Where is it?

Will they even do one?

Has anyone changed their initial viewpoint on the whole thing?

And lastly….Team Brooklyn or Team Beckham?

I’d say MOST of it was unnecessary detail & his case loses almost all its power, IMHO, if these were the best & only examples he has. Especially the case as he was hardly sparing his mother’s feelings.

I suppose he felt his feelings hadn't been considered... who knows. Hopefully they'll find a way to heal at some point. From experience of going NC with my family, it isn't easy and takes a lot to get you to that point. I've said some horrible things to other members of my family about my mum, some of which were said in the heat of the moment and others I think were totally justified... I am sure she would say otherwise though.

For goodness sake....kim Turnbull has come out publicly and said they were never together. Theyve known each other for a long time and perhaps he had a crush, but according to her they never dated.

This narrative isn’t helped as BB himself ambiguously references ex girlfriends being dangled in front of him to put him off NP. Pre or post marriage?

WildFlowerBees · 23/01/2026 10:26

All of the statements from people is a bit nuts. No one knows what kind of parents that actually are, we don’t know if everything BB states is fact, we don’t know anything other than there’s a family who’s probably painful estrangement is being played out on the world stage. Doesn’t anyone else think this is so odd that so many people in the world are loving this, making memes at the expense of others and generally enjoying the public fallout. Some have normalised laughing at others pain and being Schadenfreude merchants.

I know, it's like they've learnt nothing from posts. At the end of the day, some of it was unnessesacry detail but the crux of it was that he felt uncomfortable with his upbringing and that it had got worse. He is still their, young, son and it still all seems to be about saving the brand rather that the relationship.

Well one of the brothers is dating his ex. I cant see that contributing to a happy family atmos.

TirednessOnToast · 23/01/2026 10:23

There are some paralells with the Royal family & the Harry & Meghan situation.
In that, a young person grows up in a very unusual set of circumstances, enormously wealthy but fairly isolated from normality. When they meet their 'significant other' they are (both) heavily scruntinised. They may have things to say about their upbringing, but are young & make some public statements, emotion-led, about family of origin. This is then gobbled up by the media & made infinitely worse than it might have been. Family of origin may say nothing publicly but will no doubt leak their own side of things. Very sad for all of them.

Wonder what the "strange dynamic" is that the football coach mentions.

It’s a shame he didn’t continue with the football, friends, comradeship etc. Doesn’t sound like he was hopeless either.

It sounds like BB grew up in a suffocating, controlled environment. If he suffers from anxiety having an exacting FIL, akin to stuff of Godfather, may not be a cakewalk.

Of course they are. They’ve sold their kids to the media, there is literally nothing they wouldn’t do for money and prestige.

Because that’s normal isn’t it? Jesus wept.

Well they're not the average Sandra and Ron from next door are they? They would have had sponsership deals from household names that wouldn't want to be associated if the kids opened a business such as "Beckhams Brothel" everything about them IS branding so of course they'd do this, it's what a lot of famous people do, Meghan Markle has trademarked Archi and Lili's names...

202617thjan · 23/01/2026 10:03

I mean, they haven't officially said anything but if you look at the amount of pro VB anti NP stories that have gone out over the last few days it's quite obvious their PR team is working overtime to rework the narrative back in their favour.

Brooklyn and Nicola have done a staged pap walk for Backgrid, her carrying a coffee cup in her left hand so that her wedding ring is front and centre. It’s giving worldwide privacy tour.

'It’s giving worldwide privacy tour.' 😂

100%!

Wintersgirl · 23/01/2026 09:55

I found the branding buisiness a bit odd ?

I read that they did it to protect the Beckham name/brand, they didn't want Brooklyn and any future spouse opening a string of businesses with their name attached to which they would have no control over..

Because that’s normal isn’t it? Jesus wept.

