i am a leftie

I think they’ll win

If don’t, they’ll have the majority in a hung parliament and govern as a minority party before joining with the Tories.

i’m going to tighten my belt re running my home and prepare for onslaught as the country becomes unrecognisable

Only hell is worse than Reform because it’s for eternity.

Sunshinebound99 · 27/01/2026 23:03

All I can hope for is the tories strengthen up and get a strong leader and more of the questionable ones defect to reform. Im sorry but I don’t love this current Labour Party. They terrify me and the greens even more.

Listen to David Bull, the Chairman of the Reform Party. ... they make total sense.... only if you put the UK working people first

No really,

Now you know the fear a lot of us have been feeling since the socialists took over. Do you really think that Reform will be worse than what we’ve got at the moment?

Yes. And I didn't vote labour

thetemptationofchocolate · 27/01/2026 22:47

In another place, a certain document on the Reform UK's website was highlighted. I went to have a look at it, because I couldn't quite believe what was being said about it.
It's called 'Operation Restoring Justice' and is one of Reform's proposals, concerning immigration. In the document, Reform state that they will disapply the UN convention against torture.
It's there, on their site, written by them. I find it hard to fathom how people could support that.

I’d be shocked if it happened or even came close to happening for that matter.

We said that about Brexit...

Not sure how things could be worse than they are right now. Utterly depressing.

The economy is doing ok & no where near "ruined"

Look at FTSE 250/all share indexes, UK companies, SME's doing better than ever.

Inflation is generally tracking downwards, interest rates 1.25 lower than in 2024.

Unemployment up but still, at 5%, way lower than the 8% we had under Cameron.... & we have AI, affecting jobs.

Sunak had 6 months of recession in Q3 and Q4 2023.... i expect you blamed that on "World Events"

So if the economy is doing ok, how come that so many businesses/pubs are closing down every week ?

Google Neil kinnock 1992. We cannot predict the election this far out - they couldn't predict it 24 hours out.

Yes it's scary. Not in a Tory austerity worries me way but in a they have suggested abolishing free at the point of need health care, reviewing abortion rights and introducing a UK ICE kind of way. We can see the leader literally lying and people believing him against all the odds and that kind of cult worship is frightening.

But there are 3 years to go. We can do something. Active hope and taking action us healthier

I don’t suppose Keir Starmer ever lies does he? Oh yes he lied to the President of the United States about the Chagos deal. Just the latest in a long line of lies, distractions and obfuscations. Find me an honest politician and I’ll vote for him. In the meantime we have to make the best of a bad job and vote for someone who might, possibly, if we are lucky, effect some of the changes this country needs if we are once again to be prosperous.

They are not our last hope. They've ALREADY made our lives worse through Brexit! Our growth has been anaemic (why are we not in the Customs Union and the Single Market?!), too much red tape for trade with Europe (unnecessary bullshit we needed like a hole in the head), young and dynamic immigration (thanks to Freedom of Movement) replaced by long term immigration of families with dependents in tow (nothing to do with origins here, I mean that the nature of immigration has changed thanks to Home Office bureaucracy and the new hoops to jump through)... and the small boats? Also the gift of Brexit disruption. I don't want to list the whole sorry mess but really, NF has already proven that the populist Reform/UKIP whatever you call them do not serve ordinary working people or the nation's interests. Why would anyone fall for their lies AGAIN?

Blame the conservatives for not carrying out Brexit as those that voted for it wanted.

I’m not a leftie but I certainly don’t want Reform!! Manifesto pledges should be binding. Outright lies on the campaign trail (£350m extra for the nhs🙄 for example) should be treated as fraud /misrepresentation and a criminal offence. Maybe then we’d get something we actually vote for!!

It wasn’t Reform’s bus.

sleepwouldbenice · 27/01/2026 21:08

Wow this thread is shocking
I am politically homeless / neutral, whatever you want to call it
I can see many many faults with the main traditional parties including those such as SNP or Lib Dems
i really have no strong preference

but the utter tripe quoted on here by reform voters is off the scale. I can’t imagine the level of propaganda across tv , social media etc they must absorb to have such a distorted view. Not on one issue, but across almost everything. I can’t believe how twisted things get. Even more so when you hear what Trump is up to, yet you still follow that path

i do understand more the voters who feel let down by the main parties. We’ve been in decline for such a long time, it’s crap. But I also know that they’ll be most impacted on average by what reform will do to them. I suspect I will be ok, I know I am lucky in many respects. But it really actually could and will get much worse under reform .As shown by truss, shown by trump, etc etc

I am torn , sometimes thinking we do need a stint of reform, just to show how shit it will be. But I don’t think we’ll recover from it as a country if they get in. And that’s really worrying

What is it you think he stands for?

I see him as a decent man doing his best to sort things out. I can't understand the level of hatred, other than the screaming in the billionaire-owned media.

The majority don’t approve, only 11% like him those who don’t will be a whole range of people.

Smishall · 26/01/2026 15:42

I'm worried that Labour will stay in with another pathetic majority. (Starmer got less votes than Corbyn). I despise Starmer and everything he stands for with a passion.

anon666 · 27/01/2026 20:33

I'm not sure I'm a leftie, but I'm also in despair.

Farage is a fascist, who I believe to be at least a supporter of Putin (if not actually on the payroll) and Suella Braverman and Jenkins were in charge when our immigration system went haywire. Not to mention Brexit was Farage's big idea and what a mess that was. 🤔

I'm not that exercised about immigration personally, but my MBA ceremony was an eye opener when it came to open borders during those years. I don't think that inward immigration at 1 million per year was a good idea or sustainable.

Genuinely worried we are sleepwalking into a totalitarian state like the USA.

Open Britain is a pro European pressure group so it follows their views will be tainted concerning anyone holding a different viewpoint. The reason why Reform is incorporated as a company is to prevent anyone trying to initiate a coup. It is a private company therefore different from other political parties. It faces the financial regulator for any wrong doing in that sense and Electoral Commision for anything on the political side. This means that the name is preserved but also it has offered itself up to much more scrutiny by regulators than other political parties. Don't believe the propoganda that people post on the internet for any party. Do your own research before you vote. Don't let some shamelessly biased posting sway you. That's what Conservatives did for years.

Who is the majority share holder in Reform UK Ltd?

Can Farage be voted out by members?

Supersimkin7 · 27/01/2026 20:29

I’ll never forgive Labour if Reform get in.

Suspect Sir Keir is a decent human, but it needs to show. He needs to be nice to Sid & Doris Bonkers, the benighted working locals, consistently and loudly.

They’re awful, corrupt, incompetent snakes and will be a huge risk to national security.

Mmm. Seems to me that all political parties suffer from corrupt MPs. Do we remember the press recording problems with the following? Or is my memory deceiving me?
Fiona Oluyinka Onasanya
Keith Vaz
Mike Amesbury
Charlie Elphicke, Imran Ahmad Khan
