To think people are missing the main point that Brooklyn Beckham is trying to reveal ?

Firstly I know the goings on of this family are not important news and there are more important things to worry about in the world .
But I’m finding it surprising that people are fixating on things like the wedding dress and the dancing . There are a couple of points in his statements when he is clearly saying what I have always believed- that David and Victoria are not a couple as they like to portray . I’ve always thought David’s disdain of her is quite obvious in the way he talks to her and that she appears lost and soulless but intent on preserving the brand .
BB says “ 'The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
Then - “ media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.'”

To me it seems obvious what he is hinting at ?

Oh come on it was clunky - and grammatical errors - can’t see anyone else wrote it

Look at the rest of his instagram and the way he writes is a totally different style. He uses different vocabulary and it just doesn’t match what was written in that post. I’m not saying that someone took over his instagram and physically typed it for him but he definitely had some help, he talks about his parents and their team so why wouldn’t he have his own team with all the money his in-laws have?

He has had aot of opportunities to move in famous and wealthy circles but actually his family's fame will have stopped him pursuing a normal job/life etc.

@CleverButScatty Many children of famous people have normal careers though-a couple of Gordon Ramsay’s children have chosen to do this, for example, whereas others have chosen to stay in the public eye.
Wealth gives you immense choice.

Gordon Ramsay made his children stand on their own two feet though. He was very vocal at one point that though they grew up with privileges cos of his hard work and wealth, they wouldn't be living off him forever. One famous example being him flying first class and leaving them in coach. He said he worked his arse off for years before he could afford first class. Some people applauded him and some ripped him apart.
I had a friend who worked for him and said he seems a really decent down to earth guy, despite his on screen persona.

😂 You’re right.

Brooklyn didn’t know him when he was building his fortune and probably has no idea how tough his FIL is (his daughter is unlikely to either).

Do we want to dwell a moment on how tough DB is? A very competitive man - with enough stories rumbling around over the years about how controlling he is, how dogged, and so on.

He is like the royal men - hiding behind wifey.

In this case she gladly walks out front. In her silk nighty. That she wears to weddings...

I don’t think he’s hinting that David and Victoria are not a proper couple. He’s saying they’re putting on a fake face for social media and that their supposed friendships with others are often inauthentic. Which I would have thought was already pretty obvious to many of us. If he thinks his parents’ marriage is a total sham then why wouldn’t he just say so?

I wouldn't come out and say so. This statement is a threat - leave me alone or else. More info is the "or else".

silverwrath · 20/01/2026 18:19

'Firstly I know the goings on of this family are not important news and there are more important things to worry about in the world.'

Despite this you felt the need to make yet another thread about this bunch of fucking dullards. Who for some bizarre reason are incredibly rich. And now venerated. By Parliament no less.

Humanity is lost.

People are both acknowledging that there is a lot of misinformation being spread. No one knows these people or what happened.

Anyone speaking confidently about what they know don’t have any insider knowledge other than a lot of gossip. Most of which is being spread by people who have no idea themselves. The tabloids don’t have any insider knowledge they are feeding off hangers on who are making stuff up.

AlliWantIsARoomSomewheeeere · 20/01/2026 18:13

Who knows what the real truth is, but what the reactions show, is that kids born into wealth will always be called "spoilt lil rich kids" if they dare complain about anything! (or something else along those lines). As if they aren't allowed any other problems. Yeah, maybe if your family are quietly rich it would be pretty great, but growing up in the public eye type rich, no thanks. I can't think of anything worse than having the live like that always on show and having to be "on brand". I thought the same about Harry though, I know many Brits LOVE our royals, but can't see how anyone with an ounce of comprehension about what being in the Royal Family would be like in reality, could be jealous. Wealth buys a lot of comfort and positives, but it doesn't wipe out growing up with image obsessed parents!!

I don't think anyone's missing the jist of what he's trying to say. It's plain as a sledgehammer to the face.

What I don't get is what was stopping him from just quietly doing a normal job, getting an education and acting and being just a regular person. If all the trappings of celebrity and publicity etc weren't his thing.

He could've just said at 16, I'm going to get an apprenticeship, I'm going to use a diff. surname to make sure there's no favouritism and I want to try and save up for my own little flat, slowly build my career and have a family with a normal young woman. But he didn't because he didn't like the idea of having to do any hard work.

Now he's cosseted by the Peltz billions, he can finally 'speak his truth' and continue to never have to do any hard work. Safe in the knowledge that if his parents cut him off financially he'll still be loaded for life.

It sounds like the culture of the family is that everything is about the brand -there is no family without brand.

I take that to include any jobs/careers/ relationships/ future or even hopes that any one of the teens have needs to fit with the brand. And all of it has to be public - otherwise there is no brand.

He describes a rather intolerant home life.

And it seems to be, that he has stepped out of the painting, and is now looking at it for perhaps the first time.

