To think people are missing the main point that Brooklyn Beckham is trying to reveal ?

Firstly I know the goings on of this family are not important news and there are more important things to worry about in the world .
But I’m finding it surprising that people are fixating on things like the wedding dress and the dancing . There are a couple of points in his statements when he is clearly saying what I have always believed- that David and Victoria are not a couple as they like to portray . I’ve always thought David’s disdain of her is quite obvious in the way he talks to her and that she appears lost and soulless but intent on preserving the brand .
BB says “ 'The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
Then - “ media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.'”

To me it seems obvious what he is hinting at ?

The Ramseys aren’t comparable to brand beckhem come on

@Louielovecharlotte The Ramsays are just one example that sprang to mind. My point is that he can do whatever he wants with his life, he can become far more anonymous if he wants to.

Woodenwonder · 20/01/2026 17:30

I hope he's ok, it's a huge thing to publicly state your boundaries and I applaud him for saying it with chest. It sounds like he felt put in a position to choose between his family of origin or his future family and he's chosen his future. Families that are brands aren't families, they're businesses and he clearly isn't enjoying being answerable to that idea. He can't help who he was born to but he can choose distance if he wants, at least for now. People harping about wealth etc have never had money and it shows, because ultimately it means nothing without inner peace.

upstairsdownstairscardboardbox · 20/01/2026 17:30

I think the Beckhams seem like relics of another age these days. The covering up for affairs constantly, the glamour and family photo calls - it's all very late 90s 00's and a million miles from how young celebs operate today.
Anyone who knows anything about the Beckhams knows he will fuck pretty much anything that moves, there is no way his kids aren't aware and have a view.

It’s really easy to not comment on threads you don’t care about. I manage it every single day!
I agree OP. There’s definitely an underlying (but very clear!) message there.

I don’t think the underlying message is clear, as it’s not clear to me! I took from this that the real issue was them wanting him to give up rights to use the name Beckham on marriage. I’m not even sure how you would make that an enforceable ban, in legal terms, unless they paid him off to do so. Even then I’m not too sure it would work.

Secondtonaan · 20/01/2026 17:28

Why are people commenting "who cares" on this thread! I have no interest in cats but wouldn't mention it on every Litter Tray post.

I very much agree with the OP and actually think this is news worthy, the Beckhams were one of the first families to monitorise their famiily for the social media age, they patented their names and handles at birth, trot them out for every post, use Harper to promote the make up etc. They have been instrumental in the cashing in of other influencers etc on their kids and this raises significant ethical questions.

As it says in the Guardian today, there is a price and Brooklyn just handed them the bill.

Attachment theory dicatates that he wasn't going to go off and defy his parents at 16 and become a plumber, it just wasn't on his radar and he was being told by the people he trusted that he had to go along with the whole show. Poor lad wasn't encoraged at school as, like his siblings, was endlessly being pulled out for media oppertunities. So it's no wonder he's not the brightest, none of the Beckham kids have decent qualifications despite their wealth.... I guess just not a priority for D&V.

I also thought the bit was significant about how he was having to drop everything to turn up at his parents events just so they could tag him - that's much more damaging than a dance at a wedding.

I realise the Beckhams aren't the most significant global news this week but it is interesting to see behind the facade of social media and propaganda we are being spun to flog a few eyeliners.

Reallywhatonearth · 20/01/2026 17:27

Cant see Brooklyn going down the job centre in the future. Married to a billionaire’s money. He is a talentless nepo baby with 16m followers on instagram, have gone from one rich family to an ultra rich family.

He has chosen to do all this in public for his followers and for money which is certainly something he has learnt from brand beckham. Clicks = money.

interesting what happened with Nicola when she dated the Hadid brother.

Most people do not actually know this.

I have a friend who is very into celebrities and looks up to them - she is youngish 30s and a bit naive still. She looks up to the Beckhams. She thinks their marriage is an example of success and thinks David Beckham really puts Victoria on a pedestal. When I mentioned during one conversation that there are rumours he cheats, she said she doesn't believe that, because the press would print any such stories and it would all be revealed and Rebecca loos was a one off. And even if it did happen the women involved would talk. Thinks Victoria is very independent and strong and would leave if there was any cheating. I must say I'm sometimes sceptical about these rumours myself but tend towards believing them.

It would be shocking news for those not on sites like this though.

She must be incredibly naive, not just a bit. David's cheating has been an open secret for years now, there is absolutely zero percent chance that he has ever been faithful to Victoria (except maybe in the very beginning) I actually think they would probably have been much happier if they had had a certain amount of wealth and success but not become 'Brand Beckham'. In the early days, she looked a lot healthier and he looked genuinely attracted to her, but he hasn't for years and years now. There were actually very persistent rumours a few years ago that they were on the brink of divorce, and he seemed to act very coldly towards her. That has been forgotten now with all the Netflix stuff and them being more lovey dovey, but I don't buy it for a moment. There was no way they were going to divorce until he got his knighthood, and they probably won't now anyway. That doesn't mean the marriage is based on love.

