Six Palestine Action activists cleared of aggravated burglary over break-in at UK subsidiary of Israeli defence firm.
So you can now break into a factory using a van, and attack people with sledgehammers?
I just can't believe it.

A screenshot of the police van seen on the Elbit Systems UK site. The van is a large white vehicle with small windows and a chevron pattern across the back. A figure wearing black with a white helmet can be seen in the lower right corner of the image h...

Those people crowing outside - do they approve of that Corner man sledgehammering the wpc?

Probably

So many seem to really hate women.

This case is very important and should not be swept under the carpet.

A man raised a sledgehammer and brought it down on a wpc. For a jury to find someone not guilty of a crime here is actually terrifying.

Because it means that one day you might be attacked by someone - or a loved-one killed - but because the jury sympathise with their cause of personal characteristics they are going to get off. OJ anyone? Does anyone believe that the victims were served proper justice there?

Was it the same court that found the man who did the slitting throat thing not guilty?

The problem is that the jury was not asked to find them guilty of ‘a crime’ but of the specific crime of aggravated burglary - as someone else said there will need to have been intent to commit that specific offence. The partial verdicts on other charges suggest a retrail
may be likely, in which case the other charges cover the damage/crime that needs addressing more cleanly.

Unbelievable. He did it but it wasn't his fault.

Clearly she made him do it poor lamb, can see the police who sprayed him getting a harsher sentence.

VoiceFromThePit · 04/02/2026 19:39

YABU purely because this is nothing new, there is no such thing as an impartial jury, every juror brings their own baggage to court; they are humans. This swings both ways.

But getting rid of juries is not the answer as some judges can be just as bad, some have reputations as “hanging judges” as they always give harsh sentences for example.

This is why the CPS needs to up it’s game and not be complacent by leaving questions and things open to interpretation. If in any doubt a lesser charge or no charge at all should be brought that can effectively be more probably “proven”. That is likely what will happen in this case.

And contrary to what a PP said the prosecution don’t need to have evidence of an “agreement beforehand” to prove intent.

Let’s face it - this is HUGE jury bias, unbelievably obvious. anyone who blames the prosecution needs their head examining.

When you can see them breaking into.
They show a person hitting a policewoman who is on the floor.

Please tell me this isn't the end of any charges. I'm appalled.

TheGrimSmile · 04/02/2026 19:36

Unless you were at the trial and heard all the evidence, you have no idea why they were acquitted.

FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods · 04/02/2026 19:34

MaturingCheeseball · 04/02/2026 19:32

Prove intent?! Their plan was organised, not spur of the moment. Strewth.

Wait, the sledgehammer terrorist supporter who broke a woman’s back - that was this trial??

It didn’t mention that in the article I read earlier. Interesting

DifferentNameForQuestion · 04/02/2026 19:33

MunicipalDarwinism · 04/02/2026 16:19

They aren't off the hook yet. There could be second trial as outlined in the article.

Hope so. Otherwise WTH break someone's spine with a sledgehammer and nothing. Those people outside cheering them on. Wow.

Sausagenbacon · 04/02/2026 16:25

This attack on film. You can see the guy wielding the sledgehammer. What more do you want?
I'm coming round to the idea of removing juries, tbf

Do you understand what is required for an aggravated burglary conviction?
This isn't the end of this case.

You have to prove intent with real evidence.

As in they communicated before the event that they intended to harm the people there.

There was none of that there from what I saw so the case for aggravated burglary fell apart. They will get convicted on a lesser charge but it won't be a felony.

We don’t have felonies in the uk

I was watching this tonight, unbelievable! Police officer hit with a sledgehammer and off work with a fractured spine!

Unbelievable. He did it but it wasn't his fault.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 16:13

I heard this earlier and thought wtf. How?

I agree.

A man was shown hitting a policewoman with a sledgehammer. Apparently, he has autism and the police sprayed him with something, so he couldn't help it then. 🙄

Who were on the jury? Grief, they deliberated for hours and hours.

Palestinian protesters cause MAYHEM in London, week in, week out. They also cause fear to Jewish people but Palestinian seems to be above all else. No other country and suffering matter. Iran? Sudan? Nope only Palestinians. There seems to be a cult of followers. Many people steer clear of the protesters now.

FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods · 04/02/2026 19:28

YANBU

Its very hard to believe there isn’t a two tier justice system when you see what these people did.

I think it’s time to really examine how/if juries work. It’s harder than ever to remain neutral and in a world where people are used to being so extreme, opinionated and aggressive without ever being held to account. That mindset doesn’t work in a courtroom.

A very sad day for justice when terrorist supporters (and let’s face it, antisemites) get away with crimes

He fractured her spine!
This is terrifying if justice is going this way.

I understand why Labour want to get rid of juries now.

MouseyGrey · 04/02/2026 16:29

This has a lot to do with the ' defend our juries' group, whose mo is to spread the message that people can be found not guilty on moral/ethical, not legal, grounds. They plastered the area surrounding the court with this messaging. If I were to be cynical, I believe Labour's plans to reduce jury trials has been heavily influenced by these activists and their concern for the consequences on the legal system. Quite frightening really.

Pretty obvious OP has never been a juror before.

The holes in the Prosecutions charges were obvious.
