To think people are missing the main point that Brooklyn Beckham is trying to reveal ?

Firstly I know the goings on of this family are not important news and there are more important things to worry about in the world .
But I’m finding it surprising that people are fixating on things like the wedding dress and the dancing . There are a couple of points in his statements when he is clearly saying what I have always believed- that David and Victoria are not a couple as they like to portray . I’ve always thought David’s disdain of her is quite obvious in the way he talks to her and that she appears lost and soulless but intent on preserving the brand .
BB says “ 'The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
Then - “ media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.'”

To me it seems obvious what he is hinting at ?

I don’t know what anybody else thinks, but I thought David’s “quest for the knighthood” was embarrassing.
Every time I saw him sidling-up to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth or King Charles or Prince William or just always THERE in the shadows - I cringed.
I was relieved when he finally was knighted because the whole charade was finally over.
No more painful “David Beckham with the royal family” episodes.
And honestly, I haven’t seen him with them since.
Now this.

No I haven’t given it that much thought .. it was just something that interested me as I thought the press hadn’t really looked at that angle .
Thankfully I get out plenty - just been to the gym and now going out for dinner - so I don’t feel the need to be nasty to strangers on the internet !

And it IS quite interesting. I think so anyway. And we the public are involved to an extent because they sold us this great family image to make money from us.

Many of us on MN have voiced the idea that their relationship is performative - on his part anyway. I am not sure about her. His treatment of her seems appalling to me.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not saying all long marriages are fake and I'm certainly not saying its something to aspire to. I'm not married, but I'd far rather be single than in a bad long-term relationship.

I'm just pointing out there are plenty of people who are just ticking over in their marriages. But people seem surprised when it happens to people who are famous. When in fact I would say if you're worth billions and recognisable across the world it's if anything much easier to cheat.

Oh yes for sure. I find it a bit odd with the Beckhams though that they continually try to portray themselves as "being in love" on social media when it's blatantly obvious they are anything but. They both have more than enough wealth to survive and thrive on their own so I find their continued clinging to the narrative that they are in love a bit odd.

It's far easier to separate if you have millions in the bank which is why I find it strange. Most people stay in unhappy relationships because they can't afford to leave- that's absolutely not the case with them.

One thing that I think is the most interesting in this - he doesn’t seem to want to be famous. He’s happy with his rich wife and doing their own thing. He’s given up trying to become famous in his own right, he’s not doing his cooking or photography or anything else like this. He’s just quietly living a wealthy life.

And he’s not sold this story. He’s not monetised his family split. He’s not done a celeb interview or spoken out on a platform that would pay him. He’s not talked to a journalist or written a book.

We only know about the drama because the Beckhams can’t just be quiet. We only know he wasn’t as various special occasions because they stuck those private moments all over social media for the brand.

Someone needs to tell Victoria and David to shush. He’s got his knighthood now, the several years long campaign worked. He can ease off and perhaps if they didnt drag their other children to photocalls it wouldn’t be noticeable who’s not there.

I agree. He’s just fed up and sad. No big interview or money maker. He’s just done with it all. I actually respect him a bit more and feel sorry for him.

I disagree. I have been married 21 years. Does my husband sometimes irritate the fuck out of me?- yes of course he does but neither of us have ever cheated and both of us have had the opportunity to do so. He is my ride or die, and my best friend and I still think he's gorgeous. Our relationship is due to us wanting to be with each other rather than due to the fact we have a "brand" together. Both of us have our own independent businesses and could survive alone if we wanted to, but we dont want that.

Personally, I think a sham marriage is far more tragic and lonely than being single. I would far rather be rich and single and shag whom I want than be in a relationship with a rich man who clearly gives zero fucks about me.

I think the most glaringly obvious thing from his post is he didn’t write it. I suppose when you marry into a family with money you can afford the best PR.

That’s the very first thing I noticed, @xanthomelana— well said.

He told the Peltz media team what he wanted to say and they formulated this post for him.
And maybe they even did a bit of ad libbing on their own.

OP, this isn't a hard-hitting bit of journalism revealing some important truth about a major international situation that we should all pore over.

This is a nepo baby complaining about his diamond shoes being too tight.

Anyone who glances at it is just looking for details that amuse them.

This.

