The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

My grandad was a civil servant who write scripts for public information films in the 40s and 50s.
He also wrote the Country Code.
Kit Harington once passed out drunk on my sofa when he was at drama school (my housemate was on the same course as him)

Thought of a couple more!

Keeping this one a little vague for privacy reasons, but I went to school with a girl whose late father played a Bond villain.

My sister-in-law is in charge of social media for a small independent toy company. When Rumer Willis was pregnant, her sister Tallulah contacted my SIL about buying one of the toys for Rumer’s baby and linking to the company on her social media accounts, but she never got back to my SIL about the specifics and it fell through.

My son was in panto with Barney Harwood from Blue Peter.

I am in the background in Freddie’s Field of Dreams with the girls’ team from Blackpool.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 11/01/2026 22:57

I taught a girl who went on to be a Blue Peter presenter.
I chatted with Helena Bonham-Carter while our kids played on the swings in my village's children's playground. Tim Burton was there but he stood in the far corner looking aloof.

I was in the same class as someone who’s sister was in the 1970’s tv show ‘Angels’.

See my dad got a drink chucked over him by Glenys Kinnock but it’s not tenuous because my Dad was trying to coerce him over to Plaid when he was the MP for Islwyn! New thread on who got drinks chucked on them maybe?!

I snogged Trevor McDonalds’ son at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival when I was 15.

Haha that's funny

I once got into a taxi in Cardiff and the taxi driver said Wagner (X factor) had been in it the week before!!!! Made my day 🤣

I had a fling with a (at that time famous) World Champ in figure skating.

Christopher Dean?!

Mykneesareshot · 11/01/2026 22:36

Once had a quick kiss with Gary Moore.
Many years ago viewed a house for sale owned by Super Grass, one band member was present, I couldn't say who.

I was on "Open to question", a bbc Scotland TV programme, with Neil Kinnock.

FeeBee73 · 11/01/2026 22:33

There are apparently lots of famouses around my way. I have never watched soaps or do I like sport so it is wasted on me.
My most tenuous link is probably that I buy tee shirts from Kelsey Grammer's brother in law. My friend's daughter is friendly with his wife so I sat in the same dinning room chair that he did a couple of days after him.

HazelOP1972 · 11/01/2026 22:32

I met Princess Diana in December 1986 in Essex when she opened a handicapped centre.

HazelOP1972 · 11/01/2026 22:31

Sealhaver · 11/01/2026 21:54

I threw up on Princess Diana…I also may have had a wee on her, but was quite small and blameless (she was my nursery school teacher in the months just prior to the wedding)!

Oh my God that is the best claim to fame ever and how amazing!!! Were you in any photos that Arthur Edwards took of Diana at the Kindergarten that were then in The Sun wither in the see through skirt?
I shook hands with Diana in Essex in December 1986.
