Where is it?

Will they even do one?

Has anyone changed their initial viewpoint on the whole thing?

And lastly….Team Brooklyn or Team Beckham?

Possibly.

But the fact the DJ is a big friend of the Beckhams (indeed Godfather to their dcs) and that relationships had already soured between them and BB/NP at this point suggests you are being a bit naive to think it wasn’t a bit planned.

The”first dance” referred to was the first dance of Marc Anthony’s set and yes, I absolutely think that should’ve been between BB/NP. And as MIL I’d have insisted they dance first.

Possibly the DJ orchestrated it all himself but I think some of you are maybe giving VB a little too much credit here - remember at this point she already disliked NP enough to refuse to make her dress…

Im not naive, I know there could have been collusion, but where is the evidence of this?

The wedding will have been meticulously planned by the bride and her family, the DJ going rogue might have happened but Im assuming he was paid by the bride, why would you agree to upset her? Im not sure VB is that powerful is she

Whats the reason VB didnt do the dress, because she didnt like the bride or because it wasnt the right design/couldnt meet need?

VB didn't hijack Brooklyn and Nicola's first dance, though – that dance had already passed without incident, earlier in the evening, followed by Nicola dancing with her dad.

Whatever happened during the dance involving VB and Brooklyn, it was the first dance/song of Marc Anthony's set, long after the newlywed's actual first dance.

And VB isn't responsible for Marc Anthony being a total fuckwit and referring to anyone other than the bride as the most beautiful woman in the room.

The rights and wrongs of how VB and DB raised Brooklyn (and how interesting that VB is getting all the heat on that, not DB, who will have had equal responsibility as a parent), are an entirely separate issue.

But on the matter of the newlyweds' first dance, it seems clear that VB did not hijack it at all.

BB has said or heavily implied otherwise, therein the issue. He said this! It’s trivial, IMO, & if this & dogs are best he has as abuse examples words rather fail…BB says worst thing in his life re: dance embarrassment…It seems that instructions were given…’hands on waist’…etc

Complete aside, but how well did VB - and DB - know EJ before asking him to be Godfather? Well?

They probably just share the same PR company!

Some of you might. Some of us might establish through the discussion on the thread that it wasnt the first dance, the MIL was called up to the stage and announced by the DJ and was told how to dance a particular style which mother and son did

She didnt refer to herself as such

We would then empathise that the DJ made a massive faux pas and that was insensitive to the bride and perhaps a bit cringy to do a salsa but its late into the evening by then, we've all had a few drinks type of thing.

But the definition put on the MIL of a monster, toxic, narcissistic?

Extreme words for social clumsiness, not necessarily of the MIL's making

He has an independent net worth of 10 million or something from modelling, TV & sauce etc, but yes…

He is an average looking man with an average personality. He wouldn't have got those gigs without the Beckham name.

My friend cannot accept that Sir Elton John has sided with Brooklyn. She is shocked. SHOCKED.

I dont think anyone is saying he hasnt got issues with his parents and elements of his childhood and he's right to feel whatever he feels about that.

its about how you deal with that. A spiteful public attack on his mum, also with manipulated detail, thats not on.

Deal with it in private

Its not about 'siding' as such.

You have to remember that Vogue are only going to write a fairytale, sanitised version of events ( that they’ve been told to do)

They don’t want to write about the MIL doing sexy dancing with the groom and the bride flouncing in tears! It will have been given to BB & NP’s PR to go over before printing and at that point they obviously weren’t ready to do an honest account of things - the Vogue article doesn’t really show anything.

Also often things that happen in real time especially at something like a wedding aren’t fully processed and scrutinised until much later. I did the same with my own wedding and some of the behaviours of family on the day - at the time I just wanted everything to go well and be perfect - but even now years later I look back and think “wtf was all that about”?

Agree, Vogue article/interview would not have covered incidents like Marc Anthony's idiotic comment, any discomfort Brooklyn showed at having to dance salsa with his mum, and Nicola running off in tears. It's a puff piece, like all sleb/showbiz journalism of that kind is.

What seems less likely is that they'd construct a time line that was wholly incorrect – ie Marc Anthony's 11pm set actually being earlier, and kicking off with what should have been the newlywed's proper first dance.

I posted it solely for what it showed about the timeline of the day – that the newlywed's actual first dance was earlier, sung by Lloyiso, not Marc Anthony. Whatever Brooklyn felt about finding himself dancing with his mum, not his wife, for that first dance/song of Marc Anthony's set, it wasn't his official 'first dance' with his wife – that had happened earlier.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/01/2026 11:00

Yes, it probably would've done him good. I wonder if it also first showed a divide that ramped up his anxiety, all the other kids carefree enjoying their sport Vs Brooklyn, whose going to be compared to his well known famous footballer dad and his security team.

I do struggle to believe he needed bodyguards while football training aged 14. I remember there was a kidnap threat to one of the Beckham children (I have it in my head as being Romeo but might be wrong) when they were tiny and so that could have influenced that decision. But perhaps therapy for the parents rather than 24/7 security for the children would've been better.

Edited

Digression alert. I think the Beckhams must get a lot of seriously credible threats, as they're so very tight on security. They use world-class security agencies - previously Gavin deBecker Associates, and probably still - who earn their giant fees by knowing which threats can be dismissed and which may be critical. Anybody knows it's not ideal for kids to be shadowed by guards at football practice, there must have been good reason.

You lot can't blame this on V&D publicity seeking, at least, as it's never been of much interest to the tabloids. If anything, the security keeps them away.

BB has flagged as first dance which should have been with NP. So…

It really isn’t the best example of abusive parenting, ditto dogs. He likely has a point but it’s very poorly made (IMO) as our ongoing discussion proves. As for it being worst thing ever endured in his short life thus far..:He’s telling us his life is rather charmed, isn’t he?

