No it’s miles away! 5 wks well it’s nearly but still not that close.

MaidOfSteel · 01/02/2026 13:46

Not really. But I guess it means that you’re nearer to your next birthday than to your last, if that makes sense!

gototogo · 01/02/2026 13:45

No unless it’s 100

Coconutter24 · 01/02/2026 13:45

No, 5 months is not nearly someone’s birthday.

SPQRomanus · 01/02/2026 13:43

No. Mine is in 2 weeks time, I would now say it's nearly my birthday.

mondaytosunday · 01/02/2026 13:41

No - I’d say two months away max, though it’s my birthday in a couple months and I don’t consider it near.

No.

My birthday is at the end of this month, imo that’s ages away yet.

Snap!

Miranda65 · 01/02/2026 13:39

Obviously not! A couple of days would justify that description.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/02/2026 13:36

No.

Alltheyellowbirds · 01/02/2026 13:35

In what context?

if in a “it’s my birthday I’m not doing the washing up” way then no.

If in a “it’s nearly my fiftieth I ought to probably start thinking about what I’d like to plan” then yes.

BillieWiper · 01/02/2026 13:33

No. It's as far away from my birthday as it could possibly be without being closer to my previous birthday?!

PinkiOcelot · 01/02/2026 13:32

No.

WhatICallMyUsername · 01/02/2026 13:29

Would you say in July it’s nearly Christmas?

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 01/02/2026 13:26

Of course not

Tillow4ever · 01/02/2026 13:25

No.

Fine to start planning a party that far out, but I wouldn’t say it was nearly my birthday until I get to the month (my birthday is right at the end of the month though).

ThroughTheRedDoor · 01/02/2026 13:24

My 13 year old absolutely does.

AuntyBulgaria · 01/02/2026 13:24

No. Nearly my birthday would be next week. Next month at the very most.

Figgygal · 01/02/2026 13:22

Not in any interpretation of the word no
That's like saying it's nearly the summer holidays today as they're 5 months away.

RudolphTheReindeer · 01/02/2026 13:21

Not generally but if it's a big one and lots of plans need to made then probably.

aCatCalledFawkes · 01/02/2026 13:18

Not although I did organise a weekend away for my daughters 18th well in advanced but we didn't really discuss it.

OhDear111 · 01/02/2026 13:17

No. 1 month away, yes.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 01/02/2026 13:16

No.

Talipesmum · 01/02/2026 13:16

No! Though, if it’s in the context of wanting to plan a large complicated celebration with many people, with travel / invitations / complex venue / food arrangements, I might think it’s getting close. Basically if you’re planning something for your birthday that needs 5 months notice, fair enough. Or if you’re approaching your 80th birthday and are hoping you make it that far, perhaps yes. Otherwise no, it’s practically halfway between your last birthday and the next one.

Thewonderfuleveryday · 01/02/2026 13:15

Don't be daft. Of course not.

99pwithaflake · 01/02/2026 13:15

No.
