Where is it?

Will they even do one?

Has anyone changed their initial viewpoint on the whole thing?

And lastly….Team Brooklyn or Team Beckham?

I think (and hope) they'll stay silent on the matter, BB has had his say they've not reacted, he'll probably go scorched earth about something else they've supposed to have done to get a reaction, and yet when the accused stay silent it speaks volumes and starts to make the person ranting sound unhinged, it usually works as the RF have demonstrated

Ginnyweasleyswand · 23/01/2026 09:50

And just to add - he doesn't seem to have thought about any future children he will have - who will be able to see this statement, including comments about their grandparents, and the furore around it. How will it make them feel - what about the impact on them? Not a lot of learning there is there.

And they may possibly throw it in his face in 20 years time as something that has caused them pain, unless he's a perfect parent and gets everything else right.

Some things are better left out of the media.

Elsvieta · 23/01/2026 09:48

They've lost their son. Probably, for once, they're not actually living up to what he says about them and thinking about "brand Beckham" at all. I bet making public statements is the last thing on their minds.

mumuseli · 23/01/2026 09:48

I think BB would have been wiser to miss out some parts of his statement - the bits about the wedding dress and the dance are now being scrutinised (maybe quite rightly, or maybe with help from his parents' media connections planting stories?) and it's now biting him on the bum. The statement would have been much more powerful in my opinion if he had only posted the bits about their inauthentic relationships, his anxious childhood etc.

I do find it laughable how Brooklyn was happy to cash in on his ‘unauthentic’ family’s brand well into adulthood and has only spoken out now that he’s found another rich person to bankroll him.

Well said

Or perhaps - for the first time in his life he was able to get some perspective and see how other families operate - he's only 26 - it can take years to get that perspective and make hard decisions. I'm not sure about his wife tbh - but I don't doubt that Brooklyn has been extremely damaged by his parents and their addiction to the press. He is aware of the lies - and I don't blame him at all for hitting back - it's insipid - the Daily Mail site is full of the Beckhams shot backs - it's all there.

He won't win though, as they are clever in the way they do it - which is evident here as it seems half of Mumsnet are falling for their very well managed image.

Crinkle77 · 22/01/2026 22:57

They won't do a statement. I think they're of the never complain, never explain ilk.

I would hope so, this is a family dispute that some kid has made public

How would any of us like this all over social media, our employers, our neighbours, the green grocer etc etc

Happyjoe · 23/01/2026 09:46

I truly am astonished that this is the big news story that it is. Who cares, really?

Ginnyweasleyswand · 23/01/2026 09:43

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/01/2026 08:33

They sold the first public photographs of his face to a magazine as part of their wedding when he was only a couple of months old. And then multiple times after that they called the press to take his photo when they went out over the years. Going to guess they saw some benefit from that too. £££

Whilst I do think this is wrong and I'm sure they profited - this was 26 years ago. You can argue it was common sense not to do this, but I think most of us have had more and more realisation in the last 20 years that social media and the media in general is a bad thing for children to be exposed to and involved in, especially from an early age.

I started off by posting FB pictures of my first child to share with family. I don't do that now. I'm also no longer on FB under my real name.

They were both quite young themselves and it was not generally known, as it is now, what the downsides were.

Let's hope they're learning some lessons and have done over the years and for their younger children.

It's bizarre that if BB feels so damaged by this treatment he's repeating the behaviour with his social media accusations. Surely anyone can see it's a bad idea and that the media will twist things? It seems very unlikely to result in anything positive for him other than more media attention - maybe that's what he wants (edited to add: though it's unlikely to make him happy and he doesn't seem to need the money so it's an odd decision).

Very sad all around.

I don’t think they will make a statement.

Initially I was team Brooklyn but now I am team Victoria and David. This all seems to have escalated since a brother started dating someone Nicola didn’t like as they had dated Brooklyn. Not saying there wasn’t some control from V&D but I think he now just doing as his wife says.

Brooklyn seems lost to me.

Who were the exes they/his mother (?) kept dangling in front of him I wonder (?) And was this pre marriage?

Anonymouseposter · 23/01/2026 09:41

I would be very surprised if V&D say anything at all. They will have probably taken advice and want to keep the door open for their son. It’s much to simple to say that I’m team Beckham or team Brooklyn. Perhaps the Beckham’s were too careless with their children’s privacy and used the children to help promote an image but their seem to be faults on B&N’s side too. People project a lot of their own stuff onto this situation and no one really knows what’s gone on. It’s possible one of the brothers will say something in an attempt to stand up for the parents but I don’t think that would be particularly helpful to the situation. These family rifts cause a lot of distress in any family. It must be a nightmare navigating it so publicly with everyone expressing an opinion on it.

FinloCorrin · 23/01/2026 09:36

They know each other, of course. They (Brooklyn and Nicola) visited the Sussexes at their home reportedly in May 2025.

Does anyone remember D&V being pissed off by being accused of ‘leaking’ by Harry at Meg’s behest?

And then all that ^^ got (deliberately) leaked.

Hamsters on wheels.

Yes, what was the falling out about? The Sussexes accused VB (?)

Downbythelac · 23/01/2026 09:38

I think they will stay silent, which is the right thing to do.

