To find it disturbing how many people are sneering at and belittling Brooklyn Beckham?

I know, I know. He's rich, privileged, yadda yadda. I do get that and obviously there are many people who are far worse off.

With that said, the number of people, on here and elsewhere, who are staunchly Team Beckham and more especially Team Victoria truly disturb me. It's as if people really do believe that their children belong to them. I think that even if we allow for exaggeration, the Beckhams' behaviour has been pretty gross. I personally don't believe that Brooklyn is lying or even greatly exaggerating, their odd behaviour has been on display for a long time now. People screech about how 'ungrateful' he is but I don't really see that he owes them any huge amount of gratitude. He only released his version after they kept needling him and briefing the press to be negative about him. I'm reminded of the 'Stately Homes' thread on this site, about parents who think that they are great parents because they supplied their kids' material needs.

What has been gross about their behaviour? Genuine question. I haven’t looked into it enough to know all of the details and from a very simple outsider perspective it does look like Brooklyn has shacked up with a new very wealthy woman and made a huge, public statement about going NC with his parents. Why the need for it? Distance yourself quietly if you must but the media storm he has whipped up is entirely his own doing.

I think most people who are team VB are probably looking at it through a mother’s eyes thinking how sad it all is. But none of us can possibly know the family dynamics.

Sure, but that's just our world nowadays. I know what you mean but people will always gossip about celebrities and royalty. What I find interesting is that so many women seem to be putting themselves in the place of a woman who has been 'unjustly' cut off by her son, without pausing to think it it is really so unjust.

Considering Brooklyn and wife had editorial control over the vogue article written straight after the wedding and everything he is now saying doesn’t fit with what was said in the article. And he and wife even put on social media bits of the vogue article that don’t fit with what he is now claiming I think you are backing the wrong horse.

oh and her last boyfriend also went no contact with his family whilst dating Nicola.

notacooldad · 24/01/2026 23:08

I find it odd how many people are really invested in this.
Ive had a mild curiosity as its big news but I'm suprised how the story has got legs and hasnt stopped running since it broke especially when the rest of the world feels like its imploding.

Maybe it's just escapism from the global shit show.

so is this DJ on This morning really has seen it all???

He sounded drugged up to me. I wouldn't trust him to remember much of an accurate picture.

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 24/01/2026 23:00

I do feel he's not going to feel any better for his outburst and he's gone from the frying pan to the fire with regards to his marriage.

I'd be worried about him if I was a friend.

JMSA · 24/01/2026 22:57

YANBU. Some people are too thick to imagine that there could be two sides to the story. They can only judge it according to how they would feel, in VB’s shoes.

NotMeAtAll · 24/01/2026 22:56

I assume nobody here knows them or anything about their private lives.

Ok? Feel free to scroll past, then. I never understand comments like this one. I don't go into threads about dog ownership saying that I don't like dogs and wouldn't own one. Also, like it or not, celebrity culture is a relevant topic in today's world. It isn't about being a fan, it is about studying patterns.

It's only relevant if you follow celebrities lives. You state it like it's a fact for everyone when I really don't think it is. It's absolutely not relevant to many many people. What patterns are you studying exactly?

But any person can be pissed at.parents and be no contact. They don't have the air it all in the media.

When stories are constantly being printed about you and your partner do you not think he should be able to respond also publicly.

He didn’t bring the original issue into the press. He has just responded really.

He did not choose to be famous he was born into it and all that brings including sometimes having to respond publicly.

GUTTEDINSUSSEX · 24/01/2026 22:18

It maybe that since being with Nicola, he has seen and experienced a different kind of parenting.

Both sets of families are very rich, and maybe the Peltz family never needed to include their children in their brand.

To be fair, aside from knowing that they are mega wealthy, I know nothing about the Peltz

On a tangent here, what I would say is, what a fabulous childhood Suri Cruise appears to have had. Well done Katie

Thisisnotmyid · 24/01/2026 22:18

Completely agree OP. So sick of this ‘evil controlling women’ trend that they all seem to be jumping on, I’m convinced they all are boy mums and just can’t cope with the fact their baby has grown and has his own opinions and makes his own choices!

Regardless of what we do or don’t know if someone says the situation isn’t right and makes them feel uncomfortable we should be listening.

Kingscallops · 24/01/2026 22:16

Anyone else noticing the posters making the most fuss and noise are those who are 'team' BB?

Endofyear · 24/01/2026 22:08

I think if you choose to throw your private life open to the public on social media then you have to accept that people will have opinions about you and they won't always be complimentary. I have no idea who's right or wrong in this family drama, I suspect that there's been behaviour on both sides that's unpleasant. None of us can really know for sure who's being truthful but there's always two sides a story.

UnhappyHobbit · 24/01/2026 22:05

The thing I’ve come to realise is that everyone will come at it from their own projections. People will belittle him because they believe their struggles are worse than his because of his wealth/privilege and therefore not in a position to complain.

Some will see him as hugely disrespectful because they can’t imagine having a toxic family dynamic and assume he’s a trouble maker for no good reason.

Others will be fully onboard with him and take sides knowing what it is like dealing with toxic parents. There is a movement on social media encouraging adult children to put in place boundaries with toxic parents and more recently, another tearing them to shreds.

I encourage anyone who has a fractured relationship with their parents to avoid taking to heart some of the comments you may see on social media.

GrethaGreen · 24/01/2026 22:04

If he really wanted privacy, I think people would leave him alone. There was no need for this statement. Seems to me just to be so much entitled drama. So what if your mum is dancing a bit drunk at your wedding.

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 24/01/2026 21:55

He made it public. Non celebrities do it but has less followers so it doesn’t make press as not enough people are interested.

People shouldn’t post unkind comments on SM.

CherryBlossom321 · 24/01/2026 21:55

Yes, I’ve seen some dehumanising comments about him here, and other places online. Privilege doesn’t mean the absence of any struggles or suffering. I think that kind of commentary, in many cases, comes from people whose own adult children don’t enjoy their company or their behaviour.

Bougainsillier · 24/01/2026 21:50

Its very weird how anyone can reach a conclusion when they don’t know the full story.
Almost as weird as living your life on Instagram.

Thehorticuluralhussie · 24/01/2026 20:13

I actually find it disturbing that anyone cares in the slightest to be honest, but maybe that’s just me.

"Disturbing"? Wow. You need to toughen up haha.

Dollymylove · 24/01/2026 21:47

He probably shiuld have kept a dignified silence rather than post a rambling whingefest on Instragram for the whole world to read and dissect. Several of those who attended the wedding have confirmed that the wedding dress and the first dance sagas were fabricated, Vogues article also seemed to confirm it as well.
Considering that B&N have quoted that they just want private peace, they seem to going a strange way about it!!

'Studying patterns'?! Sorry, but it's just mindless gossip.

Ok.
