Aibu to feel humiliated by this

So my DH had a peloton ride today. When he finished he went upstairs (very sweaty) and sat on the ensuite toilet seat to "cool down a bit", had a shower then came downstairs and sat and had his lunch. While he was eating I took some clean clothes upstairs to put away. Part way through I needed the loo so went to use the toilet. I sat down and the seat was wet. I very quickly realised I was sitting in DH's sweat! 🤮

I feel pretty disgusted by this and we ended up having a big row over it. I feel justified in being upset but not sure if I'm making a bigger thing out of it than is necessary. Not sure what I'm asking, I think I just needed to vent. I'd appreciate some perspective.

Why humiliated? Was a crowd of people watching you? Was it done in public and on purpose? It’s a bit icky but it wasn’t humiliating.

Mlk8 · 17/01/2026 17:23

It's your husband's sweat.. he's depositted worse in you. You act like his sweat was never on your skin. You humiliated him.

a man who doesn’t sweat you say? That’s not the win you might think…

I know this is not in keeping with the seriousness of the thread......but I have creased myself laughing at this .
Obviously I clench so as not to embarrass myself !

CoastalCalm · 17/01/2026 17:19

Offended / repulsed yep , humiliated nope

MaggieBsBoat · 17/01/2026 17:14

I honestly think that the OP doesn’t know what humiliated means. Or accidentally typed the wrong word. Or she needs some serious therapy.

honeyb3 · 17/01/2026 17:13

Try dating Prince Andrew.

Joking aside this is a bit grim but nothing to feel humiliated about. A quick ‘don’t do that again love’ would do it. Not sure it warranted a row. Chill.

Pancakeflipper · 17/01/2026 17:10

Humiliated?
Nah, not humiliation. But it is grim and he should have wiped it down.

Growlybear83 · 17/01/2026 17:10

Why on Earth would you feel humiliated by sitting on a bit of your husband’s sweat or be disgusted by it? It’s a bit yucky of him not to have wiped the seat down, but your reaction is ridiculous. He’s your husband - have you never come into contact with his bodily fluids and excretions before?

babyproblems · 17/01/2026 17:10

Why are you feeling humiliated..??
I can’t see the link tbh at all.
Im guessing you don’t have kids or there would be much more serious things to ‘have a big row’ about 😂

Am I the only one who wouldn't find this gross 🤣🙈 my DPs sweat doesn't bother me in the slightest and he has a sweaty job too

If you are attracted to your partner their sweat can be quite sexy. Maybe not so much on a toilet seat lol but sweaty sexy man hmmm.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2026 17:08

Was it sweat or did he pee on the seat

how do you cope with sex if he’s on top and he might drop a few beads of sweat on you

humiliated def ott !!

gross a little but not enough to have a massive row over

Miranda65 · 17/01/2026 17:06

Oh come on, OP, it's quite funny..... just make a joke of it. Why on earth would you start "a big row" about something so trivial?

OneShyQuail · 17/01/2026 17:05

Maybe saying humiliated was a bit ott but in that moment when I realised why it was wet it felt pretty humiliating!

That’s quite a strange reaction to sweat. Yes it’s gross but it’s not piss or shit. You must have mingled with his sweat many a time before (still a bit gross but hey, that’s sex for you).

I would have just said (for fuck’s sake) clean your sweat off the seat in future, I don’t want to sit in somebody else’s rank sweat thank you very much!

Then got on with my day.

Poppinjay · 17/01/2026 16:59

Did you overreact and lay into him immediately, which would BU, or did you let him know camly and politely that it was an unpleasant experience and ask him to clean up after himself in future?

If the row was a result of him overreacting to the latter, YANBU and he is a dick.

usedtobeaylis · 17/01/2026 16:58

Him not cleaning up after his own sweaty arse is definitely worth pulling him up about.

I don't understand why you said humiliated though. Did you mean another word. i would have been irritated, cross, disgusted - but not humiliated. Unless there is a back story.

ThisBoldFinch · 17/01/2026 16:19

LTB, ducks in a row

🤣

SingedSoul · 17/01/2026 16:51

Is this a windup? He was sweaty sat down on the loo and didn't realise he had left sweat on it. It definitely doesn't show a lack of respect, it wasn't deliberate and now you feel humiliated in front of your husband who is the sweaty party, why? Then you have an almighty row about his accidental sweat, annoying yes, row worthy, no. Is there something else going on between you? If not it all sounds a bit neurotic.

MTOandMe · 17/01/2026 16:46

Well, if this is all you have to have a ‘big row’ over then I’d say you’re winning at life.

This is perhaps the biggest none event I have seen posted about on Mumsnet in a long while. I suggest you learn the definition of ‘humiliated’, apologise to your husband for having had your emotions go rogue, tell him to wipe his sweat up next time then move on with your day.

Retailrookie · 17/01/2026 16:45

Does he not sweat all over you at other times 🤣🙈
Wash it off, job done

redwinecheeseandothersnacks · 17/01/2026 16:42

Are you sure you mean humiliated. I think your DH might have felt a bit humiliated..do you never make mistakes OP?

beasmithwentworth · 17/01/2026 16:40

Unless there is a huge backstory here then I think you massively overacted. If this is genuinely a big deal to you amidst all of the rest of the things going on in your life then I’ll admit to being jealous. I want your life.

RJ2023 · 17/01/2026 16:39

A question to you, Ionbroo, do you worry about the power and water you are using to be a large language AI model? You are also grabbing the entire suppy of the World's RAM which as a PC computer gamer makes me very sad.

Comedycook · 17/01/2026 16:35

Humiliated is an odd response...maybe a bit grossed out if you're a particularly hygienic person? I mean he's your husband, not a stranger so I presume at some point you have had contact with his bodily fluids.
