No. Nearly your birthday would be about 2 weeks away

BlackCat14 · 01/02/2026 14:51

I started planning my 30th about 4/5 months before, but I wouldn’t have said it was “neatly my birthday” at that stage.
Why?

Tryagain26 · 01/02/2026 14:51

Well it's less than half a year so you are nearer to your next birthday than your previous one. But I wouldn't say it's almost your birthday

FussyFancyDragon · 01/02/2026 14:51

No. That would mean you’re either always saying it’s nearly your birthday, or it’s just been your birthday.

OonaStubbs · 01/02/2026 14:48

No, it's nearly as close to your last birthday.

Adults who make a big deal about birthdays are very strange.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 01/02/2026 14:47

My 5 year old counts the day after her birthday as close to her birthday. But no, it’s ridiculous

whatcanthematterbe81 · 01/02/2026 14:46

😂😂

OttersMayHaveShifted · 01/02/2026 14:32

No

Createausername1970 · 01/02/2026 14:31

If it's a special one and you are making plans to book, cater or would otherwise like an idea of numbers etc, then 5 months is not unreasonable.

But if its just a normal birthday year then it's unreasonable to think anyone would be giving any thought to a birthday that far off.

Fodencat · 01/02/2026 14:30

No! That’s mad! There other peoples’ birthdays before having to think about mine

Owlmoonstar · 01/02/2026 14:26

No. Because I'm not a toddler.

This sounds like a question a toddler would ask. How bizarre.

Crunchymum · 01/02/2026 14:26

No, but I do start to go up a year a few months before my Birthday. Gives me time to get used to it 😂

FrostyFlo · 01/02/2026 14:25

No . 2/3 weeks before the day is near your birthday .
I can see the logic of starting to plan from half a year away if you are planning a big party at a venue but that is booking a room in a hotel and discussing menus / music / numbers etc .
Something arranged at home or a small number meal in a restaurant is only a month or two .

ZanyMaker · 01/02/2026 14:21

Snap @lizziedripping98

ZanyMaker · 01/02/2026 14:20

That’s like saying ‘it’s nearly Christmas’ in July 😂

lizziedripping98 · 01/02/2026 14:20

No, it's ages away not almost. That's like saying it's almost christmas in July.

Doseofreality · 01/02/2026 14:19

Not since I was about 4 years old 😂
I’m really not that arsed or excited about birthdays to get that focused on them.

Bess91 · 01/02/2026 14:17

No, but if I was planning on doing something for my birthday that needed notice (eg planning a party), I'd be thinking about organising it early enough.

Zanatdy · 01/02/2026 14:05

Of course not

Laserwho · 01/02/2026 14:05

No. I would class close to my birthday as a few days before.

BunnyLake · 01/02/2026 14:04

I guess if I was approaching my 100th birthday I would.

Mine is next week and I could not give less of a shit about it. Doesn’t feel even vaguely close!

I’m quite happy to forget about mine, it’s just another day.

sanityisamyth · 01/02/2026 13:54

HelpMeGetThrough · 01/02/2026 13:47

No, my birthday is less than 3 months away and it’s not at all close.

sanityisamyth · 01/02/2026 13:53

If you’re a toddler, maybe?! But nearly six months between birthdays is not near either of them.
