The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

I also grew up near TV studios and our school were picked to be the audience on a kids TV show. I sat next to the drummer of the band The Railway Children and I had my hand up for a question but the presenter never chose me despite the drummer trying to get them to.

It wasn’t even my question, we were randomly given the questions to ask.

I am clearly visible in the background of several scenes of an episode of Streetmate from 2000.

My friends and I had no idea who Davina McCall was (don't think she was all that famous then?) but we spotted the cameras and it was clearly something being filmed for TV...so we followed them all around the City centre for about six hours and made it into many takes 😂

A recording of me asking a question at a public meeting, after a newsworthy event in my city, was used on ‘The World at One’ on R4. I was driving at the time and was gobsmacked to hear my own voice on the radio!

When growing up we used the same shop as Robbie Coltrane. He and my mum both smoked cigars at the time so they started chatting because of that. I was scared of him as I thought he was a giant.

I think I’m also some sort of distance cousin to the Cutkelvins who were on X Factor. And according to Wiki they’re distant cousins of John Lennon. So I guess I’m an even more distant cousin somehow?

My DD’s preschool used to visit the care home where Dr Heimlich of the Heimlich manoeuvre fame lived. The children did activities with the residents, so she may - or may not - have made a pasta necklace with him.

I took my dog over to meet Joe Lycett, his partner and baby and started chatting shit about dogs and babies....not realising it was Joe Lycett

My great uncle smuggled Rod Stewart out of a gig

My late FIL marked the “what I did at the weekend” entry from
a seven year old which said “ I played football with Rod Stewart in my garden” She did too! Her father was quite a famous manager at the time.

Marmaladelover · 11/01/2026 00:44

For approximately 1 second, I was in the front row at a small concert on the video of Blaze of Glory by the Alarm . And it was on Top of the Pops too!

I saw myself , it would have been too quick for anyone else to spot me .

@smallglassbottle Me too. I'm also fair-haired and unhealthy looking. Bit worrying, really.

I'd only worry if you turn orange

I briefly appeared on tv as part of crowd in the first ever World Hockey Tournament at Meadowbank stadium. Think it was '75.

My husband was brought up on and around Balmoral Estate, so I've danced with a man who danced with the Princess Royal (at the Ghillies' Ball).

I trod on Debbie McGee's foot in a dark cinema, while I was leaning over her to ask Paul Daniels for his signature.

He said no.
