To think people are missing the main point that Brooklyn Beckham is trying to reveal ?

Firstly I know the goings on of this family are not important news and there are more important things to worry about in the world .
But I’m finding it surprising that people are fixating on things like the wedding dress and the dancing . There are a couple of points in his statements when he is clearly saying what I have always believed- that David and Victoria are not a couple as they like to portray . I’ve always thought David’s disdain of her is quite obvious in the way he talks to her and that she appears lost and soulless but intent on preserving the brand .
BB says “ 'The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
Then - “ media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.'”

To me it seems obvious what he is hinting at ?

He is making it clear that people can fake engagement, and social media, for their own ends.

Interesting that people would take this message, and believe his social media posts and engagement that puts his side in a positive light . . . . .

You mean uninterested. Disinterested means that you are not influenced by consideration of personal advantage.

Thanks so much for that - absolutely thrilled that you joined the thread to point that out !

and it can mean -

having or feeling no interest in something; uninterested. "her father was so disinterested in her progress that he only visited the school once"

He has had aot of opportunities to move in famous and wealthy circles but actually his family's fame will have stopped him pursuing a normal job/life etc.

@CleverButScatty Many children of famous people have normal careers though-a couple of Gordon Ramsay’s children have chosen to do this, for example, whereas others have chosen to stay in the public eye.
Wealth gives you immense choice.

Depends. Some famous parents will send their kids to top schools, focus on education and success, keep them out of the limelight and instal a work ethic in them. Some will give them ridiculous names that would target them if they tried to get a normal job, won’t be focused on education and will immerse them in a world of social media and publicity. That makes it very hard for them to have any semblance of a normal life.
And I think one of Gordon’s kids is in the marines and another in PR but it’s not like they’re all independent high flyers, eg Holly.

Sorry I disagree. The statement is anything but professionally put together. It's badly written and the terms used shout out a young person having a rant. No PR company would write that way.

I think he did write it because their PR manager quit/was let go yesterday.

@BillieWiper

What I don't get is what was stopping him from just quietly doing a normal job, getting an education and acting and being just a regular person. If all the trappings of celebrity and publicity etc weren't his thing.
He could've just said at 16, I'm going to get an apprenticeship, I'm going to use a diff. surname to make sure there's no favouritism and I want to try and save up for my own little flat, slowly build my career and have a family with a normal young woman. But he didn't because he didn't like the idea of having to do any hard work.

I'm not sure if its as simple as that. People tend to go into similar professions, or at least similar ambits, as their families. You do get exceptions but by and large children tend to be steered into jobs which are within their scope of knowledge. If you have two barrister parents and one of their children decides to become a mechanic it tends to cause friction.

Add onto that that Beckham Inc is a huge multimillion dollar machine. Add on the fact that the parents are at the very least control freaks, if not downright narcissists. Add in the fact that all of Brooklyn's friends would have been deliberately curated to be from celebrity (or at least very wealthy) background so he wouldn't have encountered many "normal" people. And add to that that his parents would have highly disapproved of him having a 'civilian' job so he wouldn't have got any help with it.

It's not impossible to break away from that sort of environment but it's hard. And that is basically what he's trying to do now in his own slightly cack-handed way.

I do have some sympathy for these people, despite the money. It must be horrendous to grow up in that environment.

Yeah. Realistically him defying his family's 'tradition' at 16 to become a fully self sufficient plumbers apprentice would be no 'easier' than a kid who was from the care system and had been kicked out of a PRU with no qualifications saying they wanted to become and Oxford professor. In terms of barriers and expectations from both family, peers and society. It's just one has loads of money tempting them to stick with it, the other has negative barriers or lack of money preventing them.

RoundandSad · 20/01/2026 16:25

What do you mean "not a couple?"