The best example ever of staying silent when an offspring goes scorched earth, is the RF, staying silent had no impact on RF popularity or image, in fact, they garnered a whole lot of sympathy and admiration for not reacting, while on the other hand, Harry going scorched earth destroyed his popularity and reputation. Harry is now trying to find his way back to his family, as everything they have done in the US has been pretty much a failure. Brooklyn going scorched earth with his parents will have a similar impact on him and his wife, I think. The public support for Victoria has really gotten traction, in a similar way Catherine got a huge amount of support when Meghan and Harry called her a racist.

I think we are watching in real time, another own goal for the famous offspring of a very famous family.

ImSweetEnough · 23/01/2026 09:38

I think that statement was written by Nicola. I think bits of it are embellished. I can't begin to imagine what this dancing 'on' her son means and why 'Posh' would do such a thing. She can laugh at herself but she does always remain classy.

No doubt the Beckham children's childhoods were quite controlled.

Victoria has always been image conscious. D&V have surrounded themselves with advisors on image and PR over the years. The brand is more important than D's alleged infidelities.

But when all is said and done, D&V have always come across well. I am 55 and have never read anything alluding to them treating staff badly or just not being dedicated, friendly people. I watched the Ali G interview yesterday to remind myself of how warm and self-deprecating they can both be.

I think they slept-walked into the whole family brand dynamic. I don't think they had (or could have had) the foresight to see that it might damage their children. They were born at the dawn of social media.

Brooklyn Beckham is 26 years old and could have distanced himself from his parents a long time before he met his now wife if he really wanted to. And what exactly have his siblings done? I suspect the Peltz family are not very nice people but they are very powerful.

I don't think D&V will put out a statement and if they do, it will just be about their love for their children.

I feel very sorry for them. As a parent, it must be heart breaking. I think and hope that ultimately they will reconcile with their eldest son.

One brother is dating his brother's ex girlfriend.

The other brother, 19 years old, is dating a woman who is 29 years old, and happens to be the spitting image of his mother...

All just a touch ... odd?

Yes, Cruz's older girlfriend looks so much like Victoria. Plus I saw an article that Romeo is recently back with an ex (maybe the one who went out with Brooklyn?) called Kim, who also looks to me a bit like Victoria. & I feel Nicola also looks at times not dissimilar to VB. So it's interesting that all 3 brothers have gone for women who are older than them and look like their mum. I'm surprised there hasn't been a trashy article (that I've seen) picking up on this in the press!

Erm, he was frightened of the cameras, yet Posh would call the paps - they have a relationship with the press like the Royals do.

They don't need to put out a statement, they do their PR by working with journalists (many of them DM) - who put out stories - that's what has pushed Brooklyn to do what he has done - and they are still doing it!

It's quite shocking to me that so many people can't see through the bullshit with these two - he's a philanderer - she's insecure and obsessed with their image. They probably didn't realise the impact of their relationship on their son - he cheats, Brooklyn is in the middle trying to console his mother and also be a good son to his Dad. Brooklyn has stated he hated the press and grew up with intense anxiety - but it's always been about the fame and money.

☝️ This x a million.

I think no one could have predicted how social media would evolve. It used to be, at BB’s earliest years at least, tomorrow’s chip paper.

It was for the consumer but that was probably scant consolation to the baby, toddler and young child getting grown men with cameras clicking away at them multiple times a week at the request of his parents.

Laundryblue · 23/01/2026 09:34

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

I feel like mumsnetters from the 'Stately Homes' thread might understand some things others can't.
To me, Brooklyn's statement smacked of someone trying desperately to explain how their parents have failed them, and struggling to find the reasons and the examples without sounding petty.
If he felt growing up as if his feelings didn't matter, if his parents were subtly kinder to the other children, if Brooklyn has been the scapegoat for too long, if he lived on his nerves in case he disappointed or angered them, until his fight or flight was totally fecked, if they shut him down when he stood up to them, if they were physically present but emotionally unavailable, or choosing to be largely physically absent too, if they lied to him to serve their own purposes, if everything at home was always them, them, them, if he only ever felt like an extension of their complicated public personas, if they made him feel small, or less, so they could feel bigger, and more, if any of this, then I just wish him happiness and peace.
Yes they have provided him with enormous wealth, but working with young people has taught me that's not as much of a privilege as comfortable means and fantastic parents. My heart goes out to him. I hope he can be happy. His lived experience is unique to him and I hope he can move forward healthily.

If the case, & I don’t fundamentally disagree, but he could have found better examples. The inappropriate dancing, he says was the worst thing that has ever happened in his short life. This rather insults those of us on stately homes thread etc IMO. It says so much. Particularly as this didn’t reach the press at the time. Embarrassing, perhaps, but contained.

Ditto VB not supporting dogs. He also singled his mother out particularly viciously & personally. Unless she’s only to blame this doesn’t stand up.

YourBrickTiger · 23/01/2026 09:20

Ikeameatballs · 22/01/2026 22:38

I hope he’s handed back any wealth that they gave him…

This is just reeking of the attitude towards Harry. Why should he have to hand the wealth back if he has been treated as he says? When did we become a society where people aren't allowed to speak out, depending on how famous your parents are?! It would be TOTALLY different if the 'child' speaking out was a sexual abuse victim, with no money whose parents were just Joe and Jane Bloggs.
