Anonymous valentines card from a woman in my street

I’ve just received an anonymous valentines card from a woman in my street. The card had a stamp on it and it said “The woman within” and my address! The card mentions her seeing me walking to my bus and how she waits for her husband and kids to go out and…well! She says she’s bisexual and she goes into detail about what she wants to do to me…omg!

The card was posted first class, why pay for a stamp lol. Could this be a hoax? It was quite specific about seeing me walking to my bus.

I’m separated from my ex - could it be him or his family playing a prank? Or do I have a randy, bisexual neighbour??

I dunno what to think! 🙈

OP posts:

I’d just be flattered 🤷‍♀️
no big deal.
you’re clearly fitter than you thought walking to your bus, OP

EstherGreenwood63 · 12/02/2026 10:29

Ah just another creepy aggressive man OP. V likely your inadequate ex. Don't give any reaction but put it in the shed/garage in case relevant for future dealings. 💐

Amber198 · 12/02/2026 10:25

I’d just go round with the card, show her and ask if she sent it. If she did, it’s fucking creepy behaviour and needs confronting and calling out- if she didn’t then she deserves to know some other weirdo is sending shit like that on her behalf.

FrostyFlo · 12/02/2026 10:23

Personally I'd speak to her, and ask if she has sent something via the post to your house . If she says no , then say somebody then is trying to make trouble for her or you .
If she says yes then say it is unwelcome ( if it was ) and ask for her not to do it again.
If it happened to me I'd also be telling my dh to tell him hopefully it's nipped in the bud .

socialdilemmawhattodo · 12/02/2026 10:22

I thought stamps were barcoded now and could be tracked. Worth seeing if the local post office can give you any more info.

honeylulu · 12/02/2026 10:19

I would be astonished if it was anyone other than your ex given the context, the style of card (really does not strike as the choice of card for a woman to send another woman) and the explicit prose (again, much more of a man thing). I'm sure you are lovely OP and lots of men and women would fancy you but this time it's far more likely to be your stupid ex stirring up trouble or trying to make you uneasy.

Do you have a new partner? I'm wondering if this is a crass way for your ex to try and put the cat among the pigeons.

On a lighter note I have seen a spoof lurpak advert about valentines day/knob of butter. I'll try and find it.

Why would someone in your street post a card with a stamp on it?

If OP has a ring doorbell, this may be a reason or they just worried about OP witnessing them post it?

It’s kind of odd behaviour. Whoever it is should have closed their phone number at least and I would be curious enough to message personally.

Didn’t want to risk being caught putting it the letterbox ?

VickyEadieofThigh · 12/02/2026 10:09

I'm voting with the 'That's from a man, almost certainly your ex' camp.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 12/02/2026 10:03

This is the start of a "gripping psychological thriller" (probably) coming soon to Netflix. Spoiler-there is no lustful bisexual stalker-its a bloke.
Im putting five bob on it being ex or batshit family. Hang on to it, in case there's any more.

Goldfsh · 12/02/2026 09:52

How weird! Sounds like your ex (BORING) but I'd be keeping an eye out for any lingering glances from the lady in No. 37....

I have a big crush on a woman neighbour. DH and I refer to her as "my girlfriend".

MargolyesofBeelzebub · 12/02/2026 09:49

Probably your ex (esp given your update!), but a small possibility it could be this woman's husband.

MuddyPawsIndoors · 12/02/2026 09:47

Of course it's a hoax - someone obviously trying to stir up trouble.

She's not going to go to all the trouble of making herself anonymous and then telling you all about herself!

Just bin it and don't react, otherwise the shit stirrer will get exactly what they want.

Eddiestrangerthings · 12/02/2026 09:46

Lairymary · 12/02/2026 06:55

And how could she do that when she has no way of communicating that? She doesn't even know who it's from....

true.

Inside it says -
I am a married female admirer of yours who lives in your street and I would love to make love to you.
I see you often walking to your bus and if my husband is at work and the kids are at school, I often lie on my bed (….explicit content)

I want to £&@! you so very much!

? xxx

I'd say a man wrote that.

I agree with pp, that's more threatening than harmless, and is probably your Ex or his pub mate.

Edit - didn't see your last post. It's 100% your Ex.

InconvenientlyMaterial · 12/02/2026 09:35

After your last update, it's definitely your ex.

He's hoping to get you into an embarrassing situation on your street. He'll assume (because you're somewhat bi) that you're automatically really into the idea of a woman on your street fancying you and that you'll approach some of the married mothers with kids.

Extra info (apologies-I don’t mean to drip feed!)
A few years ago when my husband and I were still together I confided in him saying I did not identify as 100% straight, when we got together he knew I had kissed a few women in the past. He reacted very badly and started listing all these highly graphic sexual stuff saying would you do that? Not in a curious way but in a nasty, intimidating way. He then said he had to text his mother, I begged him to keep it confidential or if he had to just talk to his friends, not his mother. So I’m wondering if it’s her or his family as I’ve since left him?

Yeah, in that case it’s your ex husband who sent the card.

Just bin it.

"Knob of butter"

Anyone else getting vibes from the 'wedding bad behaviour' thread where the guest popped his penis into a buttered roll and offered it round?

It was almost certainly not from a woman OP. An interesting mystery though. I would keep it as evidence in case it escalates.

Was just going to post this.....

Surely the OP is having us on?!

OvernightBloats · 12/02/2026 09:29

This card is a prank. Definitely don't interpret it in any other way than the sender has given it to you as a joke.

Could be that the sender wants to wind you up. Laugh it off, tell everyone about this stupid card. Don't take it seriously - the sender might want you to react in this way.

pixieee · 12/02/2026 09:28

Only a man would do that. He sounds like a knob of butter.

cinquanta · 12/02/2026 09:25

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 12/02/2026 09:17

I'd bet money on this being a man.
Why would a women wanting to attract another women send that card?

Another poster has already given a reason why a women would send the card. It’s not to attract.

EdithBond · 12/02/2026 09:16

Doesn’t sound genuine to me. Can’t imagine a woman sending that to a neighbour. But guess it’s possible. Obviously posted rather than had delivered to protect their identity, in case you or close neighbours have a ring doorbell.

Suggest logging it with the police, so you have a record in case it escalates. It’s sexually explicit and unsolicited. May be some sort of creepy person other than your ex or his family. And, whoever it is, they clearly know where you live.

And keep it (as well as envelope) in a ziplock bag.

Additup · 12/02/2026 09:12

Jane143 · 12/02/2026 08:35

I am the only one curious as to what the sexually explicit comments in the card say?

I agree, I'm also here for the explicit comments 😁

TheBlueKoala · 12/02/2026 09:00

Your ex wants you to go around pestering the female neighbours asking if they sent a v-card to embarrass you.

If this had been real the woman would not have chosen a card with a knob nor would she have expressed herself so crudely without knowing you.
