White bridal dress or not?

I'm getting married for the second time. How many of you older brides/ married not for the first time felt comfortable wearing white? Or anyone really, what are your opinions on this?

If you want white, have white. It’s your wedding, and the people there will be the people who love and like you the most: anyone there who’d give you side-eye for wearing white either shouldn’t be there, or would find a reason to give you side-eye for whatever you choose.

My only anti-white comment is that there’s much more choice available if you don’t, and you aren’t restricted to bridal shops and what’s “in for brides” this season, and all the bridal shop faff and upselling.

I wore a coloured dress to my first wedding and my bridesmaids wore black, one had a black catsuit, one a short dress and one a black trousers suit. My 2nd wedding i wore a silver evening dress.
You do you

I’m nearly 60 and have never been married. If it ever happens, I’m having the white dress! Wear what you want OP, whatever you feel comfortable in. Whatever age, weight, height or shape I wouldn’t think anything about any bride wearing white on her wedding day.

I wore cream. White is quite stark and unforgiving. It was 20+ years ago now, but if im honest I wish I had chosen a less formal dress. If I was getting married today I'd wear something like a satin dress from Ghost.

Do you want to wear a white dress and are you comfortable in it?

Yours is really the only opinion that matters. Congrats!

Depends on the wedding. Huge thing in church with 200 guests, go for the full white princess. Small registry office, wear something much smaller and more fun.

The whole myth that white symbolises purity annoys me. Wear what you want. White was actually popularised by Queen Victoria, it was seen as a symbol of doing well that you would have a gown in an impractical colour like white. Most brides wore their best dress and it had to be used time and again so white was only for rich people who could afford to use a dress once.

I went for a cream dress and coat (Winter wedding). . White just didn’t really feel right to me. 😊
