The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

Tom Finney sometimes used to eat his sandwiches in my great aunty Mary's shed

My partner's stepdad is related to David Essex.

He also has a male relative that was a drummer for Tom Jones and was in Bugsy Malone. He's in a scene with Jodie Foster 💃

Judy Dench was sitting behind us at an Eddie Izzard show in London sharing out sweets with her friends.
We also spotted Harry Enfield later too.

The first British reality programme made was The Family back in 1974, I knew the family but the programme was made after we had moved away from the area.

My friend knows the writer of two Eurovision-winning songs.
Another friend knows a Eurovision winning singer.
I grew up with a girl who had an affair with another Eurovision winner.
A girl I knew became a Eurovision winner later on.
My friend's Norwegian boyfriend went to school with a Norwegian Eurovision winner.

I have no connection with anything related to the Eurovision, and none of these acquaintances of mine know each other. It's just a bizarre coincidence.

I went to the wedding reception of the bass guitarist, Jamie Stewart, who was a band member of The Cult at the time, about 1987. He lived a couple of doors down from my Nan in a terraced 2 up 2 down. All the men were wearing kilts. It was held in a local hall and they were having a good old knees up. None of the other band members were there btw.

Dh and dd went to a football match at Manchester United last season and Kier Starmer was seated very close to them.

Oh wow, I used to fancy Jamie Stewart rotten ! I’d have been so jealous.

xSnowFairyx · 11/01/2026 02:03

I used to live down the road from Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs singer)

When I was backpacking years ago I got pissed with a girl who was friends with Isla Fisher.

Oh I once saw Isla Fisher at a swimming pool in Perth, Australia.

My DP was stopped 15 years ago & taken for the actor Robert Carlyle by one of his best mates. The guy was shocked by how similar the looked. Not so much now, DP has definitely aged better!

I've spent Christmas at Jimmy Nail's Mum's house.
I've washed Martin Brundle's Mum's hair.
Harry Styles spoke to me at one of his concerts, but only to check on the girl behind me who had fainted.

Puffalicious · 11/01/2026 01:58

Mick Jagger waved at me in Covent Garden as an excitable 21 year old.

My brother played American Football briefly with Marti Pellow. He still has an old cassette tape of a demo of 'Wishing I Was Lucky'.

One for the older MN’s, many years ago I served drinks to Russ Abbot in a disco he gave me a big tip. He then commandeered the DJ’s microphone to sing his hit Atmosphere and got me to join in, he was lovely and very funny.

My friend was one of 2 of Madonna’s body guards for 3 yrs until recently. My friend and the other body guard lived in her house with the family. I didn’t know but when he told me I looked at photos of her online and he was in every single one. He moved on because it consumed his whole life.

WearyAuldWumman · 11/01/2026 01:48

Okay...

I worked at the same school as a young teacher who had once served Norman Wisdom in a restaurant in the Isle of Man.

My Dad rewired Edwin Starr’s house. His colleague saw a ghost there, and was never the same after that.
