The most pernicious secret about Reform

SeriousFaffing · 06/02/2026 12:05

The results from a YouGov poll in December show quite a large difference between men and women of those who would vote Reform at the beginning of 2026.

This has got me thinking about the split and women’s awareness of Reform.

Agree or not, I’m sure that everyone is aware of the links made between Reform and racism… However, I think that a just as big elephant in the room is what appears as pernicious and deep rooted misogyny… I think that the YouGov poll appears to show that women are subliminally - or very - aware of this fact.

When I think of Reform, I see images of white men chanting “we want our country back”. I think of Farage cosying up to the anti abortionists in the USA (many news articles on this) and I think of Reform’s policies to boost the birth rate.

I wonder about wanting ‘our country back’ being as much about harking back to a time when women were not out at work (taking up jobs) and expecting dinner to be on the table when he comes home. No answering back at home or in the work place. And, you know, ‘Protecting our women’ as though a commodity or object… But only when it suits.

What do you think? Am I unreasonable as a woman to worry about Reform getting into Government?

You are unreasonable - no, as a woman, I am not worried about Reform getting into Government.

You are not being unreasonable - I am worried too.

The Darlington nurses didnt want to get naked in front of a man and their union decided to side with the employer. Its been in the news and everything.

Was their union men though?

I'm not sure I follow what you mean by "unions (men) who couldn’t defend nurses".

The vast majority of members and reps in nurses unions are women aren't they? The numbers reflect the number of men/women who are nurses.

Which unions? When?

You are getting a bit desperate - all this stuff out of context! Leave women to think for themselves Gorton and Denton will be the end of Starmer and then eventually the end of the Labour Party run by the unions (men) who couldn’t defend nurses I mean feckin nurses for Gods sake No more I’m voting Reform just to give them a good kicking.

Reform Candidates on women.

Ian Gribbin (Bexhill and Battle)
“Right now all men pay for all women: we pay 80% of tax and you take out 80%. The fact you’re able to write on a technological device is all down to us."

“The cultural feminisation of the west is a disaster of epic proportions. We have elevated female characteristics – especially neuroticism, to the highest levels. Hysteria is now common place. The evidence from repeated psychologically testing is that women are appalling at taking criticism."

“Modern feminism belongs in the sewer of self hate from which it came: you say it yourself, you’re all jealous of the perceived freedoms of men.”

Andrew Banwell (Thornbury and Yate)
Called Theresa May “Merkels Bitch”.

Malcolm Cupis, (Melksham and Devizes)
Said of a woman dancing "behaving like a gutter slut" “This disgusting performance .... encourages misogyny in boys.

Another woman was referred to as a "malignant old hag".
Mr Cupis told the BBC he stood by his comments and would not apologise.

John Edwards (Southampton) referred to women appearing on ITV2's Love Island as "thick tarts" and the former leader of the Liberal Democrats Jo Swinson as a "gobby bird".

Sam Woods-Brass (Houghton and Sunderland South)
shared a photo of a raw chicken and said it reminded him of an erotic image of his girlfriend.

These are the attitudes of men Reform attract.

Using your vote to "own liberals" comes at a substantial cost. As Trump voters in the US are finding out.😱

Fortunately Reform are a weird, privately owned mess so I doubt they'll be forming the next government.🤷‍♀️

What are you on about. All women against gender ideology I know also support abortion rights. Why are you claiming it’s an ‘either/or’?

Campaigning for abortion rights is far harder when you obfuscate the sex of the people actually affected by abortion rights. Is that not obvious?

They have a funny way of showing it. Clapping on Trump and Farage because 'at least they know what a woman is'. It was the same in Ireland voting for and clapping on Aontú because 'they know what a woman is'.

And no. Anyone who is pregnant should be able to get an abortion, there are these things called pregnancy tests that people can take that tells you if someone is pregnant whether they are a woman or they identify as a man. It really isn't an issue that should affect abortion rights no matter what way you try and swing it.

They terrify me.

"Farage stressed: "I'm not a Tate supporter. I'm identifying the truth, that young men feel that they're not allowed to be blokes."

What does being blokes mean? I can guess.

He also says men make sacrifices to get top jobs and women do not. I wish he could walk a mile in a mother's shoes.

Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage is interviewed ahead of the Reform UK Hull Conference in Hull, Britain, 27 February 2025.

Nigel Farage says men make sacrifices many women don't for jobs

The Reform leader makes the comments on the role of women in the workplace at an event in Westminster.

@totk it’s such a fractional part of society. I agree, I believe that protection and consideration of women’s spaces is important, but I’m talking about a complete rolling back of women’s rights here.

He's rarely in the HoC (look at his voting history) and never in his constituency, so make of that what you will.

This. He was the same as a MEP. Why think it would change if Reform are elected

He clearly doesn't give fuck about ordinary people. He would continue to do as little as possible while pocketing as much cash as possible.

I call a spade a spade. I'm not going to stop calling Reform far right simply to make you feel better about your voting intentions. If you want to vote for a far right party, why not just own it? Presumably you don't think there is any shame in it?

So, I’ve asked this earlier on this thread and received no answer.

