To be concerned about Jamie Oliver's kitchen

I love Jamie. Wont hear a word against him

But I grow more and more 'concerned' (I like this word more and more these days, everyone has 'concerns' about something and this is mine) about his kitchen and his handling

Poor Jamie does not seem to have many bowls and spoons

He mashes up things on a wooden board with his hands

He scrunches things with his hands, no spoon available

He chops and bashes things with the wrong implements, like the bottom of a glass or something

Tonight he mashed potato on a chopping board and now scrunching up mince potato and carrot with his hands.

Then with his mincey hands he moves the bowl, touches this, touches that. No tea towels either.

Here he goes again right now, layering all his chopped veg on the worktop. Directly on it

No plates available again I see Jamie.

He's back again tonight, going to see if he has popped to Home Bargains to equip himself since last week.

And that's why I think the sugar tax isn't necessarily a good thing. Manufacturers get round it by just adding a load of weird sweeteners instead, then people still don't retrain their sweet tooth and suffer the side effects of aspartame or sorbitol etc.

Exactly. Being forced to drink vile chemical alternatives to processed natural ingredients isn't a choice to be made by anyone else, least of all an arrogant TV cook who is overweight (and making others overweight) by using and publishing recipes heavy in butter, cream and loads of other shit.

I cannot drink artificial sweeteners. My mouth reacts. I hate him for that. Mincey-handed cunt

fever tree or bottle green are ok

I’ve definitely seen Fever Tree for sale in my local supermarkets. Thanks - I’ll have a closer look and try to get over my inherent frugality … Grin

Chemical sweeteners are criminal.

Yes, I can’t drink any soft drinks any more. I really miss a proper glass of cold pop on a hot day.

that was the final straw for me. All the fake sweeteners give me headaches and or stomach aches and or the runs. Worst 24 hour's of my stomachs life was when i chugged an ice cold bottle of lucozade and didn't realise it was the new recipe.

Most people don’t even realise.

I went off Jamie when he managed to get sweeteners put in everything. Who’s his paymasters?

Agree, hands all over the food is a bit ick to me. Makes me feel like I wouldn’t want to eat it. Which I think psychologically is not an ideal outcome for a cooking show.

I’d pay yo be the one who does it.

in our town, when his restaurant closed down, McDonalds moved into that building. DP is convinced that McD’s just did it for the bantz.

I'd be delighted to get a Mac's near me.

The first time I made bread I mixed the dough on a board like Jamie says, instead of in a bowl like normal people. Me and my kitchen ended up looking like that Indian festival where they throw paint at each other.

This happened to me following his instructions to make pizza dough, I made the well in the middle poured in the liquid which gushed all over my lovely new kitchen all down the cabinets. I will never not use a bowl again!!!

OvernightBloats · 08/02/2026 11:26

Jamie bishes, bashes, boshes everything because he knows someone else will clean the mess when he is doing these programmes.

Bet he uses bowls and spoons like a normal person when he is not presenting.

rainbowunicorn22 · 08/02/2026 10:17

mashing potatoes on a board must make an awful mess, especially when added to the nuts that have gone everywhere
All we can think is thank goodness he is not still doing school meals bring back turkey twizzlers

Fizbosshoes · 08/02/2026 08:36

I won a wooden spoon last week for coming last in a pub quiz, maybe that might be an option for him?

EvieBB · 08/02/2026 08:12

BeanQuisine · 03/02/2026 02:20

Heh.😂

I only watch him when he's on the telly in my GP's waiting room. Like a lot of male foodies his main "skill" seems to be cramming loads of superfluous ingredients into things, like his "coleslaw" which includes every species of veg he can lay his mincey hands on. And then he mixes it all by hand instead of using tossing tools, perhaps to demonstrate what a prize tosser he is.

😂

Grating lime and nutmeg all over the work top.

#gofundme - Jamie needs plates

😂