Inauthentic to him could just not be ‘loves young dream’, but a couple that have stayed together in whatever format because they chose to.

sunflowersheart · 20/01/2026 19:55

Thepeopleversuswork · 20/01/2026 19:31

What is a "solid couple" though? It's not uncommon for people who have been married for 20+ years to no longer fancy each other much, to have affairs and to basically stay for the kids/the money/the perks/the infrastructure of the marriage. They "make it work" for whatever reason and are content enough to stay.

Obviously the Beckhams have a lot more at stake, financially and reputationally, than Joe and Rita from number 22. But I'm not sure they are that different.

I always find it bizarre when people are surprised that a celebrity marriage or family implodes. Just under half of all marriages in the UK fail. If you've got two independently very wealthy people who have people throwing themselves at them and a smorgasbord of social options it shouldn't be that surprising.

I think we ALL know the unspoken truth though?

David Beckham had at least one affair and it has never been admitted. Its an open secret no?

For anyone comparing with the perfect Ramsay clan, Tana Ramsays dad had a secret family.

Birds of a feather flock together.

Didn't Gordon have a seven year affair which became public, not to mention in 1993 when he and two other men were cautioned for gross indecency in a train station toilet, which he tried to brush off as "high jinks" with a couple of male friends Hmm.

AintNoKristine · 20/01/2026 19:51

So Brooklyn Beckham has gone the full Prince Harry by trashing his family in the most public way possible, despite claiming that what he really craves is privacy. This is always a big mistake. In a few years' time, after the inevitable divorce, he'll have to go crawling back to Mummy and Daddy and beg them to reinstate his allowance so that he can continue to live the celebrity lifestyle that he's always known and loved. He obviously has no special talents, so like Harry, when all the dirt has finally been dished, he'll have nothing left to fall back on. My sympathies are entirely with David and Victoria. No marriage is ever perfect, all families are complicated and bringing up kids is hard, even - and perhaps especially - when you are blessed with great wealth and your ungrateful children have never needed to occupy themselves with life's everyday problems. Brooklyn has enjoyed the spoils and now he's well and truly shot himself in the foot. And it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke!

Not quite sure why you hate him so much?
No marriage is ever perfect
Sadly true, but a string of affairs is more than a “not perfect marriage.” If the parents chose not to divorce and that choice meant their children were forced to stay silent, tolerate their father’s infidelity and actively help maintain the illusion of a close, happy family, then that decision prevented a genuinely happy and relaxed upbringing. So the image of a happy and tight family was worth more than the real experience of one. Expecting children to participate in such a pretence is, at best, damaging and, at worst, emotionally abusive.

CarminaBiryani · 20/01/2026 19:51

There's an interview by Davod Beckham, he's not talking directly about it, but talks about allowing children to make mistakes on social media. I think he's handled it quite gracefully. Not attacking or denying. Not fueling any backlash.

Obviously still a total misogynist for Rebecca Loos affair.

Also Brooklyns not a child, but your children are still your children even when they are grown up.

He's always seemed a bit lost to me.
First trying to be a footballer, then a photographer, then a chef...
I can well believe that all those "jobs" were pushed by Brand Beckham.
He doesn't seem to have had natural talent in any of those areas.
I think in pushing his failed "jobs" V&DB have held him up to ridicule in the press/SM over the years.
Hard to take as young person.

@Raven08 He does seem to genuinely like cooking as he’s still doing it.

If he wants to be taken more seriously, getting some formal training wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Netcurtainnelly · 20/01/2026 19:48

I expect the Beckham's are hoping that Harper will get with Prince George.
Best thing they can do now is stop putting Harper in her nighties and leave her out of the social media.

Up to a point. Stella and Mary have certainly ploughed their own furrow and they seem reasonably grounded and resilient.

But no door in the world would ever be closed to the children of a Beatle. I know nothing about fashion so not really in a position to judge whether she's genuinely talented or not, but you can bet that the mentorship and support and connections they would have got would have ironed every kink and sorted every problem, one way or the other. You still need to work hard and be committed, but you're not having to push too hard against the system are you?

And didn't the son (James?) turn into a bit of a fuck-up?

I believe James made a couple of albums that were pretty good? The Beatles connection won"t make you a rock star though because there has to be a big audience buying the stuff for that, the days of a band like The Beatles coming through are long long gone in the rear-view mirror (do we still have them or is it AI now?)
In fact the Beatles were a one-off really, and they were very heavily promoted back in the day by the BBC I heard, to the point of ignoring other artists, I know a few people (most are musicians) who don"t like or rate The Beatles and never listen to them, I knew someone many years ago who used to teach guitar and play pubs/clubs, one time they were doing early Beatles stuff in their set and he said that learning the songs and chords wasn"t difficult but the thing was the vocal harmonies, no one could touch or properly replicate what the Fab Four did with the vocals he said.

