Am not usually one to post these kinds of threads but this is so sad. I've loved her since childhood and am currently in the middle of a Schitt's Creek binge to take my mind off the usual winter bugs. She was such a fantastic actress and so, so funny.

Weirdly while doom scrolling on X today a short video popped up saying how Tim Burton was really unsure about using Day-O in Beetlejuice, that he didn’t think it would work & people might not know the song. And there was a clip of the marvellous Catherine O’Hara doing that now iconic dance 💔 For those who’ve not yet seen it, she is interviewed in the recent John Candy documentary. She speaks so wonderfully of the time they all spent together on the Canadian comedy circuit while trying to make it big. Rest in peace Mrs McCallister (As you’ll always be to 9 year old me) 💔

Gosh- quite a statement. 'Most people'. It's like- all over the news and social media.

Double down if it pleases you, but you are just looking like a bit of a numpty tbh.

Imagine thinking my entire cultural literacy hinges on recognising an actress from Home Alone. I’ll survive, promise.

CoolShoeshine · 30/01/2026 20:21

So sad and shocking. She seemed so vibrant in recent times that you took for granted that she would have many more active years in her.

So have some sensitivity and respect for those who do.

You need to find a hobby. Is this really how you want to spend your Friday night? Confused

PotatoLove · 30/01/2026 20:17

She was fantastic. Loved her in Home Alone and Beetlejuice 😕

We get it. You don't know who she is. You've made your point. Now please bore off.

It’s “you’re “ not “your”. Once again, educate oneself.

Wrong. Just because you don’t know doesn’t mean others don’t.

MerryGuide · 30/01/2026 20:16

So sad, she was no age!

My 16 year old came racing down the stairs to tell me.

He's real too IRL.

Very sad to hear this today. A real part of most peoples childhood as Mrs Mcallister in Home Alone and I loved her in Schitts Creek too.
