finally see the light about Farage? As the article says, if he will do this for £98 without thinking or a few seconds of research, what else is he capable of? The man is, IMHO, amoral, greedy and surprisingly stupid.

Tw: this mentions the hideous crimes of Watkins.

Nigel Farage ‘tricked into paying tribute to Ian Watkins’

It cost £98 for The Reform UK leader to film the clip on his Cameo account

I said she isn't English.
She isn't English

This is based on the government ethnicity definitions in use for over 40 years and agreed with ethnic groups other than the English Scots Irish and Welsh in the country. These definitions were introduced for the benefit of immigrant groups.

https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.service.gov.uk/style-guide/ethnic-groups/

Do you think she ticked the white English box?

Do the white English exist as an ethnic group in your opinion? Do you consider these government definitions are a wind up?

At no point have I ever said she isn't British. Anyone from anywhere in the world, even people like the Egyptian criminal that hates white people and had never been to Britain in his 40 odd years of life until 26th December 2026 can be British.

Ypu said they couldn’t find anyone English. Which suggests you don’t think anyone of any other ‘ethnicity’ (the ethnicity definition you are quoting doesn’t quite say what you think) or even someone Welsh, Scottish or from NI should be British PM. That’s quite racist.

What are those u turns please? When I’ve seen lists they’ve been policy tweaks before implementation. That’s the way politics is supposed to work.

Farage and Zack Polanski are both equally awful. I don't agree with Starmer's politics(not sure he even does) but I don't dislike him quite as much as them. I like Badenoch.

No they aren't

Nope I didn't say that, you were suggesting that anyone whose parents had been in the war couldn't possibly vote reform - or saying you couldn't understand how they could. I am giving you an example to show that it's not as black and white as that. It's not an "all" I am in no way saying my parents represent everyone.

Nothing was real then you know what I mean

Which party has no scandals over money and fundraising?

Sir Keir declared accepting donations from Lord Alli in the register of MPs' interests, including accommodation worth more than £20,000.
The prime minister also stayed at his pendthouse during lockdaown though he said this was to support his son during his GCSE exams.
Lord Alli has also made donations worth more than £32,000 for clothing and spectacles to Sir Keir and his wife.

Morgan McSweeney Labour Together Donations (2020-2025): Think tank Labour Together received large donations (around £740,000) that were not declared before Keir Starmer's leadership win, leading to an Electoral Commission fine in 2021, with recent leaks reigniting questions about potential misleading of the commission.

"Contracts for Donors" Allegations (2025): An Autonomy Institute report suggested companies donating to Labour won substantial government contracts, drawing parallels to issues under previous administrations.

The Liberal Democrats
The party line on trans issues “has been consistent for at least 5 years” i.e very opposed to women's rights. The party has also accepted donations of £1.4mn from Ferring Pharmaceuticals (makers of puberty blockers) since 2013.
- are they being paid to promote/simplify gender transition to the financial benefit of big pharma?

I am not a reform supporter, can’t stand Farage but I’ll still vote for them if they are the only conservative option with a chance of getting Labour out. And no, to answer your question, articles like this will not change my mind. I already know he’s an idiot, a chancer and most probably a racist, but I would still be willing to take a chance on the party as a whole rather than have another 4 years of Labour as I still believe that, at this point in time, a Reform government would be more beneficial/less detrimental than Labour to both my family personally and the UK as a whole. We need tax reform, benefits reform and immigration reform, the current system is unsustainable and Labour is making it worse by the day.

Does what's happening in America change your mind? Because what terrifies me is that no-one really believed Trump would do this and he has. Not even just the ICE stuff but the states seriously discussing the death penalty for abortion, people with close links the the leadership proposing one vote per household (the man).

Farage has explicitly said he doesn't agree with the current abortion limit, he's exploring said he wants an American model of health care where hundreds of thousands of people go bankrupt for medical bills each year, he's explicitly said he thinks Putin is admirable.

Normally I feel like you can survive the next 5 years of parliament and hope for better next time but I'm not sure the American people are going to get a next time.

So because your grandparents were racist as they couldn't stand diversity, everybody's grandparents in the same circumstances must have been racist, that doesn't even make any logical sense.

And Hitler was also an incredible communicator. What’s your point?

It is easy to communicate a negative message, one that almost entirely feeds on negativity and fear.

It's another to have to come up with solutions, budgets and strategies. Farage never does that. When he has to tell people that their taxes are going up to do the things he plans people will begin to notice that 'incredible communication' is all he can offer.

BoredZelda · 16/01/2026 18:23

JamesClyman · 16/01/2026 10:31

You may not like him. I don't. But his communications abilities dwarf those of the two "main" parties - altho' in Labour's case that is not a very high bar.

