The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

I was a presenter on WHY DONT YOU? In the 90’s. Showing my age.

I used to watch in the 80 s how did they pick their presenters?

DaisyDazee · 11/01/2026 15:08

I had my photograph on the front page of our local paper when I was elected Chair of a Students society.
More recently I was quoted on the brochure of a company, I had refined a way to use the product. It was not enough to save them, they closed all the branches except USA.
Oh! Paper closed down as well. Ho hum!

WearyAuldWumman · 11/01/2026 15:07

Oh, oh! Got another one!

One husband was the guest star on Sheena Wellington's folk show on Radio Tay, back in the '80s.

This is very tenuous, partly because most people probably won't know who she is.

I once served Winnie Ewing in a shop. I didn't realise who she was until she handed me her credit card. I did a double take. She knew I had twigged, and smiled, but neither of us said anything.

Her daughter is currently the MSP for my hometown.

My nan lived two doors down from Paul O'Grady's aunt.

I've stood next to Nico and John Cale (Velvet Underground) in a pub watching John Cooper Clarke.

Me and my mum were in the background of a news report on Granada Reports in the early 1970's.

ginasevern · 11/01/2026 15:03

I was in a stage show with Sooty and Sweep when I was 6 and as a teenager I tripped over David Bowie's tent peg.

You were allowed to use their LOO?
Wow. You win!

I know.

Jock, the St Andrew's Ambulance Corps Commandant [sic - that was the actual nomenclature] insisted upon it.

There were ladies' loos underneath the stand but - as with the gents' loos - you could smell 'em before you could see them. :(

Ian McKellen once stole my taxi on Oxford St.

Lookingtodate · 11/01/2026 14:56

Sean Batty was shite quizmaster at my pals village hall. He was vile and I reported him to STV

GinJeanie · 11/01/2026 14:54

I was interviewed by Andrew Lincoln's brother for a teaching job. He was/is a headteacher. I didn't get the job and he doesn't look anything like his brother...

I snogged Tony Knowles and my friend snogged Steve Davis at a snooker show back in the 80s 🤣

My mum met Steve Davis on the stairs in a night club. She didn’t snog him though because she was married. But she wanted to as she had a massive crush on him.

hugebigburd2 · 11/01/2026 14:52

It was because of me that Gene Pitney flew through the air and landed awkwardly on stage. At the venue we were asked to guard the doors as it was a ticketed event. I felt a push from behind the door I was guarding. The second push was stronger so I stood aside. I didn't know it was the stage door I was guarding.

I used to work with someone who appeared in one of the Harry Potter films.
My old Sunday school teachers daughter (who was also friends with my brother. The daughter not the teacher) was in ‘The Last Kingdom’.

ComplicatedBrunette · 11/01/2026 14:41

My sister lives in the same road that Keith Flint grew up in.

My brother aged about 8 held Princess Anne's horse at a horse show run by my Aunt.

My neice is in a film recently released with Kate Beckinsale & Charles Dance

My friends are in a band and their last album was number 17 in the album chart.

Hailhaill · 11/01/2026 14:40

I went to school with Gerard Butler

ChaToilLeam · 11/01/2026 14:39

My ex-husband used to live next door to Engelbert Humperdinck's sister.

Bryan Ferry's sister was in my dad's class at school.

I used to work in a dry cleaners, and Tom Robinson came in one day to have his trousers cleaned and pressed. The manager and I knew who he was but not my younger colleague. Also Jason Donovan was performing at a theatre in town and I cleaned his trousers, though never got to meet the man himself.

I used cloth nappies with DC2 and I loved an American brand for the different prints they did.

One that I bought (unused in the packet) was previously owned by the actress who played Kimmy Gibbler in Full House.

I live in the same estate that Sir Alex Ferguson, Alan Brazil and Billy McNeil used to live in.

I was at a work conference where Darren Brown was the guest speaker. I was introduced to him in the bar afterwards and he told me exactly where I'd been sat in the room (4th row from the back, 3 seats in from the aisle, or whatever it was). There's been at least 200 people in the audience 🤯

I met Derren once after a show. He was absolutely lovely.

We are close friends with a couple who are political refugees in exile from their own country where they are very well known as members of the leading political family

A pupil at the school where I worked was an extra on Outlander.

My DS was in the national trust Scotland brochure about 20 years ago. The photo was taken at the Highland village used in Outlander.

You've reminded me.

Mick Bucknell tried to bed someone I used to work with after his gig at the NEC.

She said he had smelly breath and his hair was too long, so she declined his offer.

There was a thread on here asking if anybody had slept with a celebrity. There were a surprisingly large number of posters who had either slept with Mick Hucknall or knew somebody who had!

TheReverendBeeb · 11/01/2026 14:18

My late Granny nursed Douglas Bader during the war.

When I was about 15, I was in Leicester square with friends and we saw David Baddiel.
I shouted 'Oi Baddiel' really loudly, he turned around and we all ran and hid in a red phone box.

He dated someone from my school for several months.

She was 14. She'd convinced him she was 19.

It was eugh back in the 90s. Even more eugh now.
