Romesh Ranganathan show with Sally Traffic messing around and just talking all the time and not playing music? I don't want to listen to them chattering away as if there's no audience.

I’m completely homeless radio wise on a Sunday morning. Has anyone got any suggestions? Music based.

I usually put Radcliffe and Maconie on Sunday 8-10am, they do talk quite a bit but I've found music I really like on there. I do tend to mute it a bit when Carys Matthews comes on at 10 as I'm not too keen on her show.

I miss Huey Morgan on Saturday mornings, he's moved to Virgin Radio which was a big surprise when I found out. His replacement is ok but I did like him.

Bob Harris is superb on Sundays. A DJ who knows his stuff, not a C list celebrity. As was JW before him.
Dermot has a pretty good music knowledge too and I like his interviews.

I love both of them. It’s that mid morning to lunchtime slot I’m struggling with, you know when you’re pottering around on a Sunday. I miss Graham.

BringBackCatsEyes · 03/02/2026 07:42

Elaine Paige and her ridiculous giggle.
Liza Tarbuck - just an annoying voice, it doesn’t sound like a natural flow of talk.
I can’t put my finger on it, but I turn her over straight away.

I really like Sally Traffic and Romesh’s chat. I find it very funny because he obviously finds her hilarious. I love it that she’s still on Radio 2 because I think back to her time with Johnny Walker.
honestly can’t stand Vernon Kay. I was listening the other day and he sounded like he was in a really bad mood. He was really unpleasant. I can’t remember in all the years listening to radio ever thinking that the presenter is in a bad mood. I don’t listen to Jeremy Vine for obvious reasons. I really like Trevor Nelson. He’s been such a great addition to the daytime. Not massively keen on Sara Cox. Like Vernon she can sometimes be a bit tetchy. Love Jo.

I also like Romesh and Sally!

I’ve never noticed vernon or Sara being techty? Like short or rude to the people that call in? Il look out for it now 👀

Of all the presenters I find annoying, Rylan is the most irritating. I thought it was Elaine Paige, but I'd forgotten about Rylan.

I have to admit, I am ridiculously easily put off by radio presenters' voices, way of speaking and general manner. I think it's that because you can't see them, it's all about the voice! I know I'm being unreasonable but I can't seem to help it!

You are not being remotely unreasonable.
Surely it should be a minimum requirement for RADIO that presenters have clear, pleasant speaking voices, with decent enunciation and knowledge of their area of music?

OttersMayHaveShifted · 01/02/2026 07:15

I find at least 80% of all radio presenters on any stations irritating tbh. Elaine Paige has to be one of the worst. I've never listened to Romesh Ranganathan, but he's certainly been quite annoying when I've seen him on tv. I can stand Absolute Radio for a bit sometimes, but I mostly listen to Radio 3 or 4 these days and otherwise put Spotify on.

Ditto Elaine Paige. That cringey laugh!!! Urghhh

I still miss Paul O’Grady on Sunday. My favourite show ever. I wish the BBC would make repeats available.

Me too. We always had it on while we were having dinner and washing up.

The bits when he and Malcolm weren't able to speak for laughing used to crack me up.

Cant stand Elaine paiges gurgling laugh. It gives me the rage.

Vernon when he goes on about listeners being"on the tools".. like hes ever done a hard days physical graft in his life. God knows how tess puts up with him. Especially after the rhiannon sugden debacle.

Can just about tolerate Sara as I do think she's a nice person and I find Liza very funny.

Loved Paul ogrady though. Sadly missed.

Nasty behaviour from the pair of them. They request audience musical contributions and then openly mock them. Worse than the bloody x factor that is.

They come across as a pair of playground bullies. I feel really uncomfortable listening to this kind of thing.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/02/2026 13:35

RedRec · 01/02/2026 22:45

I feel exactly the same way about her. Find her totally unbearable. The forced zany-ness, that annoying false voice and chuckle. All toe curling.

I genuinely thought I was the only person in the world who thought that about her - she’s very popular on mn - so thanks for the solidarity.

RaraRachael · 02/02/2026 13:30

What I hate, particularly SM and VK is when they take something that isn't remotely funny and flog it to death. Like SM was banging on about people doing owl impersonations and it just went on and on and on.

I can't even remember what Friday's knew was but it even continued on to this morning.

Just play music and cease this inane nonsense.

Just caught a few minutes of Vernon this morning and he played a clip of a man playing the guitar who said he did this when he proposed to his wife. Ellie Brennan said she would be sick in her mouth if that happened to her and her and Vernon started laughing. They are a horrible pair of knobs.

Yes exactly!!

I don't mind Sally and Richie but find the woman who's on with Scott Mills really annoying. I bet she's angling for her own show.

I’m with Ellie… the cringe of someone playing you a song Urgh i would be instantly questioning my life choices that allowed it to happen!

You would laugh at him on national radio? You sound nice…
FWIW there is a difference between not liking that sort of thing, which I wouldn’t either, and encouraging listeners to send messages about their proposals then laughing about it making them feel sick.

Quite a few now just muck around. I’m Boom Radio all the way now.

I'm looking for other stations to listen to. Tried Boom this morning but the guy was rambling on about sport so I turned it off. Will give it another go.

I like classic FM but every bloody time I tune in, it's Alexander Armstrong!

That phrase, 'sick in the mouth' is revolting. I hate it. Not surprised Ellie said that though - she is the type of person who thinks this phrase is funny. Urgh!

Radio 2 is definitely dumbing down when language like this is used. Crass. People could be listening to that whilst eating!

Newyearsameme26 · 02/02/2026 10:44
