The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

I had a fling with a (at that time famous) World Champ in figure skating.

AY?

Not celebrity-adjacent, but something I'm proud of: I once tried to kick a pimp in the nuts.

Does that count? Didn't quite reach the spot (he was holding on to me at the time) but I did try.

Well I have quite a few but I think my favourite is the time I sat next to meryl Streep for two hours and had no idea.

I don’t think she’s ever sat next to anyone who didn’t know who she was. It was very awkward. Only on leaving did my partner and I piece it all together 😂

Staceyfrombarry · 12/01/2026 00:10

I’m related to Trent Alexander Arnold, closely too!

I rode a horse regularly that had previously been ridden by Queen Elizabeth ii.

Love this, years ago I rode a horse that was in the film ‘Into the West’. He belonged to a riding school in the Dublin mountains where a lot of scenes were filmed. Proper old gent he was and was the riding horse for the kids. He was great on their cross country course

Years ago Kieron Prendaville from Tomorrow's World went to our house to speak with my Dad about featuring on the programme

At work I see Mary Berry regularly, we had a work ‘bake off’ last year and I won with her carrot cake tray bake.
Being professional at work I say her married name, but dying to tell her I’m a huge fan and ‘won’ the blind tested bake off (a £25 Amazon voucher) but can’t 😂

Tim Vincent of Blue Peter & Children’s Ward fame served me my roast dinner in a restaurant.

My mate who was a midwife delivered Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma.

My friend shared a flat with someone who played in a brass band at the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony. They were invited over from Ireland. I saw him in a close-up.

I got blocked on Twitter by David Van Day lol

Ooh, that reminds me that I was blocked by the guy who plays Boabby the barman on Still Game. No idea why as I never replied or mentioned him. My Twitter account has since been deactivated, so I guess I'll never know. Still, it's nice to be noticed.

My mum was friends with Judith Chalmers’ sister. Me and my brother used to go to her house overlooking Clapham Common when we were little and played with her children (Judith’s niece and nephew). They used to come to our house too. I don’t remember meeting Judith though.

Dave Prowse (Darth Vader) came to my primary school once as the Green Cross Code Man.

Sorry-I can be more tenuous- I sat next to somebody from Boney M’s mum at a festival once and she took a photo of my baby.

When Boney M were playing in my city, I met a woman on the bus whose son was on the same flight as them the night before. 😀 She said they were lovely.

The Lady Louise is named after my Godmother's daughter because my Godmother is the nurse who looked after Sophie, when her daugter was premature.

My bike was in an episode of inspector Morse.
I babysat for a famous academic. When I want to outgeek someone or look impressive I drop that one in the conversation.
I said hello to Teddy Sheringham coming out of a lift. I thought I knew him personally! He very politely said hello back.

I've bought various clothes off of Claire Richards from the pop group Steps inc outfits she has worn for band promo shoots and on tv. She' sent me a personalised signed photo aswell. I have met her a few times too plus with the whole group.

I bought a silver necklace online from Stanley Kubrick's daughter ( he directed 2001 Space Odyssey, Clockwork Orange etc). She designed and made me the necklace.

Edited grammar.