Which of the Reform policies from their policy documents can you show are ‘far right’?

If they are so ‘far right’, why did Lib Dem’s apologise for calling them far right and admit they were wrong. Surely all they had to do to avoid embarrassment was point to the far right policies?

beckaellen · 06/02/2026 14:43

Reform only want to make sure only women are in the women category so they can effectively remove our rights.

Nonsense. It's much easier to remove women's rights by removing women as a separate category to men.

I have criticised Starmer quite a lot myself on other threads, so it simply isn't true to say that I don't like to see him criticised. People can criticise him all they like, but I will say if I think particular comments are unfair, or if I think they are based on lies or misrepresentations of the truth. As indeed, I said that I didn't think people should spread fake news about Farage, much as I despise the man.

And of course, I can't stop you from posting whatever you want wherever you like. I can however politely request that you don't try to derail a thread about misogyny in Reform by talking about Starmer and Mandelson, which have been adequately covered on other threads. You can obviously choose to ignore that request and carry on trying to derail the discussion as you choose.

Don’t reply or quote my posts then and you’ll find you can stick to posting about Farage and Reform as much as you like.

Knock yourself out, post what you want and I will too.

I'm more worried about Labour taking away female only toilets. At their conference last year they had mixed toilets. No single female toilets.

EasternStandard · 06/02/2026 17:07

moderate · 06/02/2026 16:54

True. I would be happy with her as PM.

Yep maybe with Labour going down at the same time as focusing their ire on Reform she will be.

snowbear22 · 06/02/2026 17:06

I don't think that you can call Reform 'far right'.

Attacks on human rights: Farage has called for the UK to withdraw from the ECHR rejecting key principles of liberal democracy.

-Withdrawing from the ECHR is also a policy from the Conservative Party as it has become an outdated loophole for mass migration.

Undermining democracy: Farage has repeatedly questioned election results in Peterborough (2019), Rochdale (2024) and Oldham (2015), where he said that the electoral process was “dead” due to “ethnic changes in the way people are voting”.

It is Starmer that has suspended local elections, set up digital ID in some dodgy deal with billionaire Larry Ellison.
Labour want to scrap jury trials
Shabina Mahmood wants to roll out facial recognition software across the country
LAbour have overseen the arrest of 1,200 people a year for 'hate crimes' on social media -more than Russia or China

Populism and elite conspiracy: Farage frames himself as a defender of “the people” against a sinister “elite,” fueling distrust in politicians and institutions.

See Epstein files.

Don't be so ridiculous. I'm in Ireland where we have the GRA and it still fucking mattered that when I was dying of sepsis I could have an abortion. I'm sick of these men can't be women people being happy to throw abortion away just to stick it to trans people. I used to be vocal about men can't be women until I realised who it was I was aligning myself with and just how little they care about women.

What are you on about. All women against gender ideology I know also support abortion rights. Why are you claiming it’s an ‘either/or’?

Perhaps you could start a separate thread to talk about Starmer if you feel that this hasn't been covered enough elsewhere?

I'm also worried by the Greens and their 'progressive' misogyny among other things.

Its so depressing, isn't it? No matter which way you turn, it's there.

Misogyny has many different coats. Sad

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 06/02/2026 17:03

EasternStandard · 06/02/2026 16:49

Of course the issue for Starmer is the Mandelson appointment which implicates him in the whole affair. If he hadn’t then it would just be ex Labour politician under scrutiny by police. The appointment brings it to the heart of Labour today.

Starmer doesn’t have to meet Epstein personally for it to end his leadership. Since I didn’t post that anyway it’s irrelevant. Epstein via Mandelson is a big issue for Labour not Reform.

We all know that Starmer made a shit decision to appoint Epstein, and we understand that you are enjoying the opportunity to crow about this at every possible opportunity, but this thread is about misogyny in Reform. @JustSomeWaferThinHam it is offensive to the people of Southport that you would lump those people in with them, as if it’s something that everyone from Southport went out and did afterwards.

The people of Southport picked up the pieces after those thugs came in cars and on trains to trash their town and weaponise that tragic, awful event. The families of those girls are some of the most dignified people I have ever seen. Don’t disrespect them.

So you have information on soci-economic status, home address, previous convictions and attitude towards ethnic minorities and women of all of the attendees of the protests and all those arrested?

Where can I find that information please?

Also interesting that you imply that no women in Stockport are subjected to domestic violence? I’m not sure that’s quite true is it?

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 06/02/2026 17:01

JustSomeWaferThinHam · 06/02/2026 16:55

We could say exactly the same about women who support the other mainstream parties despite their refusal to follow the law and refusal to recognise women as a legal entity distinct from men. So…

Well, of course, you can say whatever you like.

To me, it just seems a bit pointless to vote for a party just because they know what a woman is if they have made their misogyny abundantly clear anyway.

What's the benefit, exactly? We can all be reassured that Reform's misogyny won't accidentally target men who are pretending to be women because Reform already knows that they are really men and will therefore protect them?

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/02/2026 17:00

Reform are old fashioned, unreconstructed misogynists. I've no idea why any woman would vote for them.
