Attended one yesterday as a bridesmaid. The brides cousin was also a bridesmaid, spent the whole morning clearly aggrieved that the day wasn't about her... smoked in the getting ready suite and had to be told to put it out, then lit up again and claimed she had forgotten when the bride told her and made a snarky comment..then presented her silver converse she had customised to wear with her dress as she "doesn't really do heels"... the bride ignored her and sweetly said "at this point I don't think I can stop you" as she knows what she's like then what do you know, she wears the heels! There were loads of instances like this all day and she is 28 but seemed to want to just be am inconvenience all day which I assume was jealousy...even little things like being late for photos and pretending not to hear when called over, pushing the food round her plate, really ungracious behaviour. The wedding was fantastic! She could have really enjoyed it much more. Not really an aibu but whats the worst behaviour youve seen like this?

When I was 14 my Dad took me to his good friend's wedding (my Mum was away with work).

I befriended the bridal party and spent the time between the ceremony and reception doing shots of rum in the parking lot with them (it was that sort of wedding..). Needless to say I was rapidly legless and vomited all over the door to the venue. It was the first time I had ever been drunk and the hangover was epic. My Dad thought it was funny, and to this day we've never told my Mum.

A work colleague invited his former step mother- the OW from his parents marriage. Apparently she is nice and really helpful during A-Levels /College.

Hi dad got back with her at the wedding! His poor mother, and he had no clue why people were shocked.

The father of one of the grooms did a speech and he just talked about how his awful it was that his son didn’t have a wife he was also racist towards his sons husband, he was quickly removed and my friend the groom never spoke to him again.

At one wedding the mother of the bride and the brides aunt were caught doing cocaine in the toilets, they had tried to sell some to a waiter so the police were called and they were assested for supplying and selling drugs. The mother ended up in prison, her house was searched and it was clear the drugs on the property weren’t for personal use, unless she lived with a coke addict hoover.

My husbands parents turned up to ours (they weren’t invited), luckily venue staff has been pre-warned about them, a few guests were fairly merry by this time as well, my elderly great aunt told them to go and fuck themselves. I’ve never heard her ever say anything rude about anyone so I was both shocked and proud.

I used ot be apolice officer and responded to a stabbing at a wedding once. It was the bride's dad who stabbed his brother!

For wedding's I've been a guest at - I went to one where the bride's dad seemed to spend the entire time putting his wife down. The bride ended up being a bit of a disaster as a wife (I was a friend of the groom) but from what I witnessed at the wedding I'm not surprised. I can't imagine growing up in a home where your dad talked about your mum with such contempt could really be conducive to developing good intimate relationships.

The groom and mates arrived at the church straight from the pub. Announced that he needed a piss, whipped it out and did it in front of everyone up against a grave stone.

Bridesmaid at my aunt and uncle’s wedding- I drank repeatedly from the bridesmaid glass by mistake all through dinner, sang a song about a bird spinning round and round my plate at full pelt, fell off my chair and had to be put to bed.

1973, I was 3 and had been necking blue nun

Late 1980s winter wedding. The bridesmaids dresses had been hired and had very short sleeves.

Once we got to the hotel for the reception there was sherry as a welcome drink.

More than one adult gave the youngest bridesmaid a sherry to 'warm her up' 7 year olds have no idea that they are supposed to sip and not neck a drink. One tipsy bridesmaid.

A wedding where the day before the reception they phoned to say the room was double booked.

When we got there there was supposed to be mulled wine on arrival, there wasn't and the bride was about to melt down. I had on my 'Bolshy boots' so I went to find a manager. I went in the bar and asked the server to get the manager. While I was waiting some bloke stood beside me and ordered a beer, "On the wedding tab", well my bolsh decided that was not on, I asked him if he could name either the bride or the groom? I told the server no one from the wedding was in the bar yet. I wonder how often that guy has free drinks from wedding parties.

When we checked out someone had charged a meal to our room. And the hotel tried to argue that we had eaten in the restraunt.

At an adult only wedding, the MOB invited her friends with their 5 year old to the evening do. The friends brought their daughter in what could easily be a wedding dress.

Yeah why did he put butter on it?

It would have been a bit dry otherwise.

fucketyfucketyfuckerty · 09/02/2026 04:12

An ex mil of someone I knew wore two different white dresses to her daughter’s wedding. 🤯

Am I the only one who thinks the penis in the bun guy should be locked up? Sicko !!

Yeah why did he put butter on it?

FlappyThing · 08/02/2026 21:05

Friend of the groom whipped his penis out, put it in a bread roll, buttered it and went round the tables offering it to old ladies.

You win.

