn’t get their heads filled with the absurd notion that they can become girls or more ridiculous yet BELIEVE they would ever be accepted as such.
Yes, Canadians want to discuss this ridiculous ideology. Believing you’re born in the wrong body IS mentally ill.

And Canada has basically banned any discussion about it. Or any mental health support.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:12

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/02/2026 07:00

And also, several Canadians have clearly said they do want to discuss this issue, in one of the few places they can. Who are you to arbitrarily decide which Canadians should be listened to?

Care to address this point OP?

So bullies get to take over and push out people who have been here from the beginning.

It has to be said that pointing out the obvious is not bullying ... and if it was, exactly how do you think we got to this point?

Oh, yes, because the trans rights extreme activists bullied and threatened people, silenced them and threatened them with rape, violence and murder.

As others have pointed out, your post is all about the poor trans, and very little about the victims here.

Ablondiebutagoody · 13/02/2026 07:11

I can call out vile behaviour without being told to leave.

I think starting goady threads to throw around personal abuse at other posters is “vile behaviour”. And this is a TAAT.
