To have lost faith in men

As a result of all the Epstein stuff. Having been a victim of a sexual assault as a young child then in my teens and twenties I had a sense of what men were like but my DH is a good man.

Literally everyone is involved in this Epstein stuff- anyone with power. So this makes them exploit young women? It’s sickening - it’s heartbreaking for the young girls who are victims of these men.

The men in the Epstein case were seedy perverts, of course they went after young girls, the power they had over them must have boosted their libido, that's what men who can't handle real women get off on.

To compare all, most, the majority of men with scum like them is doing neither sex any favours.

I'm with you. Me too. For the longest time now I have felt that the majority of men only have an interest in women up to a certain age. I can't be convinced that they don't secretly want a hot younger woman (not a child obviously) but when someone goes to the bother of posting online that the scandal should not be used to illustrate how all men think of women, you know it's out there. Unless you're thin, hot and of a certain age, you're doomed it seems.

When I returned to work in my 40's, I had more offers from men, from all ages, than I ever had in my teens and 20's.
Maybe maturity, confidence, and God knows what else, attracted men, but it proves to me that many men appreciate older women rather than younger, thinner, (not always fitter) females.

When will this stop??? We need to stop risking children's safety to pander to men.

In the meantime, parents should take matters into their own hands as far as possible & boycott nurseries with male workers.

Yes I agree.

I had a male friend who I thought I knew well and we were friends for 40 years. Eventually, he showed himself to be a condescending misogynist. I saw the way he behaved when he split up with his wife, how horrible he was to her, and how he immediately went chasing after women. It was painful to see. You never know who someone is till they show you their true selves.

You never know the man you're married to until you tell him you want a divorce.

Whereas, I won't give you a second thought when I log off in a couple of minutes.
You carry on being mistrustful and fearful of most, the majority, or all men....I will carry on as always, treating men as human beings, who's aim in life is not to rape, plunder and pillage every woman they come in contact with.

Bye. x

Aware of the harm that men are capable of (which they don’t give advanced notice of, despite being all
nice to begin with), more so than women, backed up by crime statistics. Fixed it for you.

Good, I don’t think my toes could’ve taken much more 👋.

I don’t know if I pity or envy you for being so naive. I can’t decide.

TBH after 68 years on this planet I have come to believe that MOST men will abuse women if they think they will get away with it. Including rape.

WaryCrow · 06/02/2026 19:39

You clearly have never seen any of the many news reports where murderers and rapists are indeed described as ‘lovely family man, what caused him to snap poor thing’.

There was a bit of a movement to stop it, but like all such in favour of women’s reality it seems to have bitten the dust lately.

If you have a decent husband, sons, grandsons, and you are involved in their lives and do'nt go through life wearing rose coloured specs, I think in general women DO know the men they are involved with.
The 'lovliest' man wont rape and abuse...if he had that in him he would hardly be described as lovely.

Do you?! Despite the many NAMALTs you continue to say ALL men, when it’s been stated it’s men as a sex class.

Quote the posts where it’s stated that it’s each and every man to walk the planet. To be honest it could be, you have no idea of what even the loveliest man is capable of.

Why are you SHOUTING??😀

If you read through the thread, several women have said they are fearful or suspicious of ALL men...maybe you have selective reading.

I agree something makes people in power be more likely to become predators or pursue things most other people don’t. It could be a control thing, boredom, psychopathy, god knows. But I don’t see this as a men problem exclusively. What about all the females engaging with Epstein and enabling him and those around him? Sarah Ferguson, Mette Marit, Maxwell, Sophie? What about all the things said about Hilary Clinton attacking women abused by her husband? They are not victims. They are as twisted as the men they protect and adore.

While the women who obtained young girls for Epstein are vile, they wouldn't be doing it if the men weren't demanding it. And the men would continue regardless of any involvement of women.

I do wonder why Ghislaine Maxwell did it.

Not when it comes to rape though, which is what you piped up about. Only men can do that. Women CAN murder, but it’s rare compared to men. Stats matter.

Women have been drummed into them since time began that men are the more dangerous sex class as a safeguarding measure - because they are. We don’t know which ones want to cause harm from the ones who don’t. It doesn’t mean, despite you protesting otherwise over and over, that women are fearful of ALL men. It means that when we get off a bus late at night, we’re more mindful of what the lone guy who gets off at the same stop too is doing with no one else around, more so than if it had been a woman. I’d take my chances with a woman over a man any day of the week.

NO ONE HAS SAID ALL MEN.

I don't think anyone has been as condescending as that.
Add a few more 🙄if you think it'll add any more depth to your post.

Continuing from where you left off with your posts yesterday evening, each had a ‘🙄’.

If there were suddenly loads of threads where posters highlighted many abuse cases perpetrated by women, the last thing I would think to do would be to wade on and state ‘well the majority won’t harm you so calm yourselves down’ 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄.

I have never minimised the effect on women who have been assaulted.
What I have said, and will continue to believe, is that the vast majority of men do not abuse, and for women to be fearful and distrustful of all men because of the ones who do abuse women, is detrimental to not only to the men, but to the women themselves.

Saying all men CAN rape is as factual as saying all women CAN murder.
Yes, of course they can....but they don't.

That’s the whole point! The wives, daughters etc etc of those men in France I’m sure didn’t in a million years think they would be capable of that. But they were and they did. It’s not an isolated case, a man has just been convicted here of the same. Every rapist is a son. Loads have wives and children.

In my line of work, do you know how many wives, girlfriends, mothers I’ve heard protesting, ‘they would never do that!’.

It’s true more humans don’t commit crime than humans who do, but stop minimising that of the sexual and violent crime that DOES occur, 98%
are committed by men, and it’s offensive to women who have been assaulted to continually have you bleat on ‘ah but it’ll probably never happen to you, what’s the fuss’, despite how many lovely men you know.

I agree with PP you can't tell the decent ones to the downright evil men.
There's also mental abuse which I was on the recieving ends when I was in my early twenties. I was inexperienced and I was manipulated.

Amandaholdenstits · 06/02/2026 15:49

Hmm ... on today's Independent online, 3 of 6 headline items are about men murdering and abusing women and children.

I tried to add a screen shot but this site won't let me.

I long for the day (and it may have happened already and I missed it) when a thread like this starts on MN and a man comes along and says: 'When I read this, I find it hurts my feelings and I have a desire to defend myself, but I understand that in world where women are routinely threatened, assaulted, raped and sold as possessions my feelings of hurt are really not the issue. I don't hurt anyone but I'd really like to see an end to women being hurt. I really care about this.'

That will never happen because men don’t talk like that, written or verbally.

So as we all know, every man, unless he has a medical condition, CAN rape, and of course reasonable people also know that the majority of men DONT rape.
The Gisele case was horrendous. It horrified the world, because of the way her husband and other men acted.

Do you think that's the norm? Would your father, husband, son, queue up to have unlawful sex with someone elses comatose wife?
