Moving problem schoolchildren to another school?

Why are problem teens like the killer of Harvey Willgoose and Brianna Ghey just moved to another school.

What happened to bring expelled. All your doing is moving the problem around.

Both these pupils had problems and incidents at their previous schools!

Surely if you get expelled that's on the pupils and the parents.

Parents problem. Teach them at home or whatever. If you can't control your child and they are out of hand because of you why should others suffer?

Everything starts at home. There's a real lack of parental accountability here.
Teenagers got expelled for a reason that's it.

Theirs and their parents problem.
Absolutely no discipline at home no doubt and no respect for anyone even their parents.

In alot of countries people value an education and wouldn't do anything to warrant being expelled.
It's a disgrace really.
School wasn't easy but I can't imagine being expelled. Shameful.

Well the boy convicted for killing Harvey Wilgoose was on a managed move from another school but they didn’t check his records properly so apparently were unaware of previous violence.

Sometimes managed moves are sucessful at giving a young person a fresh start with a different set of peers and staff. They are simpler to arrange than the permanent exclusion criteria.

Permanent exclusion does mean that the young person needs to continue their education elsewhere. Sometimes another mainstream school is suitable and there's also a lack of specialist provision including PRUs which are a shorter term rehab type of setting.

And what do you think will happen when they're left at home and probably not receiving any education at all? They'll magically become stellar participants in society?

Not everything starts at home and sometimes the reason children get expelled is because they are in an unsuitable school.

Purely because you are being so judgemental and critical, I can’t help but point out that it’s a lot not alot. Shame you didn’t value your education.

Usually if you are expelled (the phrase these days is permanently excluded) it’s either try another mainstream school, go to special school if you were permanently excluded due to needs relating to your disability or go to a PRU (pupil referral unit) which is for students whose behaviour is currently too extreme for mainstream.

i believe youth detention centres are expected to have educational aspects

I don’t know about these specific cases, but did expelled ever mean “never allowed into any school”? I always thought it was a case of going to a different school

Wasn't it a people referral unit?

Because they are still entitled to an education

Because their parents may not be equipped to educate them at home

Because problems at home may be the root of their own issues and by forcing them into that environment full time it will likely get worse

Becauae without an education they will not be employable and will be permanent drain on the tax payer and society.

I'm aware that all these positives might not come to fruition anyway, but they still should have a chance to turn it around rather than be thrown on the scrapheap.

I'm not excusing how vile their actions were or disagreeing with you about parental responsibility btw. But writing kids off before they're out of their teens isn't the way to go.

The two in question are now in custody and are still a drain on the taxpayer.

The one who stabbed Harvey Willgoose is on remand or in prison.

And the killers of Brian Gey will not be in school. They don’t just allow killers back into society.