Totally this

People are writing as if its normal to hate your parents or never speak to them again because they're flawed as parents, so he was a philanderer, not the best trait but lots of people have affairs, its private business between that person and their partner, it affects the kids of course it does and the children will be hurt and confused at times by that, its not a reason never to speak to your parents again.

And so she is insecure, is that really the tool to bash her with? Ive seen it written so many times how shes very fragile, brittle, insecure, doesnt eat, isnt sure of herself, well yes, many of us have issues like that, its a life long battle to try to work with it, live with it, overcome it, none of us are perfect.

Seems like unless you're some saint your kids can just ignore you for their adult lives and thats ok.

Ffs there’s ’flawed as parents’ then there’s selling your child’s life to the paparazzi from birth when you’re already very rich

I think that statement was written by Nicola. I think bits of it are embellished. I can't begin to imagine what this dancing 'on' her son means and why 'Posh' would do such a thing. She can laugh at herself but she does always remain classy.

No doubt the Beckham children's childhoods were quite controlled.

Victoria has always been image conscious. D&V have surrounded themselves with advisors on image and PR over the years. The brand is more important than D's alleged infidelities.

But when all is said and done, D&V have always come across well. I am 55 and have never read anything alluding to them treating staff badly or just not being dedicated, friendly people. I watched the Ali G interview yesterday to remind myself of how warm and self-deprecating they can both be.

I think they slept-walked into the whole family brand dynamic. I don't think they had (or could have had) the foresight to see that it might damage their children. They were born at the dawn of social media.

Brooklyn Beckham is 26 years old and could have distanced himself from his parents a long time before he met his now wife if he really wanted to. And what exactly have his siblings done? I suspect the Peltz family are not very nice people but they are very powerful.

I don't think D&V will put out a statement and if they do, it will just be about their love for their children.

I feel very sorry for them. As a parent, it must be heart breaking. I think and hope that ultimately they will reconcile with their eldest son.

Totally this

Of course, lots of people have gripes about their parents: “They fuck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to but they do”.

Agree some of the examples he gives: the dance and the dogs. Like it’s written by a teenager.

And why say it publicly? He can distance himself from his family. He can tell them all this. But why tell the world? Why blow up the internet to call for peace and privacy? Why does it matter what the world thinks?

I haven’t got a scooby what’s going on in his life. But strikes me his mental health isn’t great. Driven by emotion. Not thinking clearly or applying any perspective. Focusing on the negative, rather than the positive. IMHO, those close to him should’ve kindly tried to stop him going public. I hope he ends up in a happier place. So sad.

David’s comment about kids making mistakes and that’s how they learn will likely be the only statement they’ll make. If they have any sense. IMHO, they should all get off social media and red carpets and enjoy their millions in private.

Why tell anyone anything?

Why do people go public that their spouse has cheated on them? Why do people go public with a serious health battle?

Firstly because they’ve had to endure article after article, speculation after speculation and rumour after rumour. I don’t believe if a rumour was going round your workplace about you (for example) you wouldn’t want to put that straight. Only for BB, it’s the whole world. Not just a workplace.

Secondly because his parents have insisted on their children living their lives in the public eye; and this is just an extension of that. They can’t wheel them out for photo ops then complain when the kids, as adults, engage with the press and want to put their own narrative forwards.

Thirdly it has taken him 8 years of adult life to put this 1 statement across. For somebody who ‘wants to do nothing but whinge and draw attention to himself’, that seems quite restrained to me. Each example he gives is evidenced, this isn’t a rant of pure insults but a statement laying out his feelings regarding the Beckham Empire and his forced participation in it.

If somebody started an ‘I’m famous and want to put my child in the public eye from newborn, AIBU’ everyone would call them a terrible parent and ask why on earth they would sell their kid’s privacy in this way. Social media - even a small presence - is known to cause anxiety in teenagers, so just imagine being part of such a famous ‘brand’ and being stalked by cameras and in articles 24/7. Nobody on here worried about their young adult child’s anxiety and lack of coping skills is told to tell their child to stop being such an ungrateful brat, and that they’re an adult now. Yet somebody brought up without any authentic relationships and in the media circus is supposed to be stronger than that?

