(Shamelessly here for traffic)

i’m looking for a travel coffee cup with quite specific criteria… please help!

no handle
Dishwasher safe
Actually keeps coffee hot
totally leakproof
Fits a regular sort of size latte from a coffee shop – not too massive
Here’s the tricky one – I want the mouthpiece to be covered so that I can check it in my bag without it getting all dirty and germy where I then put my mouth

any ideas please? I ordered a Contigo but it’s just arrived and I hadn’t realised that the clippy bit isn’t actually where you put your mouth and that part is actually exposed!

Stanley ones are brilliant! As someone who hates the design of the water cups I was surprised at how lovely the coffee cups are x

I have a bru cup and it's so good because it doesn't leak, keeps it all hot and it has a ceramic inner so it doesn't taste of metal like all the other ones I have tried do.

This is the best - the bit you drink out of is totally covered as you unscrew the top and it keeps drinks hot for hours. The best thing as far as I'm concerned is it has no fiddly bits in the lid so it's really easy to clean.

I love the fact that Thermos one says 'leakproof when closed' - you just know someone has made that complaint Grin

My Bodum one has been great for yonks but has recently been less reliable unless fully upright at all times so thanks for the thread op!

contigo damn you autocorrect

freudenschaude · 29/01/2026 21:57

Keep some cheap disinfectant wipes in your bag if you’re that scared of germs and keep the contiguous?

my Yeti isn't leakproof.

Which one do you have? Check the rubber seal. The screw lids are 100% leakproof. I regularly chuck them in my handbag sideways and it never leaks.

Hot botty sounds great!

Contigo

I have tried every travel mug under the sun. Stanley aerolight wins on every count!

YourAvidKhakiPanda · 29/01/2026 21:44

I love my Sho one - says don't put it in the dishwasher but I do. It fulfils the other criteria

winnieanddaisy · 29/01/2026 21:43

I bought my son in law one from a company called Ocean . I had his name put on it and he loves it and uses it every day . I think they use recycled plastic bottles saved from cluttering the oceans, hence the name .

I've had one of these for 5 years. My perfect coffee travel mug 💕 The outer colour has peeled off leaving a shiny silver underneath but it's still cool on the outside to hold.

I usually hand wash it but have recently been putting it in the dishwasher and it's been fine.

I've got this one. It's great- I got mine from TK Maxx for £7.

SunandWine · 29/01/2026 20:50

Moon botties. Stay hot for hours, don’t leak and the sippy bit is on the top so you can stop it getting dirty.

Yeti mugs are superb. They’re not cheap, but they’re worth it.

my Yeti isn't leakproof.

greenmarsupial · 29/01/2026 20:11

I would have seconded the Stanley Aerolight so glad you’ve gone with that. It’s a brilliant one and keeps things either really hot or iced drinks freezing. It’s almost too good sometimes!

PrincessArora · 29/01/2026 20:10

The first poster nailed it. I agree. The silver Nespresso one. Fits all your criteria, fits in the cup holder on all cars (I have bought a few that are too wide). Keeps your drink hot, actually hot! And goes in the dishwasher. What’s not to love?

Flamingmentalcats · 29/01/2026 20:09

Second the ninja and if you like fizzy drinks they apparently keeps the fizz

Stanley aerolight. Best one I’ve ever bought. I make my coffee at 0600 forgot it in the car when I went to work last week so it was cold all day and I drank it on
my way home at 1600, still really hot.

Yes, this one is great if you want one with a covered opening. Lightweight, leak proof and keeps drinks hot