He says he has been trying to resolve things in private, but his family will not leave his partner alone - planting stories about her etc.

He would recognize their handiwork, having grown up with it.

All of that stands only if he is telling the truth...

He comes across as sad, but also with some courage.

Bangolads · 20/01/2026 18:13

Have you really thought about this that much? I don’t know the ins and outs of my best friend’s marriage and foibles in their relationship - let alone a couple I’ve never met. You need to get out more.

Hopingforaholiday · 20/01/2026 18:10

The wedding/selling photos to press was hugely grown breaking of its time. I can remember my dad who had zero interest in celebrity gossip looking at my copy of ok magazine, even blokes in pubs were joking about thrones.
The family were then photographed to an extent other celebrities hadn’t done before. They have been a brand for nearly 30 years.

25flyby · 20/01/2026 18:09

Thistooshallpass. · 20/01/2026 15:11

Er the point that I made in the opening post ? That the subtext of his statement is that they are not a couple !!

No, that’s not the main point.
The main point was their control.
V and D’s relationship or lack off is YOUR main point of interest.

Couples pretending to be together are fine a dozen, especially rich ones with loads invested.
Much more interesting to understand the dynamics of non contact children especially ones that appeared to be in strong family units.

BruFord · 20/01/2026 18:07

EspressoMachiato · 20/01/2026 17:45

Exactly. David's a pussycat compared to the FIL - a ruthless business mogul who eats people like the Beckhams as an amuse-guele.

😂 You’re right.

Brooklyn didn’t know him when he was building his fortune and probably has no idea how tough his FIL is (his daughter is unlikely to either).

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/01/2026 18:06

Gahr · 20/01/2026 17:40

His in-laws are extremely tough, I wouldn't want to go up against them if I was David and Victoria. They are far wealthier than the Beckhams and Nelson is known as an extremely tough customer, a sort of Philip Green on steroids.

I think Brooklyn has escaped from the frying pan into a VERY big fire. I’m no fan of his but I hope it works out for him.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 20/01/2026 18:05

I don't have any opinions on the bekhams, have never read about them or watched documentaries etc. I'm not sure if what he is saying is true. But if it is true, I think people are being really harsh when they say

  • (sarcastic) "poor BB with his millions". Like being rich somehow negates having shitty parents who fucked you up. There is a lot of support on here for the stately homes thread, Disney dad threads etc that suggest that throwing money and status related things at kids doesn't make up for lack of emotional care. He is perfectly entitled to be upset at his upbringing even if it was privileged on paper, if what he is saying is true
  • he should have left / dospwned them at 16 if he was that bothered. What 16 year old especially in that environment is going to have the ability to recognise how damaging their upbringing was and leave home, change their name, get a job etc
  • he could have just stayed silent and faded into the background. There are stories every single day in the press about how horrible he is to have cut off his family, ignored his dad's birthday etc etc. Everything he I don't think anyone would like everything they do responded to with a 'call your mother / you only get one family' comment.

There are a lot of posts basically seeming to accept that its true but somehow also blaming him for it. Which doesn't seem very fair.

Mags1001 · 20/01/2026 18:03

I Haven't followed it but bb fell out with his mother because they don't like his bride.
Didn't Harry fall out with his family because they didn't like his bride too.
Give them 10 years and it will blow over.

GRCP · 20/01/2026 18:01

@TellyOrNapOMG yes!!!

GRCP · 20/01/2026 18:00

@Lollylavenderthe Netflix docs made them very popular - they painted them in a very down to Earth, good humoured light. Also DB queuing to see the queen, there’s loads of stuff.

Lollylavender · 20/01/2026 17:50

Does anyone ‘like’ them? What’s likeable about a nouveau riche footballer and a ex pop band singer? Genuinely?

I was born in the early 90's and they're just posh and becks to a generation. A spice girl and a no.1 footballer. My sister quite a bit younger than me doesn't really care.
Anyone remember when David broke his foot and it was front page news and yuri geller made everyone touch the telly at once to pray for it? Good times.

Firdbeeder · 20/01/2026 17:52

Well, if that’s what he’s getting at then good luck to him trying to keep the press out of his business as he goes through life

Itcantbetrue · 20/01/2026 17:51

I think the Beckham's move in circles to this similar to themselves.
I think intellectually nelson is in a different league and far tougher and more shrewd

The Beckham's probably found it hard because it was their first child and the first one to get married

Lollylavender · 20/01/2026 17:50

Woodenwonder · 20/01/2026 17:39

And ultimately it doesn't really matter, it will blow over for the general public within days. People who like them will continue to and I suspect Brooklyn knows that, he's not trying to do a hatchet job I don't think he's just trying to clearly draw his line in the sand.

I think the “inauthentic relationships” part was a warning shot to his parents - leave me and my wife alone, pack it in now or I’ll spill the lot!

I agree! It’s all about preserving the ‘brand’
