Attended one yesterday as a bridesmaid. The brides cousin was also a bridesmaid, spent the whole morning clearly aggrieved that the day wasn't about her... smoked in the getting ready suite and had to be told to put it out, then lit up again and claimed she had forgotten when the bride told her and made a snarky comment..then presented her silver converse she had customised to wear with her dress as she "doesn't really do heels"... the bride ignored her and sweetly said "at this point I don't think I can stop you" as she knows what she's like then what do you know, she wears the heels! There were loads of instances like this all day and she is 28 but seemed to want to just be am inconvenience all day which I assume was jealousy...even little things like being late for photos and pretending not to hear when called over, pushing the food round her plate, really ungracious behaviour. The wedding was fantastic! She could have really enjoyed it much more. Not really an aibu but whats the worst behaviour youve seen like this?

I'd forgotten about this until reading this thread:

At my lovely daughter's wedding to an equally nice chap, my BIL turned up in his oily mechanic overalls. Why would you do that?? Why bother to come?? What point was he trying to make? We hadn't (to my knowledge) fallen out, it was done out of pure spite.

With no ongoing problems, I'd have assumed he had to rush to the wedding straight from work rather than leaping to malice. What do you feel he was being spiteful about, and what point would his overalls be making??

CantBreathe90 · 10/02/2026 21:30

That's you told then @CharlotteLightandDark 😂😅 I do hope you appreciate these very insightful and nuanced views about cocaine at it's usage. I imagine you hadn't heard of drug cartels before tonight, but now you have learnt about them, can use the information to get your crazed, out-of-control substance addiction in check!

Went to a wedding where the groom’s family were apparently part of some kind of local gang/mafia. They were all really tall and broad and completely terrifying. At the reception, a few of us were sitting in a booth (the only one left) and three of his family came over and one just said in a menacing voice, ‘this is reserved for us’. We weren’t arguing and scarpered.

The bride ended up in tears after an altercation with one of them and later there was a fight in the car park. I only knew this girl through work (wasn’t entirely sure why I’d been invited) but yeah, the marriage didn’t last.

😳😳

Friend of the groom whipped his penis out, put it in a bread roll, buttered it and went round the tables offering it to old ladies.

😱🤢🤮

Exactly! Can you imagine a bride and groom in there, where did they even come from??
I started working there when midweek it was 50p a drink 😳

I mean, my first thought was Canal Street 😆

As if it was 5th Ave!!! 🤣

Well do I remember the days of the 75p vodka red bull!

My own mother unbeknownst to me , swapped our seating plan around at our wedding so all her friends were at the front and all of ours were at the back.

At a friends wedding I was charged with looking after the grooms mum who was a raging alcoholic. I did quite well, managed to shush her when she started heckling the speeches etc until we got to the grooms speech which she tried to gate crash by getting up and raising a loud slurry toast bang in the middle of it. She tripped over a chair leg and I actually managed to catch her head before it hit the table like some sort of ninja! One of my proudest moments actually!

another friend at the same wedding stole a drive on lawnmower and drove it into the reception hall, which did not go down well at all.

@SabrinaThwaite sorry it wasn't, was the notorious '5th Ave' in Manchester. I remember you used to pay £2 I think to get in, but you'd be given a drinks token on entry which would get you a cheap bottle of beer and a vk lemon and a plastic pint glass so you could start with a power shandy

I’ve posted this before but my sister was a manager at a hotel and if she got stuck for staff she’d ask me to work the bar. Didn’t need to do it but I helped if I could. She had a wedding in the marquee and asked if I could work the hotel bar. No problem but we both recognised the groom as an odious cockwomble from my year in school.

Him and several others were awful to some people in school and I was glad. I was working the hotel bar. One of his crew wandered in to take the piss and brag about how much he was earning working on an assembly line making microwaves. About half what I was making after completing an apprenticeship and I thanked god again that I was working the hotel bar.

About 10pm my sister dashed in and said “Go in there and stop him.” “Stop what?” I replied. “You’ll see. Get in there.”