TellyOrNap · 20/01/2026 17:24

I don't think the publicity stuff or the relationship between D and V is the main issue at all. If they had been nice and welcoming to his wife I think he'd probably still be talking to them.

The thing about trying to protect the Beckham name when he was about to get married suggests they didn't even want his wife to be able to call herself Mrs Beckham and tried to legally stop her from being able to do so? MIL from hell behaviour.

You don't really believe that she designs them surely? She probably has ideas but she'll have someone else doing the designs.

Omg They are all the same

If people were that simple.

Exactly. I think some people just get off on being high handed and vicious here. Some unnecessarily nasty comments about a rich kid who, while clearly not the sharpest or most talented, is generally known to be a pretty nice kid. His parents aren't his fault. His lifestyle and upbringing wasn't his choice. And I've no doubt he loved them (then) and wanted to please but his message suggests a whole heap of resentment and pain.

Not everyone has the same personality, not everyone can decide at 16 to have what th high-handed consider a "normal" life or even has a concept of what that is. God knows I didn't. Should I have had people on a public forum slagging off my lack of wherewithall? I don't think it would have helped or changed anything. He's a young man still, he has time, I hope, to learn some lessons, get his life together and make what he wants for himself outside of the 'brand' of his parents.

Louielovecharlotte · 20/01/2026 17:21

BruFord · 20/01/2026 16:20

He has had aot of opportunities to move in famous and wealthy circles but actually his family's fame will have stopped him pursuing a normal job/life etc.

@CleverButScatty Many children of famous people have normal careers though-a couple of Gordon Ramsay’s children have chosen to do this, for example, whereas others have chosen to stay in the public eye.
Wealth gives you immense choice.

We’ve all known since 2004 that their marriage was a sham.

Most people do not actually know this.

What I don't get is what was stopping him from just quietly doing a normal job, getting an education and acting and being just a regular person. If all the trappings of celebrity and publicity etc weren't his thing.
Some celebrities have offspring who live their lives away from the spotlight, but I think BB probably has never been anything other than DB and VB's PFB.

Yeah, you're not wrong. He would've needed to be very strong willed. And he seems much more of a passive type so can see why he couldn't really break away in that fashion.

But he could've refused the money they gave him or just handed it over to a homeless person or charity. Nobody forced him to buy millions of quids worth of baseball caps?

EspressoMachiato · 20/01/2026 17:17

Their life is a business.
Lots of celebrity couples' and politicians' lives are a business.
Charles and Diana's marriage was a business arrangement.

I think their son should have kept quiet tbh.
His parents both worked hard to give him the life he has.
He's married to a billionaire's daughter thanks to their efforts.
Ungrateful nepo baby.

BillieWiper · 20/01/2026 15:30

I don't think anyone's missing the jist of what he's trying to say. It's plain as a sledgehammer to the face.

What I don't get is what was stopping him from just quietly doing a normal job, getting an education and acting and being just a regular person. If all the trappings of celebrity and publicity etc weren't his thing.

He could've just said at 16, I'm going to get an apprenticeship, I'm going to use a diff. surname to make sure there's no favouritism and I want to try and save up for my own little flat, slowly build my career and have a family with a normal young woman. But he didn't because he didn't like the idea of having to do any hard work.

Now he's cosseted by the Peltz billions, he can finally 'speak his truth' and continue to never have to do any hard work. Safe in the knowledge that if his parents cut him off financially he'll still be loaded for life.

Because we all long for our parents to love us in the way we need… Perhaps

Itcantbetrue · 20/01/2026 17:12

@somanythingssolittletime plenty of people are the offspring of famous people and they have had their childhoods protected and they get to enjoy the fruits of their parents labours.

Brokeln however has without being asked has contributed to the money pot.

Totally agree with you and not sure why the rest of the media aren’t picking up on this. Probably because Brooklyn is right and the backhand are controlling their image

he’s definetely sating there is no happy family/couple there

I think the most glaringly obvious thing from his post is he didn’t write it. I suppose when you marry into a family with money you can afford the best PR.

Oh come on it was clunky - and grammatical errors - can’t see anyone else wrote it

Itcantbetrue · 20/01/2026 17:09

Er the point that I made in the opening post ? That the subtext of his statement is that they are not a couple !!

One thing we can hope is that BB is going to make damn certain if he and his wife have children they will be protecting their privacy from the day they are born until adulthood. Let's hope ....

ExtraOnions · 20/01/2026 17:09

Over-privileged Nepo baby, boo-hooing about being forced to be a brand, whilst trading on being a brand. He’s hopeless at every career. I also don’t have any time for his parents .

This is what happens when you have too much time, too much money, surround yourself with people who after with you, and your lift doesn’t go all the way up to the top.

Speaking of celeb offspring whatever happened to Callum Best ? Another nepo baby with a very pushy mum. Couldn't open a paper once without being asked to admire his biceps. Did he take up a trade?

he's chair or manager something of Dorking Wonderers football team. He did a really interesting interview with Rylan for his finding love series. Worth listening to for both of their thoughts

I thought the same OP. ‘Inauthentic relationships’ is the most telling line IMHO.

I took this to mean a sham marriage, just for show.
