Where is it?

Will they even do one?

Has anyone changed their initial viewpoint on the whole thing?

And lastly….Team Brooklyn or Team Beckham?

I feel like mumsnetters from the 'Stately Homes' thread might understand some things others can't.
To me, Brooklyn's statement smacked of someone trying desperately to explain how their parents have failed them, and struggling to find the reasons and the examples without sounding petty.
If he felt growing up as if his feelings didn't matter, if his parents were subtly kinder to the other children, if Brooklyn has been the scapegoat for too long, if he lived on his nerves in case he disappointed or angered them, until his fight or flight was totally fecked, if they shut him down when he stood up to them, if they were physically present but emotionally unavailable, or choosing to be largely physically absent too, if they lied to him to serve their own purposes, if everything at home was always them, them, them, if he only ever felt like an extension of their complicated public personas, if they made him feel small, or less, so they could feel bigger, and more, if any of this, then I just wish him happiness and peace.
Yes they have provided him with enormous wealth, but working with young people has taught me that's not as much of a privilege as comfortable means and fantastic parents. My heart goes out to him. I hope he can be happy. His lived experience is unique to him and I hope he can move forward healthily.

VB is very impressive and has done so well in her life. People always attack successful women and it must be challenging to deal with that. I wonder whether the children have found it difficult to forigive DBs affairs and those will have affected the children terribly. That might be the real issue referenced in ‘inauthentic relationships’. I’m genx and remember them before they had money so it must be tricky for them to see their child having grown up in such privilege be so naive and spoilt. I assume the Peltz family are very powerful and once you are involved in that world the ruthlessness is probably quite scary.

Don’t disagree but if so, why was his mother singled out so personally in the statement?

It’s been written by Nicola hasn’t it?

Maybe they’ve been trying to get their son away from him

If true, she really is a piece of work and he’s completely under her spell

And when she inevitably divorces him, I bet he runs back to Daddy and Mummy. He’s incapable of earning his own living. 🙄

He could have but what would he have done realistically? I said this on the other thread but the guy has sadly inherited his father’s intellect but not his football talent. His choices really would have been to go into a trade I.e plumbing, electrics etc but imagine Brooklyn Beckham turning up to fix your toilet!! Or go into the military like Ramsay’s son but he seems like a delicate soul.

Uni wasn’t an option for him, not to demean him but he isn’t the brightest. He had limited options. His parents kind of did this to him by forcing him into the limelight from birth.

If he's never looked comfortable in the spotlight what's with all the YouTube videos of him being a 'chef' and the big announcements on social media. Some of Gordon Ramsay's children have very normal jobs and lives, those who've decided to stay out of the spotlight. He could've done the same.

They won't do one I don't think. It'll just make it more embarrassing. It's kind of obvious really how they must be feeling about it. But they don't really go about the place showing emotion and anything negative needs to be ignored or squashed.

This 100%. They appear to have three other children who love them and support them. I suspect they will all continue to behave with dignity in spite of how they must be feeling.

Sartre · 23/01/2026 09:04

Do they generally? Did they when David had his infamous affair? Or when his email was leaked with him having a tantrum over not getting a knighthood? I think they usually stay quiet until it inevitably blows over.

GottaKeepItClassy · 23/01/2026 09:03

Yolanda Hadid's response to Nicola's attempt to cut Anwar off from his family was "Not on my watch" 😆

Yes, I agree - I felt sorry for him
reading that as I can totally understand it - he has never looked comfortable in the spotlight. Right from him being a baby I thought it was disgusting the way they used him for every possible photo op and have brought him and his siblings up in the spotlight regardless of whether they wanted that or not.

I do think he should’ve just cut them off and quietly got on with his life though. But I imagine he’s feeling very angry.

Some convincing arguments it’s all (mainly) a clever set up.

I doubt that very much. I don't mean that celebrities don't manufacture stories, they do it all the time. But this wouldn't serve anyone.

FinloCorrin · 23/01/2026 08:43

Oopsylazy · 23/01/2026 08:34

I agree with this. I watched RHOBH when Yolanda was on it and she came across as a very overbearing mother - and another one who had no qualms about putting her kids in the limelight.

Ps. Just reading some more about the dress - I don’t think it was the wedding dress they were talking about but probably another one - these celebs usually have two if not more dresses to change into at their weddings so I bet it’ll be that (and that info will probably come out soon!)

Yes, it was A wedding dress, not THE wedding dress. Just like the ‘first dance’ was A first dance of a planned wedding segment, not THE first dance. Different worlds and they’re welcome to them.

The statement from Brooklyn on Instagram was a PR spin-piece but many people who read it seem to feel his displaced pain was nevertheless discernible. So who knows.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 23/01/2026 06:18

I wonder what Zayn Malik thinks of Yolande Hadid! It was in the media he had problems with her as well so I wouldn't take anything that the Hadid's say as the truth, it all comes across as no one is good enough for them. Not Zayn and not Nicola.

How was he pimped out? He was the child of two very famous people.

They sold the first public photographs of his face to a magazine as part of their wedding when he was only a couple of months old. And then multiple times after that they called the press to take his photo when they went out over the years. Going to guess they saw some benefit from that too. £££

I'm loving the fact that Victoria's single is racing up the charts in Norway and New Zealand too.

It's number 1 on the UK IPhone charts.

They no doubt love their son very much so perhaps wont want to add fuel to the fire by making any statements . Perhaps just hoping it will blow over one day.

Maybe. But I've got a feeling that my colander leaks less than team Beckham.

He has an independent net worth of 10 million or something from modelling, TV & sauce etc, but yes…

Brooklyn doesn’t have any genuine independent wealth. Any money he’s made has been entirely down to who his parents are. If his parents were Mike and Sarah Smith from Basingstoke, he’d probably be doing a very ordinary office job earning a basic wage. And I’m 100% sure that if his wife had been a struggling Z-list actress/model from a poor background, he’d never have fallen out with his parents. It’s easy to flounce when you’ve got billions behind you.

They don’t need to make a statement, they are already planting 50 stories a day in the press to destroy the son they ‘love so much’.

I wouldn’t know about planted stories . If I had to call I’d saythey probably do love him very much though.

I hope he’s handed back any wealth that they gave him…

Did he not 'earn' it when they decided to sell him out to the media all of his life? He had no choice in the way they exploited him.

FinloCorrin · 23/01/2026 07:51

Kingscallops · 22/01/2026 22:40

You have to wonder about the effect this will have on Harper. The boys, having their own lives probably aren't fazed.

I feel extremely sorry for that 14 year old girl. What a crap life, surrounded by needy, capricious nutters. She spends a lot of time being part of a brand and has done for years. As a child, what meaningful consent can she give to this online, public lifestyle and whatever legal status she has within the brand? She’s one of many exploited children.

We have seen by now how so many children like this have fared in adulthood, and it’s not often a happy story when they’ve been in the limelight or even peripheral limelight and been damaged by that experience.

Saw the title and was briefly aghast at the thought that David Mitchell and Victoria Coran-Mitchell were separating.

This made me giggle