And Hitler was also an incredible communicator. What’s your point?

Yes, and I also hear tractor production is up. 🙄

Postponing for a short time for sensible reasons is…well…sensible

Why do you have a problem with the above statement @Vinvertebrate ?

2,186 local elections were cancelled when the Tories were in charge for a very sensible reason.

It’s not cancellation, it’s postponement to save time and money and because turnout at local elections is always poor but having two elections in quick succession would mean it would be even worse. It’s postponement until the council is reorganised and is requested by the council not enforced by the government. Cancelling elections is bad. Postponing for a short time for sensible reasons is…well…sensible.

The fact he comes across as an idiot, liar, chancer and racist, but some of those apply to most politicians. I was, and still am, very much anti Brexit but I don’t hold that against him, people voted how they did and we got what we deserved on that. Regardless of who is in power it will be near impossible to turn back the clock on that anyway.

Thank you for your honest reply.

How can you trust a party full of Turncoats- surely a huge question mark over them having the courage of their convictions?

ColdOut2025 · 16/01/2026 17:06

cardibach · 16/01/2026 16:20

Because he does this one thing wothout due care (and I agree he should have - but there’s been a change since) you don’t trust anything he says? And you trust someone you know for a fact will lie for £98 more? I don’t understand how that works.

ChurchWindows · 16/01/2026 16:38

Does Farage have good communication skills though?

His communication skills rely on him hammering home the same message over and over again, without nuance, without changing his method to appeal to different listeners, without subtlety.

Whatever his message I wouldn't find him appealing. He has a beef faced, hectoring, relentless quality that is common in people with no empathy, a mean spirit, no view of a broader picture and a complete dismissal of people he thinks of as lesser/other. His message does not appeal to people who dislike that kind of brute faced 'he says it how he is' stance.

MsJinks · 16/01/2026 16:35

ColdOut2025 · 16/01/2026 16:17

Starmer welcomed an anti white, anti semite into the country for free; i don't think Farage will get everything done he says, and dobt particularly trust him,but i think he believes what he says more often than ks.

Yes indeed, totally backed his own words in Jenrick as a recent example.
Also fairly recently he must have believed he knew Ian Watkins and he was a good guy - oops sorry tricked.
He believed in our fishing industry but couldn’t plan anything or even turn up at the relevant EU fisheries committees.
He believed in Brexit - a Norwegian style one, a great deal one, a no deal one - anyway we got the ‘wrong’ one he believes that.
I do agree he is genuinely racist but this is the bit he actually tries to play down instead of stating clearly.
Doesn’t matter how hard he believes in stopping immigration completely, well not all of it now he says - or in stopping the small boats, well again not that easy he says now - he is incapable of actually doing so, and this video just reiterated to me that he’s barely capable of doing anything properly, even a small time grift.

Also appalling, what’s your point?

Cancelling elections should not be within the gift of a government of any colour.

KindOpalBalonz · 16/01/2026 16:31

What I don't understand is why people go on about polling. Yes right now Reform are polling well. But at national level Labour has a majority of about 160MPs. The only way to force a General Election is for the opposition to propose and win a vote of no confidence. For that to happen, All the opposition party MPs of every 'flavour" plus about 80 Labour MPs would have to vote for the motion. If as everyone on here says Labour will be trounced and out of office, are many Labour MPs really going to vote themselves out of a job?? Botton line Reform have to keep up momentum for about another three and a half years and I don't think they will be able to.

I wouldn’t vote Reform, but let’s face it, previous Tory governments have been awful, and this lot in power are dreadful. 🤷‍♀️

But, Reform will win the next election I’d imagine.

Farage has said if Reform win in Wales and Scotland, then they will win a GE.

It is not looking good for Reform right now. Farage seems to be struggling to find candidates.

It doesn’t help that this story seems to be completely ignored by most of the media, including the BBC. You’d expect constant coverage, it would have ruined pretty much any other politician. Ditto the story about the former UKIP MEP being convicted of taking bribes from Russia… Where did that story even get reported? It’s just insane. He clearly has the right connections and will likely win the next GE as a result.

This story gets played off as being the silly mistakes of a teenager, as if we were all massive racists as teens who told Jews they should have been gassed ffs. He enrages me.

Good one. Next you’ll be telling me that the deputy mayor of Basildon really was doing wrist exercises for her carpal tunnel syndrome.

21 out of 29 councils requesting a delay are Labour. Thank goodness most people are not as credulous as the government seems to think.

And what about these ones that postponed under a Tory government? Why was that?