I mean, you’re the one assuming here, and getting it wrong.
Marc Anthony is a very good friend of David and Victorias, he’s godfather to two of their children, Cruz and Harper. He was performing at the wedding due to him being a family friend,

Sounds like the “most beautiful woman in the room” comment was a total set up then. Which is disgusting and extremely spiteful.

Agree. BB talks of Mum waiting in wings & sounds like a planned Latino ‘surprise’ with ‘actions’. My idea of hell as my mother would know! These unexpected bonus surprises seem very popular at weddings etc currently, waiters faux tripping & singing etc.

BB has anxiety - not fun for him!

Oopsylazy · 23/01/2026 13:45

So you think bringing your child up as part of a brand, flaunting them online, summoning them to photo shoots, and making sure they can never be anonymous when you have the option not to is ‘good parenting’?

No, it’s not what I’d have done with my kids. But my point still stands that if you don’t want to be in the public eye, like PH and BB say, then just disappear, delete social media, stop writing books and taking to magazines, people would soon forget about them if that was what they really wanted.

PinkPanther57 · 23/01/2026 13:42

GottaKeepItClassy · 23/01/2026 13:27

There was a story circulating shortly after the wedding of a wedding guest being on the receiving end of an allegedly ‘completely foul outburst’ from an ‘irate’ Nelson Pelz because they used one of the mansion toilets and not one of the portable toilets set up in the marquis areas.

Maybe the guest was Marc Anthony 😁
Might explain his DJ set!!!

I’ve no doubt D and V do love their kids, and have certainly made enough money to be able to provide financially for them. However, they have shown zero respect for their right to privacy. Using them to create a ‘brand’ is emotionally abusive, those children had no choice in being plastered all over their social media and being exposed publicly like they’ve been.

Everybody's at it with their children.
Everybody should stop.

Jimpson · 23/01/2026 13:39

Also never heard of this ‘Fat Tony’ but he seems to be loving the attention. I was expecting him look like the rapper Fat Joe but he doesn’t! If anything he looks drawn/ill.

I mean, can you imagine a thread on here where the OP says the MIL hijacked the first dance at her wedding and then was announced as “the most beautiful person in the room”?? And surely this comment came from one of the Beckhams cronies bc who in their right mind would even SAY that!? Nicola Peltz may or may not be a bitch but she is a stunning young woman and it was her frigging wedding day and let’s be honest - Posh has never been regarded as a beauty!

I mean come on - We’d all be calling the MIL a toxic, narcissistic monster!

My dad gave me my flat deposit.

I’m NC with him now.

I refused that money for a long time until it was pointed out that if I didn’t take it, he would spend it on alcohol or his money grabbing wife and her kids (they got a lot more anyway).

It will never make up for the damage to my MH from years of physical and mental abuse, but at least I live in a modest stable home and now so do my children. I’ve developed high level autoimmune illnesses throughout my adult life which I’m convinced are linked to living under high stress for my first 18 years. Thankfully I can work part time and claim nothing as my housing situation is secure.

People can judge away and call me a petty gold digger all they like. They have no idea what it’s like to have parents like this

I think a lot of people jumping to the Beckhams defence possibly speak from a place of privilege and can’t imagine what it’s like to grow up in a toxic environment with narcissistic parents who put their own wants and needs first.

As others have said, if you strip away the “petty” things like the dress and the dance it’s really very sad and the fact he’s felt the need to do this speaks volumes really.

Brooklyn snapped because of their continuous briefings to the press- the Beckhams are smart in the way they handle the media - it might look like his snapping has come from nowhere but he sees the press briefings, the manipulation - it takes a while to realise your own family are fucked up as when you are growing up inside it you don't see the badness, as Mum and Dad - who love you, are just doing their best. It's only when hes had a bit of space and has realised the source of his anxiety - to do what he has done.

No one knows how hard it is to cut off parents, I do - it's fucking hard and only done to protect oneself when continual contact has a damaging effect. They won't get him back - they are continuing as before, briefing the press - it's laughable people think they are 'keeping quiet'.

It’s also laughable that people think the so called briefings and leaks are only one way. We have known for years about problems with the dress, the supposed hijacked first dance, Mark Anthony calling Victoria beautiful and that Romeo is supposedly dating Brooklyn’s ex (although she’s clearly said they’ve only ever been friends) so where do people think those stories came from eh? There’s also been several articles over the years about VB being a nightmare MIL and snubbing NBP but let’s just ignore all that and blame the Beckhams entirely.

allthingsinmoderation · 23/01/2026 13:38

woolfibre100 · 23/01/2026 13:17

I don't think Fat Tony is intending to mean that the BB/VB first dance was THE first dance (ie the newlyweds first dance).

In his This Morning interview he says 'first dance' in the context of talking about it being the first dance of Marc Anthony's set, which we know was much later in the evening, after the newlyweds' actual first dance, which had been between BB and NP, with another singer doing the performance of their first dance song.

It's an unfortunate lack of clarity, which reinforces the misrepresentation of BB's statement. Fat Tony may not have intended that, but the result is that it's reinforcing the misunderstanding that VB muscled in on the actual newlyweds' official first dance, which she didn't.

I think Brooklyns statement about his mum hyjacking his first dance with his bride at his wedding was emphatic, but it seems now it may not have been the actual first dance but the first dance of Marc Anthonys evening disco set.
Brooklyn is either badly advised (given how litigious the Peltz family are ,i think lawyers would have checked for accuracy of detail?)
Also, Fat Tonys version saying Marc Anthony called Brooklyn and Victoria to the stage and called Victoria "the most beautiful woman in the room " if true is a tad insensitive at a wedding (not a crying and storming from the room issue though) and not Victoria fault.