SorryAboutTheWine · 09/02/2026 02:36

God, these stories are amazing! Perhaps it's time to stop feeling terrible about the nearly full bottle of red wine I knocked all down the front of the bride's gorgeous, custom-made, cream silk dress 😳

She was lovely about it but I've never quite forgiven myself! It seems I score very low on the Dreadful Guest scale, now I've read these. Phew ...

Mine isn’t too bad compared to some on here but one table drank the finger bowls at my wedding.

Disgraceful.
Are you still talking to them?

CrocsNotDocs · 09/02/2026 02:19

I encounter very little drama in my life so this wedding was very satisfying, as the good guys won the day.

Groom was a lovely hardworking man unfortunate enough to be born into a family of absolute losers, takers and grifters. He had pulled himself out of his family crab pot and had become very successful in his career. He was cajoled into having his golden child brother as best man.

Golden child best man did not like his brother being the centre of attention so at the reception started shouting that the bride looked like a blacmange and he pitied his brother having to do that fat pig. I was agog- I had never seen people behave like this in my life. The groom punched his brother and then his father punched the groom for daring to punch precious golden child boy. The parents and brother then stormed off to their free hotel room that the groom had paid for, taking several bottles of champagne from tables. Groom got this look on his face like the FOG had broken. He corralled his other groomsmen and the bride’s brothers to go to the house that he owned but which his brother and parents lived in rent free. No rental agreement. The house was emptied that night and all stuff moved to a storage unit which the groom paid 1 month’s rent. Locks were changed.

I wasn’t there to see the arrival of the no doubt hungover parents and brother the next day but I heard it was epic. Break-ins were attempted, police were called, the groom spent a lot of his honeymoon on the phone sorting it but the end result was the awful parents and brother never set foot in that house again and the bride and groom have cut them out of their lives like a tumour. And they are still a lovely couple.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 09/02/2026 02:15

Sorry, Stephen.

Many years ago, an old friend was the plus one for a MoB on a TV series, Don't tell the Bride. He said that the groom had an interesting family and somewhere there is a recording of the Groom's family kicking off at the reception after the cameras allegedly stopped rolling. He said it was a busy evening for him, as back then he was a Consultant in A&E... and he had not expected to be working that evening!

I always wondered about the behind the scenes of DTTB. A couple come to mind. Groom spending all the budget on a piss up in Las Vegas and giving the Hen a budget for a round at the local pub and that one where he dragged her to some some muddy pig farm. 😂

At a child free wedding, the bride's very drunk mum started charging at random male guests & trying to take their trouser belts off. The bride was sat the top table equally drunk and egging her mum on much to the shock of her new husband & in laws. Surprisingly the marriage didn't last due to the very obvious culture clash between the two families.

This thread highlights that adults and not children spoil weddings so the no children st weddings brigade don't have a leg to stand on really. Having kids at weddings might stop excessive drunken behaviour and adults behaving like gutter trash.

I regret to inform you that adults who behave badly at weddings and any other social occasion will do so whether children are present are not, and are also more likely to have badly behaved children in tow!

Damn! I came on to say David Starkey!

I know someone who had a similar encounter with him, although as a guest, and described him as an arrogant talentless arsehole.

A very well known (BBC type) guest spat at the venue manager who asked him to extinguish his cigar. (Very notable/landmark type of venue). Then followed with a sea of expletives, telling said venue manager they would have no job in the morning, as the world’s best security escorted him downstairs and left him on the floor, external to the site.
Venue manager was a much younger me. I remained there for a further two and a half years & received the biggest box of chocolates I had ever seen from Fortnum’s with a huge bunch of flowers from the happy couple on the Monday morning. Turned out they barely knew this guest but had caved under pressure from the father of the Groom.
Still chuckle to myself when I see this guest on tv behaving as if butter wouldn’t melt 😂

Oh cant you give us a clue....pleeeeeease

Oh and I once went to a wedding as a plus one, the bride was a 25yo woman marrying a 58yo man He happened to be very rich. And “his first wife was awful” apparently 🙄
An owl delivered their rings onto a little pillow 🤣
The bride got REALLY drunk, got on the mic during the speeches and said “I know you what you’re all thinking, that I’m with him for the money but it’s not true, he’s just great in bed”.
She then vomited down her dress as her equally drunk husband stuck his head under the dress and into her crotch! She actually had to be sent home and when the evening guests arrived there was no bride to greet them.
They were divorced within 2 years.

Also that night one of the bridesmaids slept with another bridesmaid’s boyfriend! But she forgave them both and married him. It was the weirdest experience I’ve ever known.

An owl delivered their rings....sorry but i'm.nearly wetting myself😂😂😂

This guest equally eloquent & knowledgeable in his own specialist subject.
