The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

I once walked past Bob Dylan out for a walk. He was staying in a 5 star hotel nearby I presume. He was doing concerts in the city that week.
I’d passed him and then it clicked - That’s Bob Dylan” and I glanced back at him.

Short story - I caught my DH looking at Claudia Schiffer’s left boob.

longer story - we were flying home from Majorca and we walked pushed through a door and glanced back and I saw him do a double take. Claudia and I think Tim Jeffries (?) had followed us through the door and her boob had sort of popped out of her shirt. DH was sort of startled and mortified that he had seen this random woman’s boob but then I pointed out it was Claudia Schiffer, he hadn’t looked as far as her face - prob wouldn’t have recognised her anyway.

I was on 'Robbed, Raided, Renuited' and had to do a really cringey reconstruction, love/hate watching it back 😄

Cat Deely sent me a Net a Porter voucher and a beautiful thankyou cad when I did some work for her a few years ago,

she’s a lovely person

I was sad she split from Patrick Kielty because I think he’s a nice person too. And there’s 2 wee boys in the mix.

Teeteringonthebrink45 · 22/01/2026 23:14

I bought a second hand bike on eBay and when I arrived to collect it the young guy selling it was actually the manny, looking after 2 little boys in a big house and the seller was a musician away on tour who had asked the manny (who was a bit too attractive for his own good) to sell his and his wife’s old bikes while he was away. I didn’t ask who the musician was.

Bono stood on my daughter's toe.

MadAsAMongoose · 22/01/2026 22:13

Richard O'brien asked me if I wanted to get some fried chicken with him after a Rocky Horror show. I said no 🤷

My Sister and I went to the New Forest in Hampshire on a pony trekking holiday years ago and one day Esther Ranzen and her 2 girls were there as they had a house in the forest and knew the stable owners very well. We led the girls round the outdoor menage on ponies. Later, we heard Esther say the following week she would bring Nick Ross along (guy who did Crimewatch on BBC1).
A lady working there Krystal was also a hand model for a Gin tv advert that was popular at that time.

That’s him! We went on the same holiday once (me, Matt Ryan…and 30 other teenagers 😂) I ironed his jeans once in frustration at his shit ironing skills. 🙄😉😂

Edited

I got my daughter in to the show a few years ago, she met him at a Comic Con in the summer. By the looks of her pics, he still hasn’t mastered it 😂 But he was very sweet, chatted away to her for ages, she absolutely adored him 🥰

Mike Wozniak walks his dog past my house most days.

berryberi · 19/01/2026 00:45

Me and my friend went pony trekking and Chris de Burgh was there with his daughter. His daughter wanted the pony my friend had so she got it. It was a bit weird. It wouldn't have happened for a non-celebrity.

I saw him at Gatwick airport about 30 yrs ago lol

Serenity45 · 18/01/2026 22:53

My ex partner's parents lived next door to the actress who played one of the barmaid in Phoenix Nights (the one who tried the love eggs out 😂)

I taught Matt Fisher, the England cricketer for A level maths. Absolutely lovely lad.

pensterino · 18/01/2026 18:48

I was at school with a Pogue (not Shane). I have a third cousin who's a life peer. And I once saw Francis Bacon (the artist) sitting in the reception area of the investment management firm I worked for in the eighties.

I met Ronnie Corbett at Heathrow once. I was waiting for my husband, standing outside with our dog. He crossed the road and doggie was very happy he might make a new friend. Ronnie smiled and said "What a nice doggie!" and I burst with pride.

I've been glared at by Frank Thornton too @VeganStar!
I lived in Holmfirth - where they filmed Last of the Summer Wine - for many years, but only ever came across them filming once. We were coming home across Saddleworth Moor, came down the lane towards Bilberry/Digley reservoirs and slowed to pass a few parked cars - Frank Thornton and Peter Sallis were sitting in the back seat of one of them. I could literally see him thinking "Oh FFS" as I was over excitedly squeaking "it's Captain Peacock" to my DH 😂
Very nice BBC man invited us to watch filming and made us a brew.

It makes you think was he actually acting on screen or was it just his usual demeanour. Thinking of it now it probably must have been.
That was very nice of the bbc person to have invited you to watch.

In the 80s me and my db were “glared” at by Frank Thornton aka Captain Peacock of “Are you Being Served” fame as we tried to cross a very busy road near Trafalgar Square. He was in his car, we seeing a gap in the traffic cautiously stepped into the road at the very moment he decided to turn into the junction we were crossing at. His demeanour was very much in keeping with his tv character.

A few in the eighties..I sold a suit to Letitia Dean(eastenders) at Camden Market..told I was sweet by Sue Pollard in a nightclub..my late brother was co-creator of Button Moon..he was adopted as a baby and I only met him a couple of years before he died..

Most recent..Passed Jeremy Kyle in a narrow space at school(I was a nanny)smiled at him and was ignored.