Ran into the marquee to see the groom and the bragger stark naked, standing on a table and waving their tackle in his MOB’s face.

Me and two staff tapped him on the shoulder and talked him down and wrapped him in a table cloth and dragged him to the honeymoon suite.

I had to google how to spell it 😂

They were 'the thing' a few years ago, Aldi even sold one I think, you had to assemble it yourself!

YOU don't sound like a nice person, did you have to hijack all the attention on a wedding that wasnt yours?

Well actually excuse you , I AM a nice person .
I didn’t hijack all the attention on xbils wedding , I spent most of my time in hotel room !
Everyone had a lovely time & I was a sorry lady .

Wrong thread, @Wierdyperiody?

No - correct thread.

See @Wierdyperiody post yesterday at 18.41.

All kinds of wrong.

A cheeky bump after dinner enables one to manage the affects of alcohol and still be able to speak, dance, engage with everyone appropriately.

This backs up my theory that cocaine users have no self-awareness whatsoever. They always seem to think they are the life and soul of the party, witty and entertaining. Everyone else thinks they are absolute bellends.

Yes exactly. See also problematic drinkers.

Just act like a functioning adult. How hard can it be for an afreroon/evening? If its that hard then you have to start paying attention to yourself honestly.

If you scroll back up the thread this information is there. Poor woman.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 09/02/2026 15:15

Not you as well! Wonder if was the same woman?

Happened to me too, my aunt and a cousin did it. Its "lucky" apparently, seen at other weddings (non family) too, usually an older woman doing it. I think its something to do with it being funny when you take your dress off and there is confetti everywhere, bit like a glitter bomb. Not very funny for the hotel cleaner I would imagine.

Not a problem at the reception and not randy like the other comments but....

My friends from high school were finally getting married. It was great on the lead up to the wedding which was delayed for 2 years because her grandmother and aunts needed to hand embroider the dress as her family was Ukrainian and very traditional. Despite this and getting married in the Eastern Orthodox Church (so very Catholic) it had been agreed that the service would be all in English as the groom wasn't Ukrainian or even Catholic. The priest would do one blessing in Ukrainian and then the standard English ceremony lasting about 15 minutes.

Come the day of the wedding the priest was called away to give last rites to some old boy and a different priest agreed to do the ceremony. Two hours worth of wailing and chanting in Ukrainian and Latin complete with waving incense about. We told our groom friend that we would vouch for him if he wanted an annulment on the basis that he didn't know what was happening throughout the ceremony as apparently the first part was baptising him as a Catholic.

Was the church Catholic or Eastern Orthodox? Not the same thing.

Pedallleur · 10/02/2026 18:14

Oh good Class A drugs at the wedding. The happy couple cut the cake then do their first 'cheeky bump' together. Love how it's trivialised. Honestly, Officer I was letting them have a cheeky bump to let their hair down

Well put @B1anche

I was reading these stories thinking how boring the weddings I’ve been to have clearly been, and then I remembered I went to one and the grooms family got into a fight at the reception!
It was so incredibly odd and out of character.
But certainly nothing compared to some of these!

I am. The cocaine trade destroys lives. People buying this illegal drug are putting money in the hands of organised crime gangs. I'm extremely judgemental of people who are so selfish and lacking in self-control that they would do that.

Agreed. It not only ruins the users life, but their loved ones as well

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/02/2026 18:03

Wierdyperiody · 09/02/2026 22:26

Yep. You can conduct an intimate relationship based on a string of lies with limited physical intimacy ...with a 16 year old girl....sick

Ohhhhh... that breaks my heart 😞

Mine too, none of that would be even slightly funny, either during or after the event.
Just really shit cruel bullying behaviour by absolute twats.
I hope the groom found new friends

Orthodox isn't part of the Catholic church, it's its own whole thing. Which I realise is irrelevant to your post.

Yes you're right. We shouldn't judge those who shit themselves on the dance floor and fight at weddings.

And are funding massive criminal networks involving (amongst other awful things) trafficking and child exploitation.
