To think we shouldn’t have to contribute to soch if we don’t intend to use it?

For example, I don’t want a state pension - so I should surely be able to opt out of soch based contributions percentage. And just pay a lesser amount to cover anything I do take advantage of.

OP, what happens if you get hit by a car? Or have a nasty accident at work and have a head injury and/or are bleeding heavily? It's those kinds of moments where you would have to attend the emergency department of the hospital, which private hospitals do not have.

OP you can't make a huge claim like your gran invented the word soch and then withdraw the claim the moment you get a bit of pressure from a political party! Fight the power!!

How do you know what you won't benefit from? What if you are involved in a serious accident. Only the NHS runs emergency health care - private hospitals generally don't and if something goes wrong with your private operation guess where you end up? The NHS which has the ICUs, the ITUs etc, which we all pay for.

Sadly she herself likely didn't pay enough in to pay for the benefits she's received/receiving so you and the other worker bees are left holding the bill.