Agree. He may not have chosen it but has willingly used his name and parentage more than once to open doors and grease wheels. His photography would not have been published on its own merits, for example. I doubt he would ever have met his wife, let alone married her, without being a nepo baby. If he really meant any of what has been published in his name it would not be all over the media but private. The public nature is afar more aggressive stance towards his family and their “work”. He is vying for media space with likes of Prince Harry but frankly who cares about what is fundamentally a domestic dispute over a vacuous brand and the way they chose to raise their dc,

Yes but I doubt lee who works in Aldi would have met and married Sharon who works in Aldi, if they hadn’t both worked in Aldi?

Thepeopleversuswork · 20/01/2026 19:31

sunflowersheart · 20/01/2026 19:20

Really? I am genuinely shocked people think they are a solid couple. It's very well known in many social circles that they sleep in separate beds and David in particular will shag anyone he likes (check out reddit for this) and they have an open marriage. His body language alone around Victoria is pretty obvious that he despises her, it's really quite sad.

What is a "solid couple" though? Headlines? Why on Earth would the Beckhams want headlines saying they ruined his childhood, his mum danced with him in an inappropriate manner at his wedding, his dad only wanted to reconcile if it was for the cameras and their marriage is fake?

Good point, as I said I don"t follow them very closely, didn"t someone once say that no publicity is bad publicity?
I doubt many younger people would have serious interest in DB and VB now, BUT many would be interested in their model handsome son"s "anxieties" about his upbringing? It is just PR and business moves we are seeing here, it always saddens me that the public get obsessed with the celebrity thing, it is the money that attracts interest because most people know they will never have that.

Ridiculous - most families want to sit together - didn’t he want to sit and travel with his children? How off making so
petty point - loads of parents work hard

if he didn’t want them to have the luxury they could of sat together in economy - look at the money he splashed on that recent wedding!!! No similar reasoning used there

did you know? Parents spend their income on kids

Exactly!! Thank you, you made my point better than I did. Also, a couple of his kids are very small. Did he stick them in coach with the 'staff'? What about Tana? Obnoxious wee man he is.

Gahr · 20/01/2026 19:28

Itcantbetrue · 20/01/2026 19:25

@Gahr he may leave them in coach on planes but they are not living in coach jn his London houses /Cornwall etc and where ever else...they lead incredibly privileged lives for the occasional indignity of being on coach !

I should hope not, after all he chose to have them. I don't have a problem with kids of wealthy people having comfortable lives. I do object to them being constantly pushed into the public eye. And Hollie is a particularly boring influencer and seems quite obnoxious, so I wouldn't say her flying coach has made her down to earth!

Couldn’t agree more. All 4 children have been used to promote brand Beckham. Harper is a 14 year old girl ffs. Many ‘A’ listers go to great lengths to keep their children out of the public eye, I wouldn’t even know their names, let alone faces.

I was just pondering that Pail and Linda McCartney had done well in bringing up their children, when I realised that they weren’t a brand in the same way. The music is - that is the product.

But they still did well as the ch who are exceptionally rich and would never need to work do seem semi normal and happy .

Up to a point. Stella and Mary have certainly ploughed their own furrow and they seem reasonably grounded and resilient.

"To me it seems obvious what he is hinting at ?"

Yes, or he could just be working for the "brand" by getting them headlines?

I always thought they were an actual real loving couple but I don"t really pay too much attention to them so might have missed something.

As I said in another post if he doesn"t like how they choose to conduct themselves he could go "off grid" somewhere and live quite happily?

For me the need to still be in the media at their age and wealth level is the most disturbing aspect, they make money from it but they also seem to actually enjoy all the photographers etc. or is that just a part of the "job" if you want the income stream to continue?

I suppose the problem with going too far off the beaten track or hiding out in some less developed country for someone like BB is the kidnap risk?

Headlines? Why on Earth would the Beckhams want headlines saying they ruined his childhood, his mum danced with him in an inappropriate manner at his wedding, his dad only wanted to reconcile if it was for the cameras and their marriage is fake?