People can marry for whatever reason they like including friendship or whatever... money ... brand

It's allowed

AllIdoistidyup · 20/01/2026 16:24

Everyone is focusing on that bit because that's the bit people can blame on Nicola. It's a bit harder to spin it her way when he talks about his childhood anxieties and the Beckhams' marriage.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 20/01/2026 16:22

They’re definitely not ‘together’

just like a lot of celeb couples - look too hard and you’ll see the cracks

what’s Rebecca Loos doing these days - didn’t they embarrass her on cbb when it was on?

LaurieFairyCake · 20/01/2026 16:21

I’ve never liked David Beckham, he comes across as sleazy to me. Victoria is amazing at designing, honestly she’s really respected. Definitely found her niche.

I feel sorry for Victoria and I wonder if the son is blaming her for the sins of the father. Which is frankly depressing.

I think the most glaringly obvious thing from his post is he didn’t write it. I suppose when you marry into a family with money you can afford the best PR.

He wouldn’t have been able to be anonymous after his parents paraded him in front of the world from when he was a baby. Thats like saying members of the royal family could live like ordinary people if they wanted to.

Brooklyn would be the only one I would recognise and thats because of his own online presence as an adult if I walked past any of there other kids the street I wouldn't have a clue

I don't think anyone's missing the jist of what he's trying to say. It's plain as a sledgehammer to the face.

What I don't get is what was stopping him from just quietly doing a normal job, getting an education and acting and being just a regular person. If all the trappings of celebrity and publicity etc weren't his thing.

But he didn't because he didn't like the idea of having to do any hard work.

Now he's cosseted by the Peltz billions, he can finally 'speak his truth' and continue to never have to do any hard work. Safe in the knowledge that if his parents cut him off financially he'll still be loaded for life.

He wouldn’t have been able to be anonymous after his parents paraded him in front of the world from when he was a baby. Thats like saying members of the royal family could live like ordinary people if they wanted to.

The very idea that Brooklyn Beckham has the wit or intelligence to write a nuanced message is nothing short of laughable. He's as thick as mince and if he really thinks that vacuous wife of his sees living out her days with him then, well, I rest my case.

I don't know anything about him, but how can someone who has never met him declare he is 'thick as mince?'
I'm guessing he's had had the best education money can buy.
He has had aot of opportunities to move in famous and wealthy circles but actually his family's fame will have stopped him pursuing a normal job/life etc.
And his family gave not protected him from fame to allow him this option.

He might be 'thick' or intelligent, how would you know?

They should be sacked then because it’s full of grammar mistakes.

Maybe they tried to do it as though he had written it (when I was taught to draft witness statements was taught to do it in witnesses own words)

LemonTT · 20/01/2026 16:12

They are a couple and a partnership. It might not be one many of us would recognise in the traditional context.

The only course of action for someone who is in the position he claims he is in is to ignore the provocation. The answer is always to grey rock.

LBFseBrom · 20/01/2026 16:12

He's not hinting, he is actually saying it.

It's not unusual for people to have a public face, especially those with a high profile. I know plenty of quite ordinary people who present a different picture to the world to how life is indoors on their own. It's their protection.

However Brooklyn can't really say his home life was terrible and there's no doubt his parents loved him. Who has perfect parents?

It's a bit much to turn against them so publicly, he knows how the media will lap this up and make more of it. He's behaving like a petulant teenager. I can remember thinking my family were bloody hypocrites when I was a youngster but I wouldn't have gone to the newspapers. I wasn't happy but they didn't abuse me.

BruFord · 20/01/2026 16:09

Hopingforaholiday · 20/01/2026 16:02

He seems very young for his age and naive. He seems to be very into the 24/7 together idea of a relationship and lots of show on social media.
A nearly 30 yr old marriage will never look like that. Lots of wealthy couples spend limited time together, having multiple properties makes that easier. I imagine they can easily go weeks without seeing each other if they choose, him in USA, then her in Paris.
I doubt Brooklyn and Nicola will still be together at 50 but if they are their relationship will look very different to how it is as newlyweds.

I agree @Hopingforaholiday. I hope he gets on with his life and is happy and if he doesn’t want contact with his parents, so be it. But it won’t surprise me if in a few years, he misses his family, despite their faults.
