Why on Earth haven't the authorities described the shooter as 'white male, brown hair, wearing a blue dress'. Completely clear, accurate and factual.

@AnSolasToday is a day to mourn the loss of 9 people in a small community. We can argue about the rest tomorrow.

Many of us in Canada are ' awake' and pushing back and will continue to do so.
Today we grieve.

You are free to choose others will make other choices.

Ninerainbows · 11/02/2026 17:02

Rather baffled as to why someone would say Canada and America are "the same" due to "both being America". Mexico is also on the continent of North America - are they the same culturally too?! I think not.

Sad,.sad day here in BC. Regardless of who the shooter was and what they're being called ( As of this morning the news CTV Van are not giving any details at all about the shooter neither are the RCMP). That's an important discussion for another day. This morning many heartbroken families aren't rushing around trying to get their teens up and ready for school, they are grieving as are the wider community. As I drop my highschooler off this morning it hits hard, when you wave them off you're expecting to see them again later.

The local police know who it is and if the shooter was male or not.

Plus given the size of the communit there everyone there will know or know of the killer.

Holding back that information only makes people speculate more and make the killing more "attractive" as a media lead.

The fact is that women in general do not carry out this type of mass killing.

The unusual nature of it being labled as a woman shooting up a school after killing her family will only add to the morbidness of the killings.

Today is the day to examine if and why the State of Canada would lable this as a womans crime.

Today is the day to examine if the authorities are withholding information on the sex or gender of the killer for political reasons.

Today is the day to examine what would happen to a male mass killer who claims to be a woman/female in the Canadian Justice system.

Would the State record his sex as female at the trial?

Would the State oblige witnesses to say they were shot by a woman?

Would the State oblige family who lost children have to say the male killer was a female?

Upon conviction would the State send him to a Womens Prison rather than a Mens Prison?

Would the State force the female inmates to provide him with companionship and female employees to pretend he was female when they carry out their duties?

Would the State punish female inmates for refusing comply by making her serve extra time?

Hug your children but ask if your child was killed should your State be given authority to force you to lie about circumstance and the killer.

Don't be ridiculous. They are both on the continent of North America. They are separate countries. That's like saying we are culturally the same as Albania - both in Europe

Maybe Trump has joined Mumsnet. He also has trouble with geography 😂

I know that Canada is not legally recognised as a state of United States technically, I know that. They are different countries technically.

But what I am saying that, culturally, Canada and the United States are one and the same. They are both America.

Like how England and Scotland are both different countries but are both Britain, even if they have different laws.

XelaM · 11/02/2026 15:10

The statistics do not support the claims made here that transgender people are over represented in school shooting perpetrators.

Bearing in mind that the whole transgender nonsense is a fairly recent phenomenon, it's completely unfair to compare statistics of ALL school shootings over the years and say that they weren't perpetrated by transgender men pretending to be women. It would be more accurate to compare school shootings of RECENT years.

This is bullshit though. England and Scotland are part of one sovereign country, the United Kingdom, and are each a constituent country within that, as are Wales and NI. They are governed by Westminster apart from some devolved issues.

The US and Canada are just entirely separate countries, like the United Kingdom and France, for instance.

It is tragic that so many people died at the hands of a hate filled shooter.

The amount of hate against transwomen being expressed on this thread is equally reprehensible.

The statistics do not support the claims made here that transgender people are over represented in school shooting perpetrators.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

You think expressing an opinion compares to murdering children? Like a total moral equivalency?

Oh how did you do that small 1?

Off topic answer 👀 not a merail😅

Using my keyboard on the phone.
¹ is a press and hold 1 and i get a pop up box with a range of options eg ⅛ plus ²⁹⁰ on other keys.

If you are on a laptop (etc) keyboard you can check the web as there are combination key pressing which will do the same

Thank you. According to that, then, 2019 - 2025 there have been 1,726 school shootings. Of which four(?) have so far been identified on this thread as being perpetrated by trans-identifying people.

Apparently 4 out of 1,726 is an overwhelming majority for some people.

Overwhelming majority perpetrated by men - whether they wear a dress or not.

What is your point?

A 17 year old is classed "a man" not "a woman" if he male.

A 17 year old male may legaly be a child but he would¹ old enough to understand what he decided to do was unlawful and that a mass murder of friends and family is wrong.

A 17 year old male would be old enough to stand trial¹ to answer for his choices if he was captured in time by law enforcement.

¹usual blabla re MH

Canada head of state is a King - the same one who is head of state in UK - and is like UK is a constitutional monarchy at the moment.

US famously doesn't currently have a King and is not a constitutional monarchy but has an elected head of state the US president.

No.

There have very different outlooks and laws. USA and Canada are not techincally different countires they are different countries - in every way.

They elect different govenments with different system with different laws - have their own miltary and have different history to US and while they currently coperate they are still different independent countries and have different passports - documents usually needed to travel to other countries.

Scotland and England have differences in law - and some difference in goverance - but they are in a Union with England to make up the country of the UK - the United Kingdom. UK law still applied to everyone in UK with some local variations but regional pareliments can not overide UK laws.

The UK is made up of three countries England, Wales and Scotland and one providence N.I. While three of those have regional parliments/assemblies we are still all voting in one election for UK ie westminster government- we still have one lot of armed forces - we have one overall government and we still sign International Treaties* *with other countries with that one government - we still have same passports to travel aboard all UK passports. The countries in UK would be better compared to states in US - some local automomy and differences in law though that is not a perfect analogy.

The situations are entirely different.

No no no

England and Scotland are both part of the political unit of the UK.

Canada and America are both part of a geographical unit of 'North America'

They are not 'technically' different countries, they are completely different countries socially, politically, in sovereignty. They share the same continent, in the way France does with Spain

They also share membership of various organisations and governing bodies just like France shares with Spain or we do with Germany

Thats all there is to it

You shouldnt be linking them in that way

The counts of school shootings in the US per year on wikipedia were just totals, not broken out by sex. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say that 99+% were perpetrated by men.

So
If 99% was male killers

Then looking at the % of Trans Iding Males (TIM) and Trans Iding Females (TIF) means the quoted % is moved when taken at a population level.

1% of TIM + TIF
1% of TIM

There is a difference and lots of reports fail to pick up on that.

I am giving that poster an opening to explore why any view which is about women is classed as "anti-trans".

It is rather obvious that if one can label the person or issue "anti-trans" one can lable the person or issue "transphobic" etc

Which is imo why NHS Fife ended up with a head of an ED wanting to call the police on a woman who said she did not want to change her clothing in what should have been the Womens Changing room.

How the senior manager came to believe calling the police was an appropiate reaction is an interesting question on social engineering.

Exactly. What that poster really means to say is that they are anti-women. Because if being pro-women is 'anti-trans', then pro-trans is anti-women.

At least seven dead after school shooting in British Columbia

Yes. Still America in every way culturally. The second amendment applies in society.

They are not.

It's why the 51 State stuff from Trump has turned into a massive boycott of US goods- that many US citizens apparently don't understand as they think it about tariffs and not insulting candian national pride.