Anyone taking D&V’s side is probably a defensive parent with ‘low contact’ kids themselves tbh

Yes, what was the falling out about? The Sussexes accused VB (?)

It’s fascinating in a strange way, because of the involvement of the ubiquitous ‘fixer’ Markus Anderson, who has featured very heavily in Meghan Markle’s move into high(er) society, and also because it talks of the Beckhams employing a ‘communications director’.

‘According to the Mail On Sunday, David Beckham is “absolutely bloody furious” after it was reportedly suggested that he and his wife Victoria had leaked stories to the press about friends Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

‘The Beckhams famously attended the former Royals wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018 and the two men formed a close friendship when Beckham was invited to be the Invictus Games’ official ambassador, of which The Duke Of Sussex is a founder.

‘But lesser known is the fact both couples properly bonded via Markus Anderson, the chief membership officer at private social club Soho House in London. Anderson is said to be good friends with David Beckham’s communications director, and helped arrange secret dates between Markle and the Prince when they were first getting to know one another …’

David Beckham Reportedly “Absolutely Bloody Furious” With Meghan Markle

Thank goodness we've moved onto 'it MUST be a woman's fault' nice and quickly.

Caveat: I don't know much about the Beckhams.
But I did read another thread the other day & thought:
Perhaps BB has moved from one quite controlled environment (the Brand, the childhood publicity, not a normal family atmosphere anyway) to another (with the child of an extremely rich perhaps also quite controlled or demanding life?)

In a similar way a person who has left an abusive relationship can sometimes find themselves in another before they have quite realised? I am not saying either situation was abusive for BB but perhaps in terms of dynamics?

Anyway, it's horrible for all of them really. Family dynamics are so important (& why they can hurt so much) so very sad to see it all played out in public.

Playingvideogames · 23/01/2026 09:52

Team Brooklyn here.

The fact he’s a bit dim, or looks a certain way, or has rich parents is irrelevant.

His parents have treated their kids like a media lemon to squeeze when they absolutely could have kept their entire lives private. The fact they didn’t speaks for itself.

I believe his statement and although D&V probably have their own version of events, broadly speaking I’m going to take the side of the child who has been forced to grow up in the spotlight and treated as a brand cash cow.

There’s rampant judgement on here of Instamums who flog their kids online, this is much much worse.

If the case, & I don’t fundamentally disagree, but he could have found better examples. The inappropriate dancing, he says was the worst thing that has ever happened in his short life. This rather insults those of us on stately homes thread etc IMO. It says so much. Particularly as this didn’t reach the press at the time. Embarrassing, perhaps, but contained.

Ditto VB not supporting dogs. He also singled his mother out particularly viciously & personally. Unless she’s only to blame this doesn’t stand up.

Whilst I do think this is wrong and I'm sure they profited - this was 26 years ago. You can argue it was common sense not to do this, but I think most of us have had more and more realisation in the last 20 years that social media and the media in general is a bad thing for children to be exposed to and involved in, especially from an early age.

I honestly cannot believe that it didn't occur to either of them that allowing grown men with cameras to terrorise their toddler wasn't a great move but the money talked louder. A poster put an extract from Richard Desmond's (former newspaper editor) autobiography on a different thread and he said he used to sit down with them and work out where they'd be so the paps could be there too.

I don't think putting kids on social media is a good thing to do unless it's only the back of their head or their face covered by an emoji but I have far less respect for people who sold their private moments to OK magazine for money they didn't even need.

Owl55 · 23/01/2026 09:51

Why does Nicola get the blame , he’s a 26 year old man and quite capable of making decisions himself ?Its very normal when you marry to separate a little from the family and concentrate on their own relationship , I do wonder if the Beckhams were a little too demanding of him , after all he lives in the USA now and can’t possibly turn up for everything . I found the branding buisiness a bit odd ?
